I assume you mean better than jacoby is now.  Ross and Givens have barely any time returning kicks

His stats aren't that bad... but yes, we'll see what happens...

Ross had 7 kick returns for 205 yards...  Yds/Return avg. are 29.3, and he has a long of 46.5

Yes, he had 1 fumble if you check his personal stats on the roster page.

I wasnt happy when we let him go, it was obvious we lacked that explosiveness on SPT, but he was too costly

actually many kind of were lamenting his absence until we brought in Ross .

I wasn't upset because he was far from special in 2014. I was a bit surprised he got released because I wanted to see the contingency plan, but he just was far from the same person.

And I'd like to see ten people who were lamenting it. Just because two people said it 100 times does not make it many.

It's a business, we were thisclose to signing James Harrison back in 2013 before a certain fax scandal.

In hindsight, he'd have been a good signing...

Jacoby had Many....

Much larger sample size and Ross has been known as a fumbler .

Lets see how Ross plays out the rest of the season.

Yeah agreed just so he doesn't go off on us lol although I won't complain about Doom.

*Harbaugh trips Jacoby as Revenge*

Eh it sucks but as of right now so does he. I'd probably take Givens and Aiken over him as a WR and Ross as a return man. Jacoby was doing

Horribly in SD and was awful last year.

Would have taken some pressure off of Doom this year, but yeah, I'm happy with Doom, for sure.

Imagine if we had him last year, our pass rush would have been even crazier

I think it's fair to say that there were more than 2 people who were upset with the release of Jacoby. Try hundreds. Especially when we had no real backup plan in place. And it showed throughout preseason and up until we got Ross. Yeah I'm talking about fans in the grand scope of things throughout Baltimore and ravens nation - not strictly this board. ( where there were still dozens).. Shoot go look at some of the comments on baltimores Facebook page around late August and into September ...and tell me how many say bring back Jacoby. And In no way am I saying it was even warranted- but he was missed. Edited by January J

My question would be... how many fans were actually missing him based PURELY on what he did between the white lines? I'd say the overwhelming majority of Ravens fans that "missed him" missed him based on Jacoby Jones the personallity, not Jacoby Jones the football player.

Sure but I wouldn't say the majority. They missed him based on the Jacoby jones from 2012- and thought that somehow he would just magically return to that form.

I confess... I just wanted to take my Jacoby Jones bobblehead back out of the box.  :D

(But yeah, I was hoping to see the WR more than the punt returner in him.)

My question to you as a "fan" would be whether or not you "miss Jacoby" for whatever reasons?

They missed him based off of his being a return threat at any given moment.  Sure, not all of the time but the anticipation to see it was good.

Nope, I don't miss him for any reason. I don't develop emotional attachments to players for obvious reasons.

I develop an emotional attachment to the team/franchise, not the names on the jerseys, as they change annually. When I can't determine what upside a player brings at this moment, it doesn't do me any good to want him wearing the team jersey that I cheer for.

Jacoby's first punt return was minus 3 yards.

He looks done.  I don't see much explosion left in him.

He also looks awful in a Steelers uniform though.

His knee was down before the ball even came out of  his hand on that fumble. I don't really call that a fumble more like bad judgement call by the refs.

Kool! I clearly get your point and understand it. Others though, unlike you, do get emotionally attached to players for whatever reasons they choose to do so.  Jacoby Jones is one of those type of players it seems.

I'm also pretty sure that they are aware that times have changed in the NFL and a specific player(s) may not remain with a team the entire duration of their careers.  That doesn't mean that you shouldn't connect with or like that player.  It is actually the "players" (individual people and their personalities etc.) that make a team cause without them there is no team...period!  No one that I know of and definitely not me; goes into a store and just ask for a Ravens "nameless" jersey hanging on the rack.  It is "the name" of a player that generates that type of inquiry regardless of his tenure and some times regardless of his production with the team.  Just my 2 cents.

It was a bad call but they reviewed it and called it a fumble . He still has to hold on to the ball .
