[News] Late For Work 11/16: P-Word Officially Banned From Ravens Facility

140 posts in this topic

Make no mistake, Doom did not lose us this game. In fact, he was one of our best defensive players out there for the majority of the game. In order, this loss falls on Joe, Kendrick Lewis, then Jeremy Ross. I still believe in Joe as our franchise QB, and I still love the Ravens, but we just got beat by the Jaguars in OUR stadium! Worst loss I can remember since losing to the 0-13 Dolphins back in 07. What a mess... I'm gonna go look up the top 10 players coming out of college this year, maybe it'll help me feel better knowing we'll get one of them.

It probably won't. Keep this in mind--You can get all excited about a Top 5 draft pick and then come draft day when the Ravens are on the clock,  Chances are you could hear that the Ravens have made a trade and fall deeper down in the first round only to trade again out of the first round and have a plethora of later picks and most of them don't pan out either. Just saying that everything thing is not going to change just because we get a high draft pick. Stranger things have happened. Just look at yesterday.

Dean Pees needs to be fired. Pees HAS needed to be fired for several seasons now.

I was skeptical at the time of the signing and still skeptical now...I really think Trestman is too soft for the AFC North; these bullsh short passes to the flat on 3rd downs will NEVER work in this division.

1. Well, if they traded down, they're certainly not trading all the way out of the first, since they'd certainly have at least two first round picks at that point.

2. Would be great for us to do that, since there's not a single player in this draft that will vault us into a SB contender. Would certainly be great to get two quality players instead of one great one.

Just so we are clear... the AFC North isn't anything close to a "tough division" in terms of offensive playcalling. The two best offense in this division are largely finesse teams who don't consistently run the ball that well and like to throw it a lot. They utilize speed and often creative play calling to accomplish this.

This ain't the 2008 AFC North anymore.

That was just a "lol" kind of post to let people know that being "Oh! we get a Top 5 pick" is not going to fix us. Point being that this is going to take a while to fix.

at this point nothing matters. play the youngsters and try different schemes the rest of the season. try osemele at left tackle and hurst, monroe or someone else at guard and see if it works. the running game stinks

If you try KO at LT, and he succeeds, then you have to pay him as a LT, which we can't afford.

Monroe is fine at LT as long as he is healthy.

The most over looked play yesterday was going for it on 4th and 4. That was the 3 points needed, also the Jags took the ball down the field for a TD off of that turnover on downs. If they make that field goal the final score would have been 23-15 Ravens. Who's call was that?

That play was in the 1st Quarter. And it would have been a 54+ yard FG. Tucker struggles kicking at home (for some reason) - he missed from 58 later in the game (and missed a 51 against the Brownies). You can't assume he makes that FG. The Jaguars scored after that turnover on downs but only after 2 defensive penalties by the Ravens (Will Hill & Daryl Smith cannot cover anybody without holding).

"Tough loss, BUT a blessing in disguise. High draft pick , experience for younger players , easy schedule next season , chip on their shoulders , get team leaders back & a blue chip free agent signing. This team will be scary good next season. Consider this season a detox. As a fan I have all the faith this time next year we'll be talking about how good this team is."

Please don't start with that talk about being great next season. First of all, it's too early to tell. Secondly every time this team has been projected to be good, it struggles. It must go to the players' heads. I remember what the players were saying before the Denver game "this is just the first team in our way in what we're going to do ..." Or something to that effect. They forget that they have to go and play and win the games. There are no gifts in the NFL. My opinion is that this is a rebuilding team. Until the times comes when it's a bonafide good team I would shy away from such talks.

This was the Sorriest, dumbest lost that I can remember and it aint' all on Dooomb! We had multiple chances to put this game away.I've been talking all year about our tight ends and just when you have the perfect game to show them off,you stop going to them. The tight ends and Juice(44) coming out the backfield was all day.Jags could not stop them boys. But NO! We got a Gunslinger for a QB who rather pad his #s than win the game. All I'm saying is we always blow the right moments with stupid play calling,on both sides of the ball.Yes I'm a real, true Ravens fan, just let me know when the real, true Ravens come back to roost.

One way to avoid future disastrous seasons for the Baltimore Ravens is simple. Ban Peter King from ever praising the Ravens and calling them potential SB winners and ranking them as the best team in the NFL. Forget the Madden curse! Peter King's praise is the unkindest curse of all!

and we dont need osemele. If its one player that we can afford to let go this offseason its KO. Love him but john urschel is completely competent at guard on both side of the line. Hurst on the other side... ehhhhh......

Agree about going for first down on 4th and 4. These are no longer "would've been a genius call if it worked". Then again Tom Coughlin never told Eli to run the clock down as he passed and passed. I think they ran two plays in less than ten seconds inside the 15, and ran a third before the two minute time out. They might as well have handed Belichick the game. Doesn't Kraft own part of DraftKings? Ummm..........

lol, you're probably right, seems like Ozzie's MO anyway. Not saying one good pick is gonna turn us around, but I need something to be optimistic about, and it's certainly not anything we're putting on the field right now.

Excuse me sir, but didn't we all your thoughts for next season for this season already? Look where it landed us. I wouldn't ever venture to guess how next season will turn out even if we draft high. All we can do is hope and pray something changes to forge a new beginning. Either there has to be a re-tooling of player personnel, coaching staff and/or front office. All teams need a jolt to kick start every now and then.

I have a nagging feeling the soul of this team has been systematically dismantled after the SB. Both by the cap but also by Harbaugh. I like John and think he is one of the best HC in the league but maybe he should have not tried to change what was not broken. If he couldnt handle the strong personalities that have been the emotional soul of our team he should have accepted a job with a less agressive team. Hope I am wrong

I dont necessicarily think this is a rebuilding team... I think we have the talent around us to have a optimism for next season.... we just had no depth this year and that was the thing out of the preseason... remember last season we were projected at least to make the playoffs this is a really good team with really good talent that just simply cant win games

54 yard FG attempt for a kicker who hasn't been very good from beyond 50 this season.

He made the correct call. The play call and execution of it, however, was not great.

True. Correct call. Tucker is 2-5 on fg's of 50+yds

Like I have said and some others agree... The Ravens are not a bad team. By far they are the best worst team in the NFL. Think of what the season would be like if Suggs (best defensive player) and Smith (best offensive player) don't get injured. They could have changed a couple of those games around. Injuries happen and it is in the past and time to look forward but this team has some to look forward to. But winning at this point will not help this organization. The Ravens need these high draft picks as the experienced players are up in age. It takes about 3 years to see where a player really is at and right now Suggs, Dumervil, S. Smith, and D. Smith all have 2 years max after this season. It is time to bring in young guys and groom them. Nobody is saying this is a terrible team all losses were by 1 score. But to get us over that hump we need more talent here and for coaches to coach them up. I also think coaches need to be more disciplined in their coaching.

Harbaugh this might be good for your career actually. You might realize what you had in Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Derrick Mason, Anquan Boldin... even Bernard Pollard. Choir boys are good if Christmas carols are your thing, otherwise you need 'football players' to play... well... football. And, newsflash: 'football players' often come with type A personalities and large egos. You manage those knowing they are an unfortunate byproduct of success. Now Harbs has this "yes sir, no sir" team where Harbs is the superstar... How's that working out for you sir?

no, all blame definitely does go to dumervil. Just stop. its the absolute last play of the game, make a good tackle or just get close and scare him, and its over. Doesnt matter what happened previously, all of it added up to a Ravens W as long as Dumervil doesnt screw up that play.

and i dont know why everybody so shocked and upset about Kendrick Lewis dropping a pick, i told you when we signed him that he wasnt the guy you thought he was gonna be. He has no business playing center field.

How many people are on the team since the SB???  It happens a lot.  not just the Ravens.  It was an older team...  Most have gone to be overpaid elsewhere... or have retired.  Come on Man.  Stop looking for a scapegoat.

Our run game only looks good in the 4th quarter due to the defense getting tired, if you have noticed everytime our run game looks good it is in the 4th quarter. Secondly, our receivers suck, and Joe needs to improve.

Cant use Rodgers no more because his stats have been declining why? he misses his target Jordy Nelson. Every qb needs a playmaking WR and we don't.

Defense cant catch a cold or a pick

There is a bigger picture here. It's not just the vets that have left but also the players that have been brought in. There was a concious effort to change the image of our team.

The worst. The absolute worst loss I have experienced in the past 20-years. Not because of the last play. But because of the complete lack of balance in the play calling (5 runs in the 1st half), the complete lack of scheme (continually passing 2-yards short of a 1st down on 3rd down), the complete lack of discipline (6 penalties for 81-yards against the defense, 3 penalties for 40-yards against the special teams), pass drops, turnovers, lack of ability to create turnovers when the ball is thrown right to you (Jimmy Smith and Kendrick Lewis), and so on. A lot of people are commenting that the defense played well. Really? The only reason Jax had low yardage totals was because the O kept giving them the ball on our own 30! How do you come out of a bye week and lay an egg like that? This game was a complete debacle, and like I've said from the start, this is a top down league. Lack of discipline and execution at this stage of the season translates to lack of coaching ability. Period.

With all of the focus on Doom's facemask penalty which cost us so dearly, I am far more upset with players on defense who put forth token or no effort on the last play. At least Doom was playing through with heart to the last whistle. Sure, Doom made a bad mistake but other players standing around or walking off the field before ANY play is over to the whistle is a total lack of discipline, inexcusable, and downright embarrassing to witness.

Absolutely. That is the Ravens mindset this year. Their heads are just not in the game.

I wouldn't say that there are no gifts in the NFL. I think we gave a big one to the Jags yesterday. lol
