[News] Dennis Pitta Won't Play This Season

10 posts in this topic

Thats stinks. Pitta can still play, He wants to play, hes better then every TE the Ravens have. No offense but Gillmore,Boyle arent stretch the field Wr/TE Types..and Maxx Williams is not getting on the field as a receiver so that tells you everything.

Pitta should play next year, since they forced him out this year..big let down..

Really like Pitta too... sorry to hear that he won't play this season... but I thought he should have sat out the 2012... he came back to soon... and no reason to come back this season.. the injury bug has hit the Ravens hard this year... two torn biceps... two torn Achilles tendons... hamstrings... knee injuries.. back injury... shoulder injuries... smh... its crazy...

Sometimes you got to just retire for the health reasons and walk away from something you love.

Does that apply to a girl friend/wife too? :)

It was pretty certain Pitta wasn't going to play this season. It doesn't make sense period for him to take a chance however remote that chance may have been. He's already guaranteed a full salary this season regardless of whether he plays or not. So, why not rehab it even more for the next 8-9 months and get his hip even stronger? If he thinks he can play next season, some team will take a chance on him and sign him on a 1 yr prove it kind of deal and he can decide at that point if it makes sense to retire. So it is what it is. Unfortunately we have a 4MM cap hit on Pitta next season but we'll be able to overcome it given we have 3 TEs on rookie contracts.

Yet another heart wrenching detail of our 2015 season. I thought today would be the announcement of and the start of something great. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Time to focus back on this Sunday and the task at hand. Let's start the second half, 1-0. Go Ravens !
