[News] 'Clock Is Ticking' For Injured Ravens Rookie Breshad Perriman

I'm wishing him all the luck. But that write up was beyond just Osgood-Schlatter. It's a recurring theme for him. As you can see already - from training camp to now.

Nah nobody's as awesome as Ryan Leaf, Johnny Clipboard is running a pretty good race though ..... Gotta say those headphones arent a good look for training unless we're talking photoshoot for Beats endorsements already lol?

Brady Quinn...  but they were college QB's who couldn't get the system.

We aren't the only team watching our first rounder sit.  Let the guy get healthy.

Did you read his UCF archive from CBSSports I posted?  That tells you a heck of a lot more.  I liked the guy, and followed him in college...I also predicted we'd pick him.

At least Johnny Football is playing. The disappointment with Perriman is that it didn't seem so serious at the time of the injury. Didn't look that bad at all and they said structurally it was sound? They put stem cells in there to speed recovery and that was a month ago when they said we could see him in October. Now we are almost half way through November and still not practicing.

So does this mean we should give other players the same amount of time with clear costs to the team, just in order to allow him the ability to prove their worth? If so, why did we cut Jason Babin, before he could prove his worth?

Babin's inequity was due to stupid penalties that he knew netter than to do.  He's a veteran player.  Rookies and injuries aren't really equitable comparisons.

. This the same thing we have been seeing for the past month, Its time to put Perriman on season ending IR if he really isn't healthy and give a roster spot to Urban or Pitta.

I can feel the disappointment from Harbs

Sure can.  Especially after reading this....

As Harbaugh said about a month ago, “it’s probably one of the all-time slowest healing sprained PCLs ever.”

Forget the disappointment with Perriman, i'm more disappointment in the entire teams play....They came into the season cocky, and believing all the SB hype, and have gotten beat by teams we had no business losing too.

My point Mom Gene is that no matter if the player is a vet or a rookie, we should be looking at what is best for the team. The idea that Perriman has taken a spot for 8 weeks now, should show how committed the team was to him. Since my other posts did not make it to the screen, I will have to repeat what I was talking about is the difference between injury and heart. Most every NFL player has some type of injury, yet it's their heart that gets them back onto the field. All I need to say is Steve Smith and back injury, yet he was still on the field. I understand if he can't make it onto the field because of his medical past, but when does the team see his heart and his desire to make it back not the field? When does the team cut their losses and move on with the rest of the season? How long do we keep him on the roster and miss out on putting people out there that can help us win? I respect what the kid has gone through in life, but where is the line in the sand for the entire team. Remember there is no "I" in team and what you keep saying is "I" and not team. I think that is why people are upset with what has or has not been done with him.

Should have traded up for a real receiver. I'm sure you know the guy he plays for the Raiders!

That would be a terrible idea to trade that far up. Amari is a great receiver but there is no way he would be worth what we would have had to give up to get him

Are you seriously comparing a first round pick with loads of talent to a 35 y/o who was unemployed? The Ravens are being extra patient with Perriman because they feel that he can help the team, both this season and in the long run, far more than anyone that will get his spot, and I couldn't agree more. If we put Perriman on IR, no one we replace him with is going to be a major difference maker. If he can play in just a few games this year, getting him some NFL experience to build on going into next year could play a huge role in his development, and his speed and the playmaking ability he showed in college is exactly what the Ravens need on offense this year as well. In fact, it might be the biggest need on the entire team right now. I think Perriman will be worth the wait.

Pitta is proven Perriman can't even last training camp but that will not stop the great Ozzie from giving him a big contract to save face.

All Perriman has proven is he is fast at 4.22 in a straight line but Givens ran 4.41 and is not known to drop passes (13.8%) and have knee issues. I put money on Givens.

when someone gets their knee scoped, the Dr.s don't cut them. They stick a really fat needle in ur knee with a tiny camera in the end of it.. I know cuz I had it done and you can move around on it fine once the needle is out.

There has to be something up with this PCL sprain. The whole season? Really? Either this dude is just that fragile and slow healing or it's something else. You don't make it through a whole college season if that was the case. Harbs sounds seriously mad and upset, but undercover like.

It depends on how many scopes. If it is a single scope its not that bad, but when you get three and they clean out some loose cartilage... it isn't as simple as walking it off. I don't know what he had, but if it was a single scope then it should be a complete non-factor.

People have to calm down. Lol Im just as upset as any fan that our #1 pick isn't playing and that we haven't really gotten a real reason about why he is taking this long to heal. But I would rather the Ravens be overly cautious and not rush him back bc we have seen so many players get rushed back from injuries just to have their ACL tear 2 games later. Not all rookies make fast impacts on teams. I think we are so use to our top picks contributing in year one that when a guy like Perriman doesn't get to show his talents we assume he is already a bust. Jimmy Smith had a rough first couple of seasons and until his injury last season he has been one of the best corners in the league. Perriman, Williams, Boyle, and Buck Allen with a full offseason with our ravens fitness trainers and taking a breather to realize what it takes to be in the NFL will do them good. They have all shown a lot of their talents and they will only get better. Perriman was already moving up the depth charts and was suppose to be our #2 possibly #1 wr before he was injured. He is still very talented. Its not his fault his knee is causing him problems. Its just an unfortunate situation to be in and I bet he is just as mad as everyone else.

A PCL sprain can take that long to fully heal, and this isn't the first time it's happened. I posted this before, but Keenan Allen had a grade II PCL sprain in his final year in college, in October. It took so long to heal that he couldn't even perform at the next year's combine, and he ran a 4.71 40 at pro day, showing he still wasn't close to 100% yet. After about 8 months, it finally did heal, and he's had a productive career and for the most part, he's been able to stay on the field. He's on IR now, but for a lacerated kidney, which is clearly unrelated.

What does one roster spot matter in a lost season. Just move Jeremy Butler back to the PS once Pitta comes back if you need a roster spot. It's worth keeping Perriman on the roster even if it's only for 2 games.

If this is what all it takes to keep Perriman for so freakin long, what happens when he REALLY gets hit...prolly will get that nice fat contract before then..Ca-ching!.

_ Breaking News: No News Yet!_ has gotten tired and the fan base has had its fill of it. At what point do they stop digging a PR hole for this guy and simply bring him out when he's ready should that moment come? Anticipation was replaced by frustration (and borderline resentment) a long time ago and poking fans in the side with a sharp stick every two weeks isn't helping any.

He'll probably have surgery at the end of the season. As bad as that sounds.

You might be right, but why wait so long? If he gets surgery now, he likely won't be ready by next season's start

Just shut him down. Give him more time to strengthen his ligaments. No need to rush him back and risk injuring him further. We're going to need more help at wr anyway, especially if Steve retires, probably end up drafting a wr in later rounds like 3-7

I know the guy who keeps the depth chart up to date has a tough job this year, but sheesh, how much longer is Perriman going to be in the #2 hole. Seems a bit ridiculous for him to be ahead of anyone. I can see leaving Smith on the first team however, seeing as though he's going to miss half the season, he'll still lead all WR's in catches.
