[News] Will Joe Flacco, Ravens Wide Receivers Get It Done Without Steve Smith Sr.?

60 posts in this topic

"To be honest, Steve did enough impacting us and giving us a certain mentality. I think we'll carry that with us and be fine," Aiken said.

"We want to do it for ourselves, first of all, but we also want to make him proud. He did a lot to mold us to be the guys that we need to be when he's not here or when he does decide to retire. We want to take everything he showed us while he was and go out there and show it."

Yeah I can see how his passion/work ethic would rub off on younger players. That's good. And agree they are doing it themselves, it will be their accomplishments...still it's always nice to learn from the best in business a thing or two. Be nice if he's on sidelines for games too.

Just get the best route runner in the draft. Apparently it is hard to find receivers who can get separation and that is what we need. I don't care if it is in the first round or undrafted, the Ravens just need a weapon who can get open 5 or 6 times a game. Also the Ravens need to start looking at the running back position in the draft with Forsett aging and not playing as well this season, partially due because of the situations in games and the O-Line play but they need youth at that position as well.

@Trevorsteadman.... in regards to the running back position.. Ravens have 5 young backs on the roster... as for the WR... a vet is needed... lots of young talent on the roster already... If Camp can stay healthy he's a play maker... real promising TE group... Juice is a beast... wish they could figure out a way to use him more than play action or full back screens... so the Ravens have weapons... just been tough to get the desired balance of run and pass...

Turn Joe loose! Look at the games when they do that, he is awesome! As soon as Trestman starts slowing him down bad things happen. It seems like they tend to wait till the last few minutes to do this and then is when the good things happen. Give Joe more control and let him control the tempo out there and he will make plays.

Will Joe Flacco, Ravens Wide Receivers Get It Done Without Steve Smith Sr.?

Quick answer no, they didn't get it done with steve smith how can they do it without him. This season has digressed to essentially a tryout out for next year this is the reason why we are finally adding wide receivers and the same reason John Harbaugh wants Perriman to play 4 games and the same reason Dennis Pitta is on IR. We are not trying to win 8 games in a row and make the playoffs like the propaganda on this site would like you to believe we are packing it in and playing for next season trying to decide who we should cut/keep or find replacements for.

Which is not a bad thing just saying they would like us to think we are going to go on this miraculous run but that's just so we keep buying tickets n[crap] and that's totally understandable from a business perspective just disappointing how we go from sb contender to this in 8 games smh.

For the rest of the seaon can they get it done? No. This Sunday against the Jags will they get it done? Probably, it's the Jags. I can see a scary close game though

No, they won't. This team went 2-6 with Smith. Can it possibly get better?

It's possible. Perhaps not likely, but indeed possible. Keeping in mind, it won't take much to make it better.

I feel like as a team we were totally unprepared for this season and that's on the front office not on the players.

Are you saying we knew that these guys were going to go down?  Nobody expected SSS to go out.  Nobody expected Perriman to hurt himself in OTA's/Camp.  Nobody expected Waller and Campanaro to go on IR either...  Just curious how you are prepared for that, or how you plan for that.

NC, you're right....  It is possible.  We have just acquired a guy that we actually needed at the beginning of the season.  They have said that in not so many words.  Ross and Givens both have shown glimpses of what they are capable of.

I think people are give Ross and Givens a bit too much credit.  Givens is a number 3 receiver at best and Ross is a number 4.  I like optimism but be realistic.

Yes, now is their time to really take front and center. Aiken too...have seen him make some catches well covered.

I don't know why they always have to mention Perriman. The guy never even made it thru training camp. I hope Ozzie never going to sign him for any type of long term contract. Let some other team make that mistake. He will be on the field as much as Webb in his career.

Perriman's rookie contract won't be up until 2019, so Ozzie will have plenty of time to decide whether or not to give him another one. I guarantee you that he is not short sighted enough to rule out another deal or assume he cannot stay on the field because of one injury. No reasonable person is.

Me myself personally in all three regards wanna see Joe studying the pictures more instead of watching the game like us! Never see him talking to none of the WRs to find out how a WRs wants the ball placed because ball placement is important! All the new people teams will not know what to expect so let's play "LIGHTS OUT" football like in the Super Bowl! LETS GO!
