78 posts in this topic

I'm already looking at next year and have at least 10 Ravens players who will not be with the team next year.

Retired:

Dennis Pitta

Terrel Suggs

Steve Smith Sr. ( who will be traded to Carolina so he can sign a 1 day contract )

Waived or traded:

Michael Campanaro

Marlon Brown

Chris Canty

Matt Schaub

Joseph Morgan

Ladarius Webb

Allen Reisner

These coaches will also be fired.

Dean Pees and almost the entire defensive coaching staff.

Marc Trestman ( John Harbaugh will take over as OC )

Harbs isn't a Xs and Os kinda guy. No way he's gonna take over as OC. I'm okay with Trestman actually. He's doing a good job all things considered. It's not like he has Jeffery and Marshall to count on like he did in Chicago and I feel like Joe and Marc are starting to get used to each other.

Pees on the other hand? Yeah, I can see that. Chuck might be available next season. So there's that.

The coach that should get fired, imho, is Mornhinweg. I don't think he takes good care of Joe's mechanics.

I don't think the entire defensive coaching staff will be gone, maybe Pees but not everyone. I def. say we should keep Montgomery and Monachino.

Out of that list I def. think Marlon Brown will be cut and most likely Chris Canty.

Suggs hasn't indicated retirement and wants to return.

After 2 achilles tears Suggs is done. Mechanically he just doesn't have the tools anymore.

As for the defensive coaching staff,  I said that almost the entire defensive coaching staff will be fired..

I would keep Trestman, imo. The problem I feel is we're not letting him run his own offense, we're trying to keep some of the Kubiak scheme in place. If we take the chains off of Trestman and let him run his own offense fully, he would do a much better job.

There's no way they fire Marc Trestman. The offense, incase you haven't noticed has somehow managed to be in the middle of the pack despite having a practice squad caliber WR corps, and injuries at other positions such as LT and TE.

I don't like all of his play calls, but if you go to any nfl message board you'll see armchair OC's belly aching over play calls.

Even LESS likely-Harbaugh taking over as OC.

Also, Dean Pees isn't getting fired either. If the defense had all hands on deck this season, and they STILL sucked then yeah, sure.

Our issues on defense stem mostly from injuries, then there's some FA signings that haven't panned out..

Pees has had one hand tied behind his back for two seasons.

IMO is he Dick Lebeau or Rex Ryan or Domain Capers? No. Is he terrible? No.

There have been many many more times this season when he's had the perfect defense called, but they STILL gave up an easy big play. That's a lack of talent issue.

To me, this offense looks a lot more like his offense than Gary Kubiak's. I mean they are both based on the West Coast system..so there will be similar things. He HAS gone to more of Kubiak's outside zone runs which is the strength of our running game.

It does make sense because we can easily find another team to pick up his contract and free up some salary cap room.

Who in their right mind will want to trade for Webb and his contract?!

I'll answer that for you. No one.

Is this a joke?

I thought it was a troll myself lol. The retirement section he has does look a lil legit tho for obvious reasons.  But then again I dont persoanlly think any of them will retire, even if one or two should.

You mean like he did in Chicago? That sure worked out well right? Trestman is no play-calling master nor has he co-ordinated any kind of competitive offensive scheme. Seriously-what kind of co-coordinator comes in and tries to keep the last guys philosophies in place?  Kubiak called a masterful offensive game plan. Trestman has not ! Period

I can tell you 2 teams that would take him and his contract in a second. The Saints and the Dolphins.

I think it's 50/50 that Smithy will retire. He's such a fierce competitor that I doubt he wants to go out like this..so him coming back for one more tryear wouldn't surprise me.

Suggs-Will be back.

Pitta-I'm actually hoping for his own sake that he retires. Blowing your hip out twice before you are 30 isn't good. I understand the competitive fire though.

As far as Webb goes- You are right, nobody is going to take on that contract because he is A)Playing like crap. B) Once he finally gets over the last injury and starts balking out he will come up with a hamstring or an ACL or back injury. Dude can't stay healthy....Honestly..I think this summer they should try him out at FS..maybe that sparks something.

You picked two teams that will likely have the absolute least amount of cap space, thus making it incredibly difficult to trade for a player with questionable skills and injury concerns who will make $8M next season.

From a "need" standpoint, makes sense. From a financial standpoint, makes no sense.

To be fair, a lot of people were questioning Kubiak's play-calling towards the end of last season. It seemed to be a bit lacking for a brief period of the season, even though it was brilliant in the playoffs.

Unless Suggs has indicated himself he wants to retire then he will continue to play. He has gone with the rehab and has pretty much told the team he will return.

I didn't realize Trestman was the Bears OC.

Keep um laughing and pass the biscuits !!

It's weird because the vast majority of what you said could happen. It's just that you mix in a few leprechauns with the actual living people just to see if anyone will notice.

Webb at FS would be a good experiment, that position is pretty much up in the air, there not being a real solid option atm. Probably wouldnt hurt us at FS anymore then he is now

He was the Bears Head Coach and OC. He lasted 2 years before he was fired.

Getting rid of trestman after one year and numerous injuries... Meanwhile still putting up good points, right.

Reminds me of a stockbroker saying- the price is going up, sell!

Some things will become more evident as the season progresses. Good points? We have put up 190 points which is a little better than the Browns and the Dolphins.

yes now we are in the lower half in points, but at one point we were a top ten in points i believe.  Hes doing this with out his number one and two WR's.  Who do you want us to get instead? Not saying hes the best there is but i think he is a good option for us and we need to see what he builds, one year with so many of his weapons injured is not a good baseline.

Most fans have no patience and overreact, like the thread after week one degrading Trestman's offense, commical....

The Browns have played nine games already. We aren't great, but we are 15th in points per game, so we are not basement dwellers like those guys.

1. I have no idea why people think Suggs is retiring. There's really no evidence to suggest that's the case, particularly when he knows the Ravens essentially can't cut him.

2. No reasonable person thinks Harbaugh will be an OC. If that was the case, he would be one already. He's had multiple opportunities to name himself OC and hasn't done so.

I'd write these two predictions off as unrealistic/not possible and move on.
