[News] Expect Bigger Role For WR Chris Givens

77 posts in this topic

Something tells me that Givens may end up in the ravens future plans along side Waller, Camp, and Perrimen coming next season. Not to see what Morgan can do.... Thats a pretty young squad right there if you think about it...

Claim Dri Archer!! He can be our version of Danny Woodhead/Darren Sproles etc. and return kicks/punts. A little guy who can run like crazy and also catch the ball! We would have to create a role for him but he has always been explosive!

He avoids contact at all possible cost. Far too frail to play in the NFL.

The only question is why Givens isn't on the field more. I am sorry to say Marlon Brown should go. I had high hopes for him, but he has done nothing but drop passes. With the state of the Ravens, it is time to see who figures into the mix for next year. Givens and Ross should be on the field to see if they do.

Givens should definitely be starting alongside Akin from here on out & Ross needs to be the guy splitting snaps with Aiken.

But non of this will matter unless they get someone other than Doom to rush the QB.

How awesome would it be if Jacoby takes one to the house on us when we play the Squeelers? I'm glad he landed. Also, I read on br.com that we 'probably' wouldn't have won the SB had it not been for Jacoby - I want to correct that statement by saying we 'definitely wouldn't' have one had it not been for Jacoby- he as robbed of the SB MVP award.

Well nothing is holding any of the WR's back now they all are going to get their shot NO EXCUSES. I personally would like to see Givens and Morgan going deep to open the middle of the field up for the TE's and other WR's. This will help the run game out by keeping the safeties honest. The run game needs to be effective but if you got 8 or more in the box it's that much harder to run the ball and now the play action does not work and it puts more pressure on the o-line and Joe.

With Steve done for the year... Marlon is now the best run-blocking wide out on the team... Marlon has sacrifice himself and it back fired on him... his growth was stunted by the revolving door that has been the OC... plus Joe locks in on one guy... last year Steve had 79 catches to T Smith 47.... which Kamar was on pace for... so its actually not much difference in production between the two... the major difference between kamar and T Smith is that defenders respect his speed so it forced them to play honest... and we have scored enough points to win games... just the secondary has been so inconsistent...

Funny how folks use the OC excuse when referring to the receivers and running backs, but when it comes to Joe, they poo poo that...  and call him inconsistent...  smh.

Yeah, this guy makes Flacco smile, which makes me smile :) GO RAVENS!

My brother and I noticed it when he was on the jumbotron.  Flacco was sitting there looking up at the jumbotron cracking up.  It was great.

Too many people here forget what it was like in Baltimore before Joe Flacco. I just wish the Ravens would quit screwing up everything around him.

Not using the OC as an excuse but facts are facts... why do you think so many young players don't make it on teams that are constantly changing the front office... its a reason why Cincy has come back to being relevant after years of being inept... stability breathes success... Steelers... Patriots... Packers...Sea Hawks... Panthers... all have stuck by the front office... how can you play fast if you are never in the same offense twice? Remember how inconsistent we were till the playoffs? So its just facts... all these guys are young so its hard to expect the same level of consistency that Steve brings... he has defied all odds...

I've been gone a couple months and there are so many changes. I hope some of these new guys play well. Maybe we can at least not end up with a losing season. We have never had a losing season since coach Harbaugh has been here.

Givens was good on the Rams. He played really well then the Rams signed some bigger names and drafted some more wrs with higher picks. I think the guy pushed down the charts because of the value of the other players. If you invest in a couple 1st and 2nd rd wrs and you have had a reputation of losing like the Rams have had recently then front office is gonna pressure coaches to play those guys. Givens has showed his talent with us already in just 3 weeks so I expect him to play well for us. Him and Joe seem to have a feel for each other now. That effort on the back shoulder throw at the end of the game last week was a great example of that feel. I think he is gonna have a big role in the 2nd half.

Givens looked pretty good when Smith Sr. was there, the few times he got thrown too, and he's not a rookie, but Flacco and Givens have to get acclimated so we can have a speedster on the field to make defenses honest. The second half of this year for us should be very interesting and I'm looking forward to it!!! GO RAVENS!!!

Givens, Perrimen could end up being our top 2 WRs in 2016 season. Flacco has always needed speed and quick WRs to really use his arm the right way. could you imagine if Flacco had actual deep threats that could challenge the D deep along with our staple of TEs controlling the middle of the field and the seam? we would be beast and it would open so many running lanes. Stop being cute with the WRs choice and give Flacco what he needs, guys who can get the ball out of his hands quickly. I am not the biggest football mind but I do know dlinemen work off of timing alot. which means if they notice a QB holding the ball longer, they will pin their ears back and go and not worry about much else. If the QB is getting the ball out fast, they will try to stay back and knock it down. With the ability to mix up the dropback steps Flacco does, which also puts into account the amount of time he holds the ball, the D will be forced to stay honest. They expect a short pass and stay back to try and block the ball, that would open up some space for the run or a pump fake and go deep. We just need faster guys outside. We have the TEs and running game, just need some guys to back up the D to give them space.
