[News] 5 Ravens In Store For More In Second Half

27 posts in this topic

We still have 8 games left on this season. I am not talking next season until this one is over. I am really interested to know how the Ravens handle all this adversity over the next several games. Go Ravens!

I would love to see those 5 have a big second half. If I were to add a player or two... I would say I would also like to see Boyle continue to impress and show improvement and would love to see Perriman in action soon. Finally would also love to see Buck Allen have a much better2nd half!

It's Givens all day long if only Flacco can measure his speed. This guy could replace Torry. Although I will always miss Torry Smith as I gnash my teeth.

jernigan and maybe givens are the only ones i see doing anything this year. next year i think we'll see maxx start to blossom, rookie TE's tend to struggle for many reasons, and maxx williams not being overly big or fast was expected to struggle, he doesnt have a crutch to lean on while he learns the finer points of the game, once he gains a better sense of separation and field awareness he will be a stud, and remember hes still 21 years old. i dont think urban will ever hold up long enough to make an impact, he has a history of injuries about as long as campanaro. im on the fence about brooks, maybe he needs experience, but in his limited time on the field he looks lost, like the kind of lost that may not be fixable, he strikes me as an arthur brown type.

I agree!

Tight end is a hard position to learn but Safety is even harder. They have to know what the tight ends know plus what the running backs know and the other receivers. I think given time Brooks could be really good.

Weird statement, considering they play on different sides of the ball.

I just wish that Brooks could stay healthy because he's physical against the run, is very quick in covering the field, and plays hard, but he just needs more snaps and time to excel at the position and understand what the offenses are trying to do. Free Safety is killing us right now. Look at all of our blown plays. There seems to never be a safety in sight or they are simply getting burned. Will Hill is great in coverage and in stopping the run, but it's hard to commit him to a strict center fielder, which I hope Brooks can develop into.

P.S.- Jernigan is great when fresh, but gases quickly and starts to become ineffective. Hopefully the insertion of Urban into the line will help keep him effective and explosive.

She obviously means that they not only have to know what routes the Wide Receivers are running but they also have to be able to cover the Tight Ends and also the Running backs. Basically they have to know everything the Offense is doing while not guessing wrong and giving up a big play.

I think it is too soon to put that label on brooks. Defensive Back is probably the toughest position to adjust to coming to the nfl. The only way to get better is to be out there playing. He needs a lot more snaps to say one way or another. I definitely think the Brown comparison is unfair at this point.

No one knows how good Perriman will be (if at all) right now. I'm sick of people saying he's a bust. He's INJURED, for heaven's sake. Now, if he doesn't play at all next year either, then he was a bust. But, right now, we don't know that yet. How can anyone here say he's not going to put up great numbers next year? Anyone else tired of hearing he's a bust, at this point?

Thanks, That's EXACTLY what I mean.

This article reminds me of all those off-season articles which led me to think we were on a bee line to the super bowl.

Trust what you see on the field more than what's being said.

Brent The Urban Legend. I really hope he can stay healthy and become a great defender for years to come. PLAY LIKE A RAVEN

i admitted that its an early judgement being made with a small sample size, but im not optimistic about him. i think he may be a solid nickel corner but i have a hard time believing he can be a starter. safety is probably the most mentally demanding position on the defense, thats why its so hard to find quality play there, the position is very demanding in all aspects, players need size, length, great burst and top end speed, ball skills, secure tackling, and most importantly they need a very high football iq and awareness level to be an effective starter, it is VERY rare to find a complete package at FS and its hard just to find a guy who is competent enough to really be starting caliber. i just dont see those attributes in brooks.

Givens, Ross and the new guy on the practice squad will exceed expectations is my bet. Urban is someone I have high hopes for. And if Brooks struggles in any capacity technique/health may cause Ozzie to draft about drafting Ramsey or Hargreaves. We all know he can shock us with his thinking/picks. If it's a glaring need then I would think he make an investment that sooner rather later round wise. At least I'm praying he will.
