[News] Ravens' Top Priorities During Bye Week

47 posts in this topic

I know we're trying to make 1st downs and trying to be better on 3rd down, specifically. However, most of the good teams (Pats / Bengals for example) try to avoid 3rd down altogether. It seems to me, that we try to run for a few and pass for a few and then convert the 3rd down and 3 or whatever. Now, last week, one thing that helped us out (and it was out of necessity) we started throwing the ball further downfield. We had a bunch of deep (15 yards or more) throws. Some were early and some were at the end of the game, but if you want to score 30 points and move the football consistently, you need to throw the ball downfield. You're going to live and die with your QB and in order to keep up with the great teams and most of the average teams, you need to do that or you will lose a lot of games with a lot of punts. Make it happen, Joe and Marc!

Ozzie is not alone in choosing our draft. Eric is there as is coach Harbaugh and the scouts and Mr.Bisciotti is also in the draft room.

But Ozzie ultimately has the last say and I'm sure they don't try to persuade him too much. Bisciotti always says he digresses in order to allow them to do there jobs. And Harbaugh can't overrule him. I believe their tier system may be actually the problem and (definitely) the scouting is pretty bad in 2 area's and creeping into others. Eric says he has to digress as well. So Ozzie has full control pick wise. I hope Ozzie evolves in order to keep up with the current trends. Smash-mouth has it's moments and tactical strikes have theres. The teams that are having the most success have common denominators. The voice of reason should exist but who this team holds that tittle.

Ok, I agree. But I think he listens to what they have to say and then he makes his choice. It is his choice to make and he must answer for that choice if it is wrong.

I just want a real update on Pitta and Perriman. They always treat injuries like they work for the secret service. The fans are the reason they all get paid like they do and it would be nice to actually know how these important players are really doing.

Dean Pees isnt the problem though.  And who else is better suited to run our defense midway through the season?  Pees is a veteran coach and coach a couple superbowl winning defenses.  Im pretty sure the problem is with some of the players and lack of talent that he is dealing with.  Remember we have a lot of young players and practice squad type of players that are playing for us right now.  If anything Pees has done a good job with the talent he has had playing.  We've had #4 and #5 safeties and corners playing in a lot of our games.  We trade for some better guys and they get hurt.  Unfortunate circumstances.

JOE FLACCO is the leader of the Baltimore Ravens! I just wish he take the "REIGNS" and take us to the next level! Run plays are the bonus but it all rides on his arm, it's been off a Lil bit off SMH but if Joe doesnt get into a groove it won't happen and it don't matter whom just walked in the door his arm will throw you open! This bye week came at the rite time! "RECOMMITED" and "FOCUSED" LETS GO!

Exactly.  How convincing are they, is my question. And if all of them are whiffing then there's a problem. So I'm inclined to believe that Ozzie's the problem and the scouts add fuel to fire. If they haven't learned their lesson in drafting receivers especially then all hope is lost in that category. Holding on to picks year in and year out for sub-par talent will never gain my support. Thats a luxury that we can ill afford. This team is a skeleton of it's former self. Rebuilding is currently happening but just isn't being announced. Joe Flaaco should asking of more money instead of taking a pay cut. Because, the cast Oz put together sucks. We've been fortunate that he hasn't been hurt.

If we do all of the above and do it well, we may win the majority of the next 8 games, not all but most of them. But, if we fail to do the things listed above, even one or a couple of them, we will struggle to win more than a couple over the next 8. It is really as simple as that. Don't give the ball away at crucial times and take the ball away at crucial times is the recipe.

Chris Hewitt our cornerback coach NEVER started as a corner in the NFL, was never a cornerback coach till this year. With Ravens was assistant special teams coach. Please explain how we expect this person to lead the cornerbacks. All our great positional coaches moved to better opportunities. I blame Harbaugh for this. Fire Hewitt and find good positional coachs

As I been frustrated with losses I realize we been that close every time, no 44-7 losses, we been a team that just couldn't finish. Maybe they running too many laps how Cary Williams said about Chip. We really can go 8-0 but are we prepared to do just that?

The offense needs to get it going. Granted the offense is looking better than it did in game one. Last season Kubiak brought in a whole new system and made it work while Trestman was suppose to simply improve upon it. I'm not giving up yet. The schedule is in our favor. Trestman needs to save his job.

My post somehow got mixed up.  The post that it is saying I responded too is another post I wrote before that one.  Must have mixed it up.  Thanks for taking the time to point that out to me. Lol
