Bosa, Hargreaves or Ramsey?

398 posts in this topic

People continue to bring up Hargreaves height as something that will keep him from becoming an elite coverage CB but I just don't share those same concerns. He has matched up against tall and physical WRs plenty of times and has succeeded. He has matched up against Laquan Treadwell multiple times and has succeeded in every match up(Who is a prototypical big and physical WR).

If you're speaking along the lines of him getting Mossed, then I don't see that being a big deal to be quite honest. What I mean by mossed is someone who is taller than him who just has that height and is able to climb higher than him without beating him out by pure strength and pushing him around. Let's be honest here, it has happened to plenty of CBs who are considered elite like Darelle Revis, Joe Haden, Chris Harris Jr. and plenty others. As long as you position yourself and stay competent, then you can prevent that, and that's what those three do including Hargreaves.

Josh Norman who is considered the best CB right now is 6'0, he's a mere one inch taller than Hargreaves, would it please anyone more if Hargreaves grew just one inch? Lol.

I feel like the height thing is not only played out but something that I don't see as much when I watch him. More often than not he holds his own against big WRs, even against some of the best ones.

While on that subject, I think Ramsey is a safety rather than a CB. I have to say, I have serious concerns about Jalen Ramsey against big play WRs such as Odell Beckham and Antonio Brown. He plays undisciplined at times and even overly aggressive, if he carries that to the Pro's then he'll get ate. More CBs bust due to them being undisciplined and too aggressive and questionable mental mindset rather than height and size and to be honest that's what Ramsey is.

Collectively as a unit we like to play a lot of Off-Man coverage, that's where Ramsey struggles in. I'm also certain his strong suit is much stronger in man-coverage rather than zone. I do believe Hargreaves and even Fuller is a better fit.

I'm all in for VH3. Like PurpleCity5 said, his height is nothing to be worried about. He's disciplined, he plays like a Raven on the field and is an all star off the field, he's from the SEC and Ozzie likes his NFL ready players. If it's between him and Ramsey, I think VH3 gets the nod but I think Bosa is higher than everyone not named Tunsil on our draft board but I don't think we have a shot at those two so I'd be willing to bet VH3 will be a Raven. The FS market this offseason is pretty solid. Won't find an Ed Reed, but we need an upgrade over Lewis which shouldn't be hard to get.

Agreed, but I wonder if Lewis would be cut. If not, I'm not too sure if the FO will be looking in FA again for a FS. My guess is the draft. But then again, just my two cents.

I know that most teams follow BPA but do yall think that some teams try to draft at positions that tend to be more expensive and use FA for the cheaper positions to get proven players? Kind of makes sense to get your guys from the draft for the next 5 years at positions like wide receiver, DE, Rb and tackle for next to nothing and then go FA for the other positions that tend to cost less money. I know that obviously it cant always work that way but it would be interesting to know if some stingy Gms think that way. Might not be a winning formula but atleast would be a sufficient way to stay well under the cap. Anyway , just a thought.

I think we keep Lewis here but invest a draft pick into a safety early. My bet is Vonn Bell or Darian Thompson, both whome I'm big fans off.

Given we stay at 5 it might not even be a question. However ranking these guys Im going Bosa, Ramsey, VH3 based upon bpa.

Heres why. Its obvious we have the horses and need to switch to the 4-3 Pees needs to retire or take the HC job at Michigan school for girls or something. Having Suggs, Doom and Bosa on the field at the same time? Scary. Along with BWill and TJ as our DTs with Upshaw playing the RDE. CJ in the MLB. Easily best front 7 in the NFL. While roatating in Davis.

Next would be Ramsey. Lewis has been a huge disapointment. BUT that also means we need to spend a couple bucks on a FA CB not off the scrap heap like we keep doing. Maybe Walker comes back and has a impact, jurys out on that. We also picked up a pretty decent one also now on IR and with Webb and Arrington pished down to nickle or better dime duties with a better DC it should elevate their play with a roaming hard hitting FS behind them.

VH3 is last. Not a knock but its the position of least need, of the 3 mind you. Would it be a worthy pick, if the other 2 were off the board? Absolutely 100% and Id hope Oz took it even if Stanley or Tunsil was still there also.
