Wonder if they can convert his remaining contract into a coaching contract and we could have Pitta coaching our Young Tight Ends?

I thought the exact same thing. Not even sure if he is qualified but his presence always being around seems like he has the character and patience to be a coach.

It's a damn shame for such a good player and great person to have to face hanging up his cleats in his prime. He could've been one of the top TEs in the biz right now. It would seem like his playing day in Baltimore are over. Whatever he decides I wish him the very best. He's been a class act since day one!

Cut him and give him a chance to play somewhere else if he wants......and I think hiring him as a coach is a great idea(TMG).......but we can never pick up that 5 mil tab....Ever....

Cutting makes no sense because of the dead money. If we do do cut him it won't come until after June because we eat $6.6miilion opposed to 2.mill. OTOH it makes perfect sense to ride it out and see what develops through 2016 camp. If he's cleared to play and he's willing to take reduced role he may still be with us. Injuries happen and we can lose any of our three TE's  during 2016 camp. In that case it's better to have Pitta available as stop gap oppose to rookie that brought in late and doesn't know the system. In this scenario Pitta's presence doesn't cost us anything until September.

* This is all predicated on him being medically cleared , restructured and in need.

I have to think that Pitta has no plans retire because his doctors have given him indication that it's a matter of time before he can play safely- but his playing days aren't quite over. I'm sure Welker , Sr, AP , and many others have gotten got similar crossroads type news.

Dennis Pitta has been one of my favorite Ravens, all time. That's why, immediately after watching him go down, Untouched, with his second hip injury, I knew right then that I didn't want to see him get back on the playing field. He's Such a good man, a good player, teammate, and most importantly, family man, that I did not want to see his future quality of life affected by his strong desire to continue playing. I played a lot of sports in my time, and had eight orthopedic surgeries over the years directly as a result of sports injuries. And I can tell you that now, needing a cane to help me walk, helps me to know a little bit about what I'm saying. I did Not want that for Dennis Pitta. I wanted him to be able to run around a bit and jostle and play with his children, again, Not need a cane to walk and be unable to run with my three sons like me. I am very glad that he has expert advice from top notch doctors and I hope very much that he listens to them and makes the Best choice for himself and his family. Nobody loved playing sports more than I did, but I blew it. I should have put my family's best interests first. Instead, I let my love of playing be more important to me, and I feel very guilty about that. I hope better for Dennis Pitta.

What a sad story, while animals like Hardy are still out there soaking up the glory.

Well, Hardy might be soaking up the Money, but I certainly don't think he's soaking up any glory. I guess it's all in what a person thinks the definition of glory is. In my book, Hardy is Not worthy of Any glory.
