[News] Late For Work 11/16: P-Word Officially Banned From Ravens Facility

140 posts in this topic

My grandfather got me nfl game pass before the season. This is the first game I have had a chance to watch. I thought the game was over and was very happy and a few seconds later I was shocked speechless. I've never felt so bad after a game. Very hard to watch that Jaguars locker room. He mentioned the face mask penalty.

Was I the only one who heard a whistle to blow the play dead before the snap? Why else would all those players just stop moving and look around? They all thought the game was over too. Not that it matters, we tried so hard to lose it anyway. We really didn't need all the help from the refs to blow the game. What happened to playing physical football? The game I loved has slowly turned into this flagfest and constant player whining for more flags.

The hit that Hill put on the Jags receiver was a no-brainer penalty in this league. However, how in the world is the hit on Aiken not a blow to the head of a defenseless receiver? Is there a rule I don't know about where a receiver is not defenseless if they bobble a ball they should have caught? Give us 15 yards instead of an INT ... that's game changing. But refs never let us get away with it, but periodically seem to just not be watching when it happens to us. It seems based on reputation. Once you get marked as an undisciplined team, the refs put your team under a microscope.

There's no way you win a game by turning the ball over 4 times in the SECOND half and IMO you don't deserve to win if you do so.

Oddly enough even with those turnovers we were still in prime position to win the game. A score by the Ravens on their last offensive drive of the game and we may not have had to panic in the last minute.

Jacksonville hadn't won on the road since December 2013, marking an NFL-worst streak of 13 consecutive losses.

The fact that it came after the Ravens’ bye hurts too. Baltimore had been 6-1 after the bye, and it was an NFL-best 23-10 in November since 2008.

This says it all. we are a BAD football team.

It's painful enough to endure the heartbreaking losses. The last thing I want to see is the media and rest of the league mocking and laughing at us. I just hope the Ravens can play respectable football for the rest of the season. Although my expectations have been a lot lower this year, I was astounded at the amount of blunders yesterday.

Tough loss, BUT a blessing in disguise. High draft pick , experience for younger players , easy schedule next season , chip on their shoulders , get team leaders back & a blue chip free agent signing. This team will be scary good next season. Consider this season a detox. As a fan I have all the faith this time next year we'll be talking about how good this team is.

Penalties and turnovers. As long as those keep happening it doesn't matter if otherwise Ravens play lights out.

The "P-word" has to be officially banned from the Ravens facility ... yeah, should have been banned after the Browns loss. Did we really need to wait until now to say this? I couldn't believe the amount of chatter that was going on during the bye about going 8-0. What?

I know Mora's rant is viewed as a farce, but he did have a point. Who should be talking about playoffs when you haven't proven you can reliably win A game let alone 8 of them in a row. It is like we somehow believed that our pedigree would save us from our abysmal play. We can officially dispense with that silliness and move on to the task of trying to figure out what guys on our roster deserve to be Ravens in 2016.

Figures when we finally force a turnover, we give up a few in exchange.

Impossible to know how our schedule will look next season.

We play the AFC and NFC East. The AFC East, this season, is arguably the best division in football.

I still believe we have to learn how to win this season. Winning is not only laying it out on the field, it's a mentality. And for that, we want to start conditioning the young players early. Let some other losing team pick the top 5 and put some effort into turning the trend. Who's to say that if we don't manage that now we will next year. Because it's not because we lack playmakers that we have lost so many, but because we make stupid mistakes that cost us.

Well I guess it's that kind of a season... Heartbreaking indeed. I just hope that we still have some good games and that our young guys can step up. It is just sad how this season worked out. On the other hand I think that this season makes us stronger and better and that we can grow from it as a team. It is never easy but sometimes you also need to scratch and fight to even stay on your feet... especially in Football.

Make no mistake, Doom did not lose us this game. In fact, he was one of our best defensive players out there for the majority of the game. In order, this loss falls on Joe, Kendrick Lewis, then Jeremy Ross. I still believe in Joe as our franchise QB, and I still love the Ravens, but we just got beat by the Jaguars in OUR stadium! Worst loss I can remember since losing to the 0-13 Dolphins back in 07. What a mess... I'm gonna go look up the top 10 players coming out of college this year, maybe it'll help me feel better knowing we'll get one of them.

Yesterday's game was our season in a nut shell. Too many penalties, turnovers, not running the f'n ball enough or well enough and losing the game in the last few minutes.

So this is how Brown's fans feel? I have to say, I am the type of fan who lives and dies with the team. I get so emotionally involved a win puts me in a good mood all week and a loss sits in my stomach like a personal tragedy. This year though, I feel nothing. We win 2 games and it just doesnt feel the same because the season is a wash. 7 losses and I am used to it so even the last minute loss yesterday just made me get off the couch, shake my head and go do other interests that are not football. I used to record and watch 5 games every Sunday. Now it is just 1. I dont know how Brown's fans do it.

The Browns, 49ers and Jags have beaten us this year, two of those being the home crowd. How no one in the staff is paying for this is beyond me.

The most over looked play yesterday was going for it on 4th and 4. That was the 3 points needed, also the Jags took the ball down the field for a TD off of that turnover on downs. If they make that field goal the final score would have been 23-15 Ravens. Who's call was that?

With all of the focus on Doom's facemask penalty which cost us so dearly, I am far more upset with players on defense who put forth token or no effort on the last play. At least Doom was playing through with heart to the last whistle. Sure, Doom made a bad mistake but other players standing around or walking off the field before ANY play is over to the whistle is a total lack of discipline, inexcusable, and downright embarrassing to witness.

"Impossible to know how our schedule will look next season." we'll have a last place schedule next year.

Yes, that impacts a grand total of two games.

The other 14 games are already decided and will be playing the same teams as every other team in our division.

We also aren't guaranteed to be playing a last place schedule either, since the Browns are in the same position as us.

Take a look at the bottom end teams in the other two divisions we would be playing against (AFC South and AFC West). The bottom two teams in the West are the Chiefs and the Chargers... do you really think either of those teams is an "easy game" next season?

Even in the South, the two worst teams right now are the Texans and Titans. There isn't a gigantic difference between those two teams and the Jags and Colts right now.

As an avid Orlando Magic basketball fan, I feel like I can tell you how fans of bad teams stay loyal fans. Once losing becomes expected on a yearly basis, the losses stop hurting and the victories are very sweet. Seeing how bitter fans of teams better than us are when our team beats them is a sadistically enjoyable experience. Other than that, fans of bad teams always believe their team is heading in the right direction, I have the "next year" mentality with the Magic every year, and it always seems like we're putting pieces together to move towards a winning season. This season with the Ravens has been worse than any year of the past few years of cheering for the Magic, because this bad of a season has come out of nowhere. I don't have the same comfort of expecting losses like I do with Orlando, because I know this Ravens team is better than this. Our coaching staff has a pedigree of success, our team is full of players with post-season experience, our leadership base was comprised of well established and respected veterans at the beginning of the year, and our draft seemingly addressed all of our needs coming into the year. This season hurts man, it hurts worse than any season Browns fans have faced in a long, long time.

54 yard FG attempt for a kicker who hasn't been very good from beyond 50 this season.

He made the correct call. The play call and execution of it, however, was not great.
