Phil Taylor playing beside BWilliams...> Forget about running up the middle.... Even just in a goal line D! Jernigan and CDavis are more versatile and more diverse - they are the future ... but PHIL and BWill would be nasty in short yardage!

Pitta's interview showed he is genuinely sorry he can't play.  I love his final comments about the organization and him wanting to give back for everything they've done.  No way anyone would have guessed he'd go down a second time, but it happens.  I hope he gets a chance to get out there next season, but he has to have the confidence it won't happen again.

Upshaw has been close a lot and often a step behind. Most of that is bc he is a bit too heavy. HE is a great run stopper and can set and edge as good as anyone but needs to drop a few to close that extra step as a pass rusher!

Mosely is not playing bad but has struggled in pass coverage..> Funny thing is... that is what he was known for coming out of Bamma... Every Raven sux in pass coverage under Pees... when are we going to figure that out! WHen Pees Goes... Mosley wont be a victim anymore... and neither will WIll Hill or Jimmy etc!

If he's such an immovable force, why is he still available going into week 10?

He also magically got a sweetheart deal on that giant piece of land in that super upper class neighborhood outside Boston right around the time he took less money  Patriots cheating the cap like the Broncos did with Elway. But what do you expect, it's the Patriots.

Well, it is - and it isn't. As I understand, Brady RESTRUCTURED his deal - and that's NOT a pay cut. But, the result of the restructure meant that Brady voulntarily agreed to get less "bonus" for his playoff and Super Bowl wins. And that's a real loss, not just pushing money to later seasons - especially as the pats went on winniong the Super Bowl. So, while the restructure in itself wasn't a pay cut, it resulted in less money for Brady (poor Tommy :D)

And I've been fully aware that it probably interests exactly nobody on this site :)

I wonder should we just release Dennis Pitta because he wasting cap space and not playing. Could use that money for something else. Dennis Pitta should just retire for just for his health.

maybe they should sign taylor to one of those future/reserve type contracts and if he needs more surgery let him get it and hopefully he is a monster next season like he was his 1st few years with the browns. he is a top 5 d-lineman if he can return to form. we have been patient with several players over the years so what is one more

Would cost us players. Cutting him now creates less cap space, not more.

How is that cheating the salary cap exactly?

It also helps when your wife's net worth is $350M.

They won't release him now b/c of the dead cap space hit for 2016.  They can reduces his dead cap space hit by waiting until the off-season to make a decision on him.

Brady never took a paycut. That's a myth.

And Flacco isn't giving any money back either, nor should he.

On point!

@rmcjacket23 Well, if Dennis is definitely not playing next year I'm glad to take the 600K in cap savings its better than nothing right. :)

Correct. Its just not a big number at all, so I don't want fans getting the impression that cutting him frees up a bunch of money to spend on other players.

$600K in cap savings is basically right around the veteran minimum, so you would basically expect to get only a veteran minimum-caliber player.

I agree he gets cut though.

I think it is time for Pitta to hang it up. I don't think his risk for reinsuring his hip is going to get any less if he and his doctors believed it hasn't after a year of rehab. Why wait on the inevitable Dennis? Just hang it up and spend your millions in peace with you young family. You have the money now that most of us only dream of. So why wait till next year? Just do what's right by your family and the Ravens.

People are clamoring for corners in the next draft, but in light of what we've seen re turnovers, isn't it obvious that a pass rush is what we need the most? BW stuffs the run, CU sets the edge, CJ does well against the run, etc. but without a pass rush, it doesn't matter in the slightest how good our secondary is: someone is going to get open if the QB gets enough time to find them.

And I don't think more receivers are the answer either, considering we are averaging 24 points per game. With an average like that, we should win a lot more games than we have. And so I think OLBs are where we need to look in the draft.

I knew Pitta wouldn't leave the game voluntarily. The only way he retires is if he doesn't get the clear by training camp 2016. If he is cleared Ozzie would likely restructure to keep him. I think fans greatly exaggerate an NFL teams concern for a players health. They simply say the right things in front of a mic. All teams regard these players as resources to be exploited at the lowest price so I can see Pitta back 2016 if he gets cleared and he's willing to take a big pay cut.

well, Pitta might have had a chance at coming back next year, but we are stacked with sick talent at TE with Crocket, Boyle, and Maxx.....And i love the idea of Phil Taylor, i wanted him when he was released by Cleveland...Imagine when we go to our flex 4-3 and have Williams, and Taylor side by side....Good luck running up the middle....:)

I don't think Dennis should expose himself to the risk of re-injury. Most other sports, he will likely be cleared but football is a different beast.

On another note: One look at the D's third down failures is all that is needed to see that a pass rusher should be the number one target. The less time defense is on the field the more the offense is there and likely will score. There is a need for a wr but seriously, who wants to go another season of losses due to third down and fourth quarter ineffectiveness on defense?

Final note: both sides of the ball need help. Too many 3 and outs, and too many third down failure to stop.

It hurts to think about but the money that we are paying Pitta to rehab for two straight years would most likely give us enough room to realistically re-sign Osemele.

i love it when a player retires and a ton of the fans on this site say that the organization should hire them as a coach.

You made the right decision Dennis. I love you playing tight end but I don't want to see you disabled for the rest of your life. Nobody touched you and still you broke your hip. You made the right choice. But I wish it wasn't this way.
