[News] Will Joe Flacco, Ravens Wide Receivers Get It Done Without Steve Smith Sr.?

60 posts in this topic

I think people are give Ross and Givens a bit too much credit.  Givens is a number 3 receiver at best and Ross is a number 4.  I like optimism but be realistic.

I am...  and he's very young, and hasn't been given much of a chance anywhere to show what he's got.  We'll see...

they both have been given chances and it turns out they were not good enough to play for their former teams.

All these guys have come out of the looming shadow. I was thinking that there was no one on the field except Steve Smith Sr. making plays. I'm hoping that these wide outs will grab the chance and show off their talent. Givens has to be the go to guy. I'm nervously optimistic.

Givens was a starter and very solid for the Rams, but two first round picks and an injury pushed him down their depth chart.

No, they won't. This team went 2-6 with Smith. Can it possibly get better?

They will won more than 2 games the second half of the season = getting better. Losing to the Browns hurt, the Raiders as well but they are a wild card caliber team. Second half of the season gets easier. Even the seahawks game looks winnable now. That's the game that (along with the rams game) should give our secondary a motivational boost.

The jury is still out on Givens and Ross. It's their turn to prove all the nay-sayers wrong. I am not saying they are automatic #1 WR's but that's up to them they very well could be. The ball is in their court. It's all on them to prove where they belong on the depth chart I noticed Marlon took a step back after having multiple chances to make it happen. All I am saying is lets see what they do with their shot they just might surprise a few people and turn a few heads.

It is what it is. We have the players we are going to have going forward this season. Good or bad we will soon see. This team has guts and they will do their best. Hopefully it will be enough. Go Ravens!

Will see? Our receivers are some of the slowest in the league currently ranked 28th. Believe it or not Green Bay has the slowest receivers in the league. Who knew?

If Flacco can get them the ball in space and within their catch radius, I am pretty certain every single one of our receivers has the ability to catch them. So I think we'll be fine as long as Flacco plays well and gets his offense going by carrying them.

Will Joe Flacco, Ravens Wide Receivers Get It Done Without Steve Smith Sr.? Quick answer no, they didn't get it done with steve smith how can they do it without him. This season has digressed to essentially a tryout out for next year this is the reason why we are finally adding wide receivers and the same reason John Harbaugh wants Perriman to play 4 games and the same reason Dennis Pitta is on IR. We are not trying to win 8 games in a row and make the playoffs like the propaganda on this site would like you to believe we are packing it in and playing for next season trying to decide who we should cut/keep or find replacements for.

I so hope that the team really Is doing what you say. It's the only sensible thing to do at this point, after the way this season has gone. Every close win we manage to get just lowers our pick in the draft. It does Not help us get into the playoffs. And, really, if we were to miraculously somehow get in, we'd just get knocked out in the first game. We need to evaluate for next year. It's the Smart thing to do.

Marlon is a huge disappointment, he can't catch a football

I'm glad they finally bumped him down on the depth chart. Bout time. Watch now he'll catch fire or somethin. Or just further disappoint. Edited by January J

Marlon is not a huge disappointment. He was undrafted and we have him cheap. What do you expect? Now if he was a 1st round pick or making big bucks then yes he would be a big disappointment.

“Everybody wants to go out there and prove themselves,” Brown said. “But I feel like all the guys in the room are always on fire to get the ball, whether Steve was here or not.”

^ So tired of all of the talking!  Just go do it!

As some of us have been saying, Sr was a crutch for Flacco.  With him out, the other recievers should be seeing more opportunities.  I said should.   As far as Marlon goes, I don't think he has that many more drops than most receivers.  He just needs more opportunities to get comfortable and it might help if they were mostly in his catch radius.  Hopefully Joe will spread it around more for everybody now.

I really thought Marlon Brown would be special. He had a pretty good rookie year and remember the game he had during the Snow Bowl against the Vikings. He's a big target, not that fast but I thought he could be a red zone demon. Can they please stop reporting about Perriman. We know already he's out. The only thing I want to read about him is the announcement that he will play.

It was a shock when Marlon Brown made the team as an undrafted rookie. He was undrafted for a reason. His first year was an anomaly. Since then, he shown why he wasn't drafted. Glad Givens is here.

QBs were above average in Stafford and Folk.  This magical atmosphere that you think the Ravens organization features is not existent.  WE ARE 2 and 6

Ravens WR Corps still has a lot of potential? Potential to be Practice Squad receivers. This is Tanden Doss and David Reed Part 2. "Talent" gets you to 6-2. "Potential" gets you to 2-6.

Flacco needs to step up get these guys in the flow of the game by spreading the ball around in that way he is build confidence of all his receivers. Flacco is not on an island, he needs to realize that there are more receivers on the team other than Steve Smith Sr!!!!!!!!!!! and that there is a life past SSS!!!!!!!!!!! Focus on one guy and naturally the others are going to slack off.

No doubt. The FO must have been fooling themselves thinking Aiken and Brown were legit they are slow as snails out there. The sad part is that neither uses their size to an advantage.
