[News] Late For Work 11/5: Ravens Not Joking About Going 8-0. Can They Really Do It?

Incorrect about two things. St Louis, Cincy, and Pittsburgh have winning records. Second and more important, a 1-6 team has made the playoffs:

In the Super Bowl Era, only ONE team has started 1-5 and made the playoffs; in fact, they started 1-6. The 1970 Cincinnati Bengals won their Division and went on to the AFC Playoffs. They were shutout in that Playoff game by the BALTIMORE Colts, 17-0.

Pittsburgh is 4-4, therefore, they don't have a winning record.

I know Bisciotti was questioned within a past article about hiring Ray Lewis as a Linebacker Coach. He basically stated why would Lewis who is earning a seven-figure salary per year with ESPN be interested in a Linebacker Coach position.

Some Defensive Coordinators earn seven-figures. Lewis has contract obligations with ESPN, I just wonder if it even would be possible one day.

Everything would have to break right for the Ravens to sweep their remaining games, just as everything went wrong for them to lose six out of their first eight games.

I don't know why anyone would say anything negative about Suggs.

Well, he was being bashed on the forums for not being around the team while he was injured, despite the fact that he wasn't able to walk for most of the time so far.

HUH?? Thanks for clearing that up. I don't know Suggs personally but I know he has heart. People should just let the guy rehab and rest the way he and his doctor see fit.

I believe we can go 8-0 for the rest of the season. But with our luck, we'd still miss the playoffs :D

if our defense can find its killer instinct again, our offense can keep us in it.  if they can get more three and outs and find a way to close out games, things breaking our way could lead to big things.

Well, lets see, NO. The Ravens cannot go 8-0. 5-11 seems a tad negative, so the truth will most likely be in the middle, sadly more toward 5-11 than 10-6. There are just too many close games, and, against good teams, the Ravens will not win them. Their suspect (laughable) pass defense, and the inconsistency of their quarterback, make this 10-6 crap about as believable as the Tooth Fairy. Geez, I wish we had columnists who would tell it like it is. The Ravens are not a good team. They are a middle of the pack team, who, with a couple of breaks, could have won 2 or 3 more games. Good teams make their own breaks. They overcome. They have field leaders. The Ravens do not.

"can ravens really go 8-0 the rest of the season?" christ i hope not....i was starting to like the idea of a top 10 draft pick its a lost season anyway

Unless someone that they picked up ends up massively overproducing and being the free agent deal of the century I think 8-0 is a fantasy remembering the two wins we have came from an OT game and a game where we won by a field goal in the last couple seconds to avoid OT. I know the other games were close but in close games we are 2-6 so unless we just picked up an unknown superstar, no way.

6-2.... would be a great accomplishment... to not have a losing season after the start we have had and the adversity that we faced. Even 8-8 could give us the momentum we need to spring board us into next seasons super bowl run! (Then Suggs and SSS could retire Super Bowl Champs and go out like Ray did!)!

Seahawks will be tough, but that is a home game. Steelers will also be tough, but again home game. The rest is win-able. The Bengals may nothing to play for in the last game and rest their starters (besides, I'm tired of losing to that team). 8-0 is possible. BEAT. THE. ODDS!

The Jags, Browns and Chiefs should be wins... The Sqeelers in BMORE and Seahags coming across country don't play well... so we could steal two more (that would be 5 of 8) The Rams are beatable and The Dolphins are as well... The Bengals we have struggled with and could ruin it but we are saying all of these games are winnable for the team we were last season... not the team we are now. We simply are not very good on defense.... and as long as Pees continues to hold those reigns... I think we will give it a good run but drop the close ones (Bengals, Seahawks, Sqeelers) finishing the season at 7-9.... making a valiant run but in a microcosm of the season... fall a little short again!

I would feel much better about our chances at 3-5, instead of 2-6. Once again, just like the last time we missed the playoffs, losing to inferior teams(Cleveland and SF)is gonna come back and bite us in the behind!

uh....The inferior teams killed us.....whats that make us?.....Less than inferior?

Looking at the AFC wildcard race, it may be safe to say that the 6th seed that sneaks in will have a record of 8-8 or 9-7 at best. Alot of the teams that will be fighting for that spot all either have a tough schedule coming up and have to play eachother so the losses will pile up. If we can go 6-2 in the last 8 games, you never know we may sneak in. If we go 7-1 i like our chances.

Everything has to go right for that 8-0 but so far everything has gone wrong SO Why not! It would be great to see the faces of the naysayers if we did that lol. Go Ravens!

Here's my advice to the Ravens: Stop talking.

Why even state that you intend to finish out 8-0? The last time we followed up a win with talk, we were saying how the big win in PIT was going to propel us and we were going to start stacking wins. Instead, we followed that up with (what I still believe will prove to be our season killer) ... a home loss against the Browns.

Just say we'll approach each game as a must win and see what happens.

I'm hoping for a 8-8 season. In fact, I'd call that a victory after the start we've had. I know a lot of people are wanting us to tank and get an early draft, but I'm mixed on that train of thought. First, an 8-8 finish would still get us a fairly decent pick. Second, if we did get the #1 through, say, #4 pick, most likely Oz would trade it down anyway....IMO.

They can but it will be a lot more effort with inexperienced players. At least it will give those players time to develop. I am really hoping that Maxx Williams pans out as a draft pick. It may take another season but I think he can be like Eifert. Maybe not Gronk ability but Eifert or Olsen ability. We really need those plays in the middle of the field.

So that would mean a 10-6 season overall. Not bad if they can pull it off. But of course the devil is in the details. Like the details of how they are going to pull it off. It would make major headlines if they do it though.

2012 divisional round vs the Denver; do you think the rest of the world pick the injured, beatup Ravens to pull off the upset against the Denver? or would they think the Ravens win when the Denver up by 7pts in 50s left of the game? hell no....even most loyal Ravens fans would think we were 99% lose that game.

However, the big difference was we had the legendary master Ray Lewis on the team at that time. This time, we don't have him; however, he did give us a powerful pep-talk which will carry us for the rest of the season....in short, just believe......

...And Harbaugh was hired by Ozzie and Ozzie was hired by Bisciotti.

So I guess we just fire everybody, including the owner.

Good luck with that.
