[News] Ravens Sign Wide Receivers Joe Morgan, Chuck Jacobs

54 posts in this topic

Why are they showing a video from 2012? That was 3 years ago.

Yeah, it's sad when your best highlight is a catch from 3 years ago with blown coverage by the secondary.

instead of signing all of these below avg. receivers use the te's that we have. maxx and crocket should be in on 85% of the plays together with a dose of boyle here and there. they all have great hands and descent speed. if pitta is able to play than use him in the slot or out wide on occassion.

Welcome to the Flock Jacobs and Morgan, teams have no film on all that's happening now and this can be to the Ravens advantage and light up some secondaries! I heard teams know most of the Ravens premium packages so this will definitely switch things up downfield! LETS GO! Wildcard bound!

man, i thought the ravens went crazy and signed two former baseball players when i heard the names. i wouldn't doubt it either with all these steps backwards with injuries and potential failures.

Pure hind sight though. These comments are only being made after seeing that Steve Smith is out for the year, that your 1st round pick hasn't gotten on the field, and all of the young guys that fans were clamoring for more of basically are terrible.

maybe theirs are.

i have actively been predicting this inevitability for years.

Why is everyone talking about Daniel Brown like he was a star in training camp and for some reason the ravens haven't given him a shot, I never heard about him making a good impression on the coaches during training camp, he wasn't a hot topic like Butler was, he was barely mentioned? He made 3 nice plays in the last 2-3 minutes in the last preseason game and that was literally all he did. For this team to have one if not the worst receiving cops in the league, and the ravens still not at least put him on the PS, there's probably a reason why... he's simply not good enough.

I agree with the greek....

split out maxx williams, obliviously hes not ready to be at the line of scrimmage. We have 3 with a possible 4 if pitta decides to come back. But i noticed when SSS went down last game Joe was forced to throw at the other WRs and look their way, and it worked out. I will always want SSS on the field but maybe is a blessing in disguise that he went down making Joe have to throw it. Also i think marlon brown needs to get his weight up or Tresman isnt putting him in a position to succeed, use him ala Marqeus Colston on the saints sort of like a WR/TE

I just cant get excited about this.Show a highlight reel of Marlon Brown in 2013 as evidence of his big play making ability.

What has he done lately?

Givens and Ross seem to be working out so far, why not these guys? If Ozzie likes em' I do too.

and they've been getting increased snaps pretty much every week. We still needed somebody to fill Steves spot, and arguably could use one more atleast until perriman gets on the feild.

I wasn't an Aiken/Brown or young guy fan either. But then again, I thought it was laughable that people thought Michael Crabtree was going to be the savior, considering nothing he had done indicated that.

The solution, for me, never involved FA signings in July.

throw it against the wall and see what sticks. Maybe Morgan will be serviceable. There is a reason they are on the streets. Hakeem Nicks must be awful.

There is a diamond in the rough out these two signings. Watch. And my bet is it's the guy from the saints. The Saints typically pickup well rounded receivers.

Like they say, "seeing is believing". Can't get to worked up over this addition. Have to wonder why Morgan was still out there at this point. The Saints aren't doing anything either and I wonder why they let him go when they could use the talent for sure. Lately, I can't get to spun up over any new signing. These are Band-Aid fixes that have the look of desperation on them to me.

One more thing on Morgan. Once Flacco throws to him and he drops the ball, he won't be a target any more. we all know that Joe has a favorite and once the defense recognizes that player, the door gets shut and they struggle through the game. We cannot forget that the secondary is still the weak link on the team and nothing has been done to address that problem that can improve the coverage back there.

So we signed a guy who only caught 14 passes in 2 1/2 seasons from pass happy Drew Breeze over a savoy veteran in Hakeem Nicks? Are you serious? I think I can see Harbaugh out the door at the end of this season. Surely this cannot be the doings of Ozzie Newsome. No DB in the world? No we are supposed to be excited about two receivers with no credentials? I'd rather we had signed the kid we had during preseason, the guy who blocked a punt and ran it in for a TD? And caught another touchdown? I believe his name was Daniel Brown. Can any of these receivers play Corner Back?

In Ozzie we Trust? We select Jason Babin over Dwight Freeny, now we take Morgan over Hakeem Nicks? And no CB. Or is this the case of Harbaugh avoiding Veterans because they might speak up for themselves? That's what happened to many of our good players, Boldin, Pollard for example. It would have also been Ray Lewis and Ed Rred but Harbaugh knew the Fans would have had his head on a Platter. This really are not looking too good. Can we just do like the Colts did to get Andrew Luck?
