[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Jaguars

160 posts in this topic

I don't have 5 thoughts, I only have 1: The players and coaches can officially dispense with the silly talk of "if" we can stack wins, go on a run, we can still make the playoffs. That goal has been gone ... yet there was constant chatter about it during the bye week.

We can't win games against the worst of opponents ... even at the Bank, where winning used to be a foregone conclusion, so please ... spare everyone the delusions of grandeur. This team is in a serious state of dysfunction.

Thanks for this post. 1000% correct!

To the people wanting Top 5 draft picks, please elaborate on what good would that do. I truly believe this team is not short on talent. The coaching on the other hand is a debacle of epic proportions. Look no further, injuries every year, bad draft choices, penalties, paying too much money to average players, amateur play calling. After Ray, Ed and Birk departures Harbaugh's record has been below .500. Unfortunately for us, he'll ride the SB train for another year along with his good for nothing assistants before Biscotti decides to can him. I predict no playoff appearances for another 2-3 years if things remain status quo.

So, you think this team has playmaking talent at WR, CB, Kick Returner and RB? We don't need any of those? I would tend to disagree. We need players that can play in the NFL but unfortunately the Ravens have so much dead money that we can't afford playmakers - we have to sign guys off the street for min $$. I may want a good steak but if I only have $5 in my pocket, I'm not eating at Morton's.

I've never seen a team want to lose a football game until today. Two chances they had to close this out. Two free plays, and still blew it. How do you have a free sack and still find a way blow it?

Can't totally blame Pees for this one. Defense played well against a tough opponent offensively. They just killed themselves with mental mistakes, which to me is a sign that they lack leadership

Just where are the two wins coming from? Browns and who? Rams are going to crush the Ravens Remember thats Jeff Fisher.

Browns? We've already lost to them once. I wouldn't even say that's a guarantee

On defense they were walking off the field while the Jags lined up on offense. They didn't play to the end. No discipline. Tackling lacked too. No discipline. Pees said a couple weeks ago they lacked consistency. No discipline. This is a coaching problem.

Whatever place we end of drafting, we need to not only find a guy that's a playmaker, but a guy that plays with a fire. We lack fire and motivation out there without Smith and suggs. Jimmy said it jokingly earlier, "you can hear a pin drop at practice" it shows on the field

It's not mental mistakes. They lack discipline on defense. That's Pees fault.

As I look at other QB and see what they are doing, you can be sure they are not sitting on their butt thinking about their next moves, they are arousing their teammates to go out and do better, Joe Flacco is just to to cool, he has no fire coming from his mouth or in his system, after most 3 and out he goes sit down and wait till his team gets the ball back, he acts like he doesn't even care, Last year I was hoping that the management would give Tyrod Taylor a chance, he's doing a very good job at Buffalo, are the Ravens going to invest all that money to someone who doesn't care if the team's playing bad, It's not the team's fault, It's Flacco's fault, he will never be an ELITE QB, It really tics me off when everyone blaming everyone but Flacco for the Ravens downfall. I gave up on the Ravens 11 games ago beginning last year, with all the hype that the Ravens created in the pre-season, It's a travesty. Put Matt Schaub out on the field [ he can't do any worsts ] and save Flacco health for some future draft picks, he just might do better QBacking another team and while Ozzie's at It fire the coaches and start all over new, they all used up their usefulness

Coaches did their jobs. Players simply need to execute. I am hoping for an 8-8, 9-7 finish. We have a very young team. Young teams struggle with consistency, and finishing games. It's best these players learn this now rather than later. As a Ravens fans, we are spoiled. This is our worst season, and we have only lost our worst game by 8 points. I want a win more than any other ravens fan. But, it will come. Keep hoping and believing Ravens Nation! #NeverMore

The Ravens organization needs to honestly asses this team and realize that this is not the same team as the 2014 unit, that had the future SB Champion Patriots on the ropes twice in Foxboro. We lost major contributors in Ngata, Mcphee, and Suggs. And only had half of an answer to fill that void. We thought investing more in the Secondary would improve the unit, yet we rank worse in almost every statistical category. And most importantly, we lost our offensive identity. Kubiak was a perfect fit for the personnel that we currently have. And now we have a Coordinator who has never found and offensive identity other than: we throw the ball a lot, and we do not manage the clock or control the clock/protect the ball. The good news is that this draft is stacked with talent and we are looking at a top 10 pick with and idea of what doesn't work in NFL in 2015.

PS: Tucker could have had 3 FG's today if Flacco and Trestman were playing winning football.

Let's not get too excited about our so-called progress that still wasn't good enough to overcome the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Ravens. Remember: This was the Jaguars. After being home in Baltimore for what(?) 3 weeks now with a bye to rest, heal, plan and prepare; and this is the best we can muster against a very below average team. WOW! Even our re-evaluations need to be revisited. It seems like we may have missed some things.

Ravens really have some issues this season but i did see some thing that made me hopeful, (not for this year). But i did like what i saw from the young receivers and tight ends they all have tons of potential if SSS isn't around next year. But I don't care how much Coaches spew the words play-offs it just isn't happening and would rather see plans for next year

Discipline is not the responsibility of the DC, it's the responsibility of the position coaches. They are the ones that coach and teach proper technique, positioning, etc. Again, when you have a WR coach and a DB coach with NO prior coaching experience, you get these type of results on the field. Bobby Engram - good player, terrible WR coach. Chris Hewitt - not a good player, even worse DB coach.

Curious as to why Tucker can't hit a 50 harder at home... can we finally stop talking about the playoffs. This season to me was over after the Oakland & Cleveland loses. I don't know how this team is even functioning right now. Pees does the same old crap and has the CB's play 8 yards off WR's., They aren't forcing turnovers (today yes), Flacco making mistakes, Trestman not wanting to run the ball. This team has lost a their spark and will have to reevaluate everybody this year because if someone doesn't get fired we will have the same problem next year. The best thing is Ravens have a top 5 picked build off that. Hopefully Ozzie finds someone that can make a play in the back.

I agree, 1 single draft with higher picks is not going to fix the Ravens problems. Not just that but how can anyone guarantee that those drafted will be a quality players, also any rookies drafted would be unlikely to have any immediate impact

So, all of a sudden all your players decided to suck at the same time, maybe they called a meeting and decided to synchronize the suckage OR just maybe the system is broken. On a team that is lackadaisical across the board, lacks discipline, effort and accountability across the board, it is high time to take a good look at the head coach. On the play that Dumervil got flagged, the entire defense was in disarray, Jernigan did not even bother to move, but Upshaw took the cake...he turned and started walking off the field as the Jaguars snapped the ball. This is with the game on the line. That tells you all you need to know about the mindset and commitment of this team. Could any of this nonsense happen on a Belichick coached team? C'mon, there's a standard of discipline and dedication that used to be enforced around here!!It doesn't matter what players you bring into this sick environment, they'll adapt to the rot. People can neg me till eternity, but I'll be satisfied in knowing that I voiced my opinion early and often on the need to fire Harbaugh. As long as he remains here, the culture would not change. It needs to happen sooner than later. Personally, I'll start looking for a new head coach right now, but I'll let Harbaugh ride out the rest of this miserable season, then thank him for his efforts, wish him luck, and send him on his way at the end of the season.

Oh please. One bad year of losing out of eight especially with a high amount of turnover, high amount of injuries and a huge amount of dead money not allowing you to sign anyone. And you do realize that Belichick was a joke of a coach for 5 years in Cleveland. Let's fire one of the best young coaches in the league - that's real smart. The Ravens should have fired Billick in 1999 right? After 3 straight losing seasons? While we are at it, why don't we just cut Flacco and save all that salary cap money. We can draft a QB and sign Alshon Jeffrey. Please. Have a little faith. And loyalty. Every team has a bad year.

Here we go again... i guess facts dont stand in everyones way...  Brian Billick didnt start coaching for the Ravens Until January of 1999 so yeah he didnt coach those 3 years prior.....

My 5 thoughts are all unprintable. Disgusting and disappointing just don't seem to describe my feelings on the team's play week after week. A complete overhaul is now needed.

Coaches included. OC and DC are terrible. Scouting is also a concern as I see it.

Although this horrendous season is killing me, especially when I have to hear the crap from the obnoxious and arrogant Squeeler, Patsy and Bungel fans along my routes, (and now even the Brownstain fans, UGH!!), I am finding a tiny personal bright spot. I've been watching the number of PSL's being dumped on Ebay. The number has more than doubled over the last 4 weeks. And about half of those have their prices below "market value". If the trend keeps up, I may finally be able to afford a decent set of PSL's.

The assessment of the Ravens as good/evil is accurate and is a reflection of a team that lacks discipline and focus. And if there is one player that characterizes this schizophrenia, it is Flacco. He plays like a SB MVP and a rookie with no clue, all in the same game.

@TheConquerorWorm - of course, discipline falls under the responsibility of unit coaches (DC, OC and ST). Their position coaches work for them and answer to them. But then, the HC is responsible for all of it. It is not just individual discipline, but discipline of coordinated schemes or lack thereof.
