Roethlisberger carted off...again.

34 posts in this topic

Got his left foot rolled over and hyper-extended.  Carted off field and taken to the hospital.  I think he's probably done for the season, but they pulled off the win against Oakland with Landry Jones.

Have to wonder if this is a serious injury if he'll consider hanging it up sooner than later.  Players in the mid-30's are start feeling their age and Jones seems to be developing nicely for them.

He has a mid foot sprain that is said to sideline him a few weeks. Not really sure on how many weeks but the Steelers have the Browns and then the bye week. If he's able to make it back for after the bye, they should be fine.

Ben isn't close to retiring.

Probably true, but it shouldn't be.

He is a warrior no question but the guy has had his bell rung more than a few times.  He wont grow old gracefully.

I think Ben's lack of durability should hurt his rating. He should be ranked behind guys like Eli and Rivers because of not being available. That is a Huge deal for an NFL QB. No NFL team can seriously compete for long with their backup QB. You just hope to steal a win or two. So it's a big deal being available.

Roethlisberger is starting to remind me of Steve McNair. A once really good QB who just started having injuries constantly mounting. Who knows how good Ben could be right now if the Steelers would have been better at protecting him for all these years.

I don't think you CAN protect a QB who won't stay in the pocket. Half the time his line has no idea where he is.

Go back.... and look to see when's the last time he played an entire season...  Makes you appreciate what we got.

Because nobody is going to care down the line when he crippled due to his constant injuries he should consider retirement in a few. He is not going to be like Brady and play to 40, he takes too many hits. There is no incentive for these players to ruin their body over a game.

You don't think millions of dollars and adoration of fans is incentive to ruin their body?

Looked to me like he is paying the price for not being in a really good shape, even for his standards. With a little less weight, his feet would have escaped from the sack that took some time - Smith first stepped on Ben's right, then fell and rolled Ben's left, injured foot.

Steelers, like us, can't catch a break with injuries this year. The best players on the team out of action.

lmao most of the players in the NFL don't make enough to ruin their body. Not every player makes 15 million a season so I don't think its worth it. By rich standards, NFL players are not even really that wealthy.

But Ben is. The incentive for getting pummeled on a weekly basis is mutli-part financial gain, celebrity status, world-class competition, being a part of a team/organization.

There are a lot of incentives for the risks that go into playing pro football - might not be your personal incentives but players make those decisions all the time.

Last year.....

My point was that 9 seasons of his career,  he has not played an entire season...  Only 3 years has he played 16 regular season games.

A buddy of mine sells real estate.  He sold a place to a guy that used to be a Redskin.  ( Dont ask me who I have no clue and it was not a familiar name ) While he had been out of the NFL for 12 to 15 years he was still a young guy, but my buddy said he walked and moved like he was 150 years old.  He said the guy claimed he hurts every single day.

I guess that's probably the norm.

If Roethlisberger waso trim like most QB's, he would be done by now considering the beating he takes.

He certainly can take some hits thats for sure. Manning would of been long retired lol. He has barely been touched in his career and looks terrible after his neck injury.

I'll also say this, Ben set the bar for the type of Quarterback you need to win this division. Don't like him much, but he's earned my respect that's for sure.
