Jacoby Jones released..

Would we want him back?  A deal at $900,000.

:( This just makes me sad. Was sad we let him go for minimal cap savings and would not have any issue if they brought him back. I do not see it happening though.

Ah so Jacoby Jones is the next one, at least this one makes somewhat sense considering our hole in the return game. Wouldn't be against it at this point but it isn't like we are a couple players away from the playoffs either.

Well, we could say he's not worth much. Then we can consider that we're working out Nicks. Personally, I'd rather see us giving our gaggle of youngsters more playing time and see which ones are worth keeping.

However, if we're bent on bringing in washed up vets like Nicks, I'd rather we bring back one that at least Joe has some familiarity with.

Agreed. If we're bringing in another vet at the end of his playing time, let's bring back one who won't take long to get chemistry with Flacco.

Besides, JJ adds something to the return game as well.

In terms of hitting receivers in stride going deep, Joe was as good with Jacoby as anyone I've seen. Then again, Jacoby would still have to actually catch the ball. They dropped him the same day their number one goes to IR? Doesn't sound like he showed SD very much to inspire confidence.

while i wasnt the biggest jacoby fan in his time here(i liked him alot as a character and returner but hated his bad decision making and unreliability) i would love to see him back here. he left a HUGE impression on this team in his short stint, and a pretty positive one, he was one of the most respected and loved people in that locker room and around baltimore, for a deal less than 1m? 100% yes, if not for his character and return ability alone. he is the kinda guy i think we need to keep this rebuilding teams heads in the right place.

He's been rated as one of the worst returners this year.  Word is that SD got tired of him making poor decisions on fielding punts or not.  On Sunday, there was one around the 20 that he let go that was downed at the 3.  I haven't watched much of the Chargers, but apparently that's been a consistent issue this year for him.

Not catching that punt in the 4th quarter last week did him in at SD.

If the Ravens are looking to bring in a vet that has been sitting at home on the couch for similar $ it would seem to be a no brainer that Jacoby would be the better choice.

The only reasons I could see them bringing him back are Nostalgia and an extreme desperation for a WR. Keep in mind the Chargers just lost their #1 WR for the season and they STILL cut Jacoby.

With that Said, I'd be so down for him coming back

Yeah - that really did hurt. They couldn't get out of that hole. It set the tone for the remainder of the game.

He really can't play that well anymore. But I sure do miss him. If anything for just a positive attitude and nostalgia purposes. He's not going to win us any games but man was he beloved here.

This is one player I would welcome back to the nest no questions asked. Jacoby not only adds in the return game but gives Joe a familiar receiver he knows.

I know Oakland may offer a bit more than we can but would love to see him back in purple.

Unless we're bringing back Bolden, Smith, & Rice, no! We're in rebuilding mode now, so i think its best to use what we got! Givens and Ross should be getting a lot more playing time!

Right, because Jacoby is nothing unless complemented by very specific players that just happened to be on the team in 2012.

I love Jacoby, but his poor decision making hurt us last year and got him cut again this year. If he's still fast, we could use him as a decoy WR and just throw the ball his way once in a while to keep defenses honest. He might actually catch it now and then. Otherwise, might as well roll with what we have.

I wouldn't hate it. We wouldn't have to give anything up for him now that he's been released ( and its obviously past the deadline anyway) and we could probably get him dirt cheap. He potentially fills two needs, and he's got familiarity with joe. I mean we're looking around the bottom of the barrel anyway at guys that couldn't get a job with 4 other teams, and right now we just need bodies to get us through the end of the season. It doesn't mean we have to bring him back next year when we start over, it would be basically just a 8 week rental. And hey if he returns to 2012 form, cool....if not then we move on and at least he got a nice homecoming. I just can't really find a reason why not- other than us having to potentially part ways with him for a second time. The first time was hard enough. Don't get me wrong I haven't forgot what he looked like last year ...the bad decisions and the dropped balls. But he would give us that extra speed threat- and he just simply can't be much worse than Marlon brown. Could he? Well...I don't know. Lol all I'm saying is I wouldn't hate it.

I hear ya, and I'm okay with that as well. But if we're looking at guys like Hakeem, I'd rather have JJ>

the only value jones brings to the table at this point in his career is returning kicks/punts, which he has been terrible at in SD. ross has been doing a good job since we threw him back there. at this point the only reason we would make trades or pickups is to help the team in the future, not the present.

so simple answer: no, dont bring him back.
