[News] How Is Breshad Perriman Handling His Injury?

96 posts in this topic

His spirits should be high he has gotten a paycheck and has done nothing to earn it so-far. Sorry I think I am just disappointed in how his young career has gone so far. I just hope he is not an injury waiting to happen type of player.

Play for what ? We could add another top wide out high in the draft and prep for a 4 year run instead of a 25th-29th pick in the 2016 draft.PLEASE !

Extremely frustrating with the extended healing time and a huge need for WR's but I still think he will turn out to be a great pick for us... just not this year

Remember this was a guy Harbaugh said would miss "a day or two" of practice when the 'injury' initially occurred. I still don't get it; there is something someone isn't saying. At this rate an ACL tear would be a definite career ender for Perriman.

Weird article......when you attempt to write about a guy's mindset regarding an injury, when he has not played a regular season game yet, you are probably putting him into a no-win situation.

Chargers release Jacoby Jones... Bingo bring hi, back on vet minimum... 31yrs young...familiarity and gamechanger...stretch the field threat even with his shaky hands.. Hes best WR on team now that sr injured.

Add him to Givens two deep threats...more potent offense opens up underneath stuff

How could our scouting department miss this red flag (I found it on google). He has a condition, and Perriman's knees just buckle by walking. I mean he definitey fits the profile of being Ozzie's pick as far as being injured all the time, but we should not have leveraged our whole season on this young, inexperienced, and injured player: Oz messed up, and I think he knows it now- hopefully, he'll learn. Hopefully, he won't forget to draft us some cornerbacks next year regardless of taking the best player...

The messed up part about Perriman is if he turns out to be a stud, then we'll only have him for three years since this year is a wash. Then what happens, Ozzie will let him walk like he did with Boldin, Torrey and Jacoby- to the value in this pick is severely diminished since we're only going to have him for 3 years. I'm really sick of Ozzie's rent-a-reciever (and cornerback) philosophy and hopes he changes it for the better!

i have seen you post this same concern repeatedly, and i have also seen it rebutted repeatedly, and you have yet to address any of the rebuttals, so here it goes again...

osgood schlatters is a disease that affects adolescents, to put it as simply as possible, the tendons and ligaments in the knees dont grow as fast as the surrounding bones do when hitting the major growth spurts during the teenage years, its fairly common, and the ligaments DO in fact catch up and grow back to regular size, and at that point it is a complete non factor, the disease is essentially gone once the soft tissue in the area grows to adult size.

this has been stated by doctors in the organization and on other sports outlets, and if you would do just a small bit of research you would see for yourself, but obviously you could care less about facts and youre just another troll calling for ozzies head with no real knowledge of whats going on, and literally spamming these boards on every single perriman page with a post that is practically copy and pasted.

also a few tidbits for ya, his father had osgood schlatters as well and played for a decent stretch in the NFL, and his career was 100% unaffected by it, i know a guy who has been installing carpet for over 30 years who had it, he says his pain stopped his junior year in high school and he hasnt felt a thing in his knees since, and id be willing to bet a career carpet installer takes a worse beating on their knees than a football player does.

I would sit him out for the remainder of the season, especially the way our season is going! We have lost so many players this year, why are we rushing to get him back on the field? I think its a big mistake. Lets get him healthy for next year!

I think we all want to see Perriman on the field against the Jaguars. Who knows. I'm pumped up for it. If his injury takes more time to heal so be it. How much time will he need to practice his routes and timing with Flacco? This isn't a season ending injury. Every Sunday I take another deep breath waiting for the day to come.

I agree regime... sit Permian until next season, especially with his history of a disease in his knees.

Give the guy a break. A typical non-operative PCL injury is 6-12 months recovering time. Anyone expecting him back sooner than January is foolish. Labeling a player a "bust" because he got hurt is also foolish. Dante Fowler, Leonard Williams, Kevin White, Breshad Perriman, Devin Smith, Cedric Ogbuehi, DeVante Parker, Shane Ray, David Cobb, Jay Ajayi, etc are not "busts" because they got injured.

Why this is taking so long only he and his doctors know I guess but it sure would be nice to have kicked the tires on him for a few games so we knew what we could expect from the guy. It would be good to have him out there a few games this season to get his feet wet so I hope he gets out there soon. He will take a year or two to develop so the quicker we get him on the field, the sooner we'll have our #1 WR ready to lock up for 6 years!

Someone said Jacoby looked sad.....who cares. What he looked to me was a major waste of dollars by the Chargers....better them, then us wasting money. He wanted big dollars for being a returner. In this day and age...there are very few kick offs returned, and punts as well.

He was a favorite, but he made a choice....now he lives with it.

You have a  valid point,  but you have to see what this guy brings to the table.  If he goes out there and struggles than Ozzie is probably drafting two receivers in the  first 4 few rounds.  If he looks like a first round pick, than you only need one.

Of course,  a lot of that depends on what Smith decides to do.
