[News] Expect Bigger Role For WR Chris Givens

drop marlon brown and bring up daniel brown... shouldve happened sooner though

Im not sure why people are so high on Daniel Brown.  Didn't he only have one good preseason game against bad competition.  The coaches see what he does everyday and obviously he can't cut it.  We also wouldn't  have brought in Givens or Morgan if they thought he could compete.  He's just a guy on the practice squad, nothing more.

That man on the right side in the middle.. Clarence Brooks, he has the respect and love from our players especially the young Defensive lineman... I am hoping he becomes our next Defensive coordinator..

The shake-up we saw in Detroit today, may not be to far away from what may happen here people. Nobody saw that coming. At the end of the day, Bisciotti is a business man too!

Take your collective heads out of the Purple Quicksand people. This the what have you done for me lately league.

The "Joe Cool" moniker is fine and dandy- perhaps in or at a different time..... however, given the current status and standing of our team, I must now deem him Joe- "Joe BAMM ! (lets [its time to] kick it UP a notch-or two)"

Daniel Brown had one good preseason game but what has the Ravens regular season except SSS had? Seen anything impressive?

They fired their GM. Do you really think that move is not far away for the Ravens?

The teams the follow the "what have you done for me lately" creed ... and define "lately" as one or two seasons are the ones that feed at the bottom of the fish tank - not for one season - but for decades.

Well, with SSS gone, they're going to have a lot of targets to pass around. I feel like Givens is looking like our #2 receiver. I'm really hoping he keeps progressing and finishes strong. I think he could be a viable guy for us going forward.

Yeah going to the play offs 6 out of 7 years, soon possibly 6 out of 8 years, is A LOT different than not winning a play off game since Stafford was 3 years old. Outside of New England, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and New York (Giants) who have been more successful as the Ravens? 2 Super Bowls in 13 years is a great accomplishment especially when the team has only been around 20 years. The Ravens have been just as successful as Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and New York since 2000, the only team I think has been the best since then is the Patriots.

It's an ugly season all around, but the problem lies more with the defense than offense. Even with the horrible secondary we had last year, we gave up just under 19 pts per game. Now, the defense gives up almost 27 pts per game. The turnover differential is also significantly worse this year. I'm guessing its got more to do with the coaches, at least our secondary coach. Personnel-wise, we're certainly improved with this year's DBs from last year's. Yet here we are- tied for fewest INTs in the NFL and overall, one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. One thing's certain- it will be interesting to see all the coaching changes that are made at the end of this season. Maybe the Lions will fire Teryl Austin and we can get him back to coach the secondary- he wasn't the best but he was better than average and for darn sure is better than what we've got now.

Jacoby Jones signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers!...

I wonder if they discussed the play that Tomlin was on the field and Tomlin tried to trip up Jacoby when returning a kickoff.

And Normally I would say good Luck Jacoby but I obviously cannot.

maybe if joe could get the ball out quicker.... or actually move. because it seems on drives joes does breaks the pocket and run for 3-4 yards the defense gets flustered and allows a big play in the next couple of downs.

The coaching may have something to do with it, but I think there are more significant differences. Last year, our dominant pass rush could sometimes cover up our depleted secondary. We had a healthy Suggs and McPhee along with Dumerville. Plus, we had a healthy, dominant Jimmy Smith for half the season last year. He clearly isn't the same after his injury. Also, I think we had 4 consecutive games last year against backup qbs. We've played against 2 backup qbs this year. I think Haloti Ngata led us in ints last year, so it's not like the lack of turnovers forced by the secondary is anything new.

2-6 and we in the wild card hunt, 2 games behind the Bell-less Steelers, half game ahead of the browns. We have to end better than Steelers, jets and raiders.

Bengals #1 in the league first time since year 1549, kudos to Marvin Lewis.

I believe that was the same year Marvin Lewis was born.

If they can't win a playoff game with that stacked team they should fire him IMO. It's worlds better than the last Ravens SB team. If Dalton can't make it happen in the playoffs there is literally nothing else that team needs.

A really good pass rush will mask a weak secondary. I honestly don't believe we have a weak secondary. Will Hill is graded as a top Safety, and Smith and Webb (When healthy) are solid CBs. I honestly think its the lack of pass rush. This is the NFL and you cant expect a corner to cover for that long. Coupled with them playing 6 yards off the ball at some points. I don't understand the reasoning behind that. Our offense if far from the problem this year. With Cap space opening next year, and maybe a decent draft, we should be fine.

Yup, that!

And the fact that these QB's have all day long to stand back there an allow the receivers to get open is even more disheartening.    Defending the pass nowadays is hard enough.  Let alone to not pressure these guys.  When we do get pressure, we are effective...

Marvin Lewis has been the Head Coach of the Bengals since 2003. He is the second longest tenured coach behind Bill Belichick and he is 0-6 (.000) in the postseason. He must have some serious dirt on the owner of the Bengals, because he should have been gone long ago.
