Who needs a DB when we could take Goff and solve our biggest problem.

Meh, if we took Goff and he turned into a franchise QB, it would be hard for me to complain. Franchise QB is the most valuable commodity in the NFL, you can get quite a haul for those guys as well. Wouldn't be the best pick for next year but it could be huge in the future.

I've said it before but I think we could do much worse than taking a QB like Goff. I'd rather take Ramsey, Hargreaves and even a guy like Ogbah, but depending on who's there, I'd be all for taking Goff.

Lol, TJ Ward is FAR from average, and I wouldn't call Aqib Talib elite, the only reason that defense works is the most pass rush.

TJ Ward is a pretty damn average coverage safety with in the box skills and Talib is arguably top 15 in the league and one of the best ball hawking corners in the league

Ogbah would be a trade back target for me, but I could definitely live with Goff, and actually, I'd honestly love the pick depending on what happens with Flacco. Would still prefer other players, but no hate

Yeah I see Goff as a guy who needs developmeny anyways so having him sit behind Flacco could work. It took us so long to find Flacco where if the FO likes Goff, I would support it.

i would much rather avoid the qb controversy, take advantage of the draft position and build the team to continue in the flacco era, rather than look too far into the future. goff is nowhere near a cant-miss type of qb, and thats the only case that i think its appropriate to draft a qb. we are still just a few players away from spending the next 3-4 years in serious contention, health willing, a superstar is the kind of thing this team needs to push it over the top, not a guy who may never even take the field in a ravens uniform. how would you feel if flacco ascended over the next 4 years and then goff leaves for a starting job and fat contract, because that is exactly what would happen.

my thoughts exactly. The situation is best avoided. Sure it wouldn't be the worst move but there would be a dozen other routes that would be much smarter to take. I would rather just develop rynner behind Flacco and build up the defense. You never know what he might become either- But At least that way we aren't sacrificing anything else.

Renner's not even on the roster or practice squad at the moment.

I'd also rather trade back and get more picks if it comes down to taking a QB, but I still say we could do worse.

Yeah I would like other positions certainly but if we took him and he turned into something special, it would be worth the QB controversy to me(although I am sure these boards would become a nightmare).

i just cant envision a scenario where this ends on a positive note.

either flacco is shipped out early because he doesnt wanna restructure and we are left with an extremely raw rookie qb with no supporting cast(because we drafted a qb instead of good players, irony eh?), OR, the competitive flacco doesnt relinquish his job and our first rounder leaves for a starting job.

the odds of it playing out well are so slim, really the only chance for it to work is if he actually develops from the sideline, and flacco gets a serious injury and it turns into a rodgers situation, however, it seems unlikely

Or, get this- the front office can't reach an agreement with Flacco and decides that Tyrod learning behind Flacco is working out well, so why not let a quarterback with far more talent learn behind Flacco? They allow him to stay all three years, or contemplate cutting Joe in year three.

The front office also realizes they have a young quarterback in the wings and want to build around that, so they draft a lot of young receivers and talent to build up with him, meaning Flacco also gets to take advantage.

Then, in year three or four, Goff takes over and is completely ready. It actually worked out for Rivers, Rodgers, Brady (even if by chance), just to name three.

I'm not saying I want it to happen, but this could lead to 15 years of quarterback play at a high level instead of five with just Flacco
