Look at all the teams that Nicks has worked out for and he still does not have a job. Alarming. Red Flag. Must be a reason. We should still be cautious even though we are supposedly "Desperate".

Well deserved props to Doom. When Suggs went down, Doom stepped up, said he was ready and willing to enlarge his role from primarily a pass rusher to also take on more responsibility on running plays. I have noticed Doom out there making play after play in the run game. I have been impressed with Doom's contributions in this expanded role and for rising to the occasion when the team needed to rely on him. Good job Doom.

I didnt follow Nicks' career, so I dont know how he has been health-wise, but I cannot help remembering that in the off season all you could hear and read about him was that he has nothing left in his tank, his legs are done, his speed and agility are a thing of the past and that there is no way he can once again be anything remotely what he's been when he was in his prime. I don't know of course, how trustwprthy these reports were - but when ALL you read about a player is like this, it certainly makes you wonder and think twice.

i would just give butler the reps. there isnt anyone worth bringing in unless we sustain another injury. i would still see if atlanta would give up roddy white for a 6th

Wow! Colin Kapernick, the guy who gashed green bay for 180 something yards on the ground is now benched for Gabbert. Did he regress? Maybe not. I'd say that he isn't being allowed to use his legs and trying to convert him to a pocket passer is the issue. This is what a coaching change can do to a player. The whole 49ers org. is a mess now.

Ozzie, don't sign another receiver at this point - they have issues that's why they're on the street. They will sit for a month to learn to offense and Ravens Way. Let's be real: this season is toast and it's time to evaluate and develop the current players. Put the ego aside!! Dance with what we got. Want another WR body - move Brown from the PS!

Shoot... Sorry, I negged you by accident - I wanted to upvote this :( Sorry.

Basically, this isn't the time of year when you get impact wideouts off the street. Whoever is still available is - as you mentioned - available for a reason. I can totally see the point in bringing in a vested veteran for the veteran minimum, no guaranteed portion kind of contract, I'm just afraid people will think he's brought in to any kind of replacement for Steve Smith - which he obviously won't be. On the other hand, he's a cheap roster depth option who can bring veteran presence to the locker room.

Makes you appreciate Flacco, doesn't it?  He may never make a Pro Bowl, but he's not a flash in the pan, either.

I wouldn't be too exited about Nicks, but Harbs reportedly has a habit of being ultra thorough and that got us Kubiak.... Can't hurt to kick the tires on Nicks even if we don't take him in. The only thing I see is if he is a Ravens guy, meaning that he really needs someone to listen to him and let him be himself, all the other teams listed don't necessarily allow players to do that. Long shot, but it can't hurt to work him out.

I'm for giving Butler the reps, he can catch.

Wisenhunt just fired!

He's been worse than terrible this season. Reports say that his fellow players sked for him being benched - to have time to "clear his head up".

Kaepernick was, IMHO another example of the "one or two good games and already tabbed as the next Unitas" menatlity of the NFL "experts" who don't really seem to understand the notuon of perspective: when a player has 2-3 great games - or even only one outstanding game - he's immediately heralded as the Next Big Thing. On the other hand, if a player has several solid seasons, and goes on having 2-3 bad games the next season, he's immediately thrown to the ground.

Kaepernick had a very good first season - mostly due to his mobility - and the whole NFL scene saw the next Great QB in him - although some of the more sane pundits cautioned about his limitedd poassing abilities - seldom a good thing for a QB... - and limited defense-reading and decision-making abilities. When the opponents' DC's learned how to keep him at bay, he suddenly became a subpar QB - and it's probably much closer to reality than when he was treated like the second coming of Brett Favre.

No worries. Negs really don't bother me.

You are correct about bringing in a veteran. I welcome that. Whomever they decide on should actually be of some help tho. I think (here comes the negs now) Reggie Wayne would be a real good fit for Flacco. Not too fast to out run Joe's throws but a crafty route runner to move the chains. Not to mention he would probably come cheap.

Wonder what Torrey must be thinking now, seeing that he's getting passes from Kaepernicsk less frequently than christmas presents, while Flacco could kill for a legit target...

Wow. Being benched is one thing (especially for Gabbert) but to have your teammates, your brothers asked to have you benched, that's just bad. Have to wonder where do they go from here?

I would rather promote Daniel Brown from the PS than have us sign a washed up Nicks or Wayne. Regardless of the inexperience or game day chops.

"Ravens have 3 INTs on 288 opponent passes. Rate of 1.04% is lowest in league, have not had INT in almost 5 1/2 games "

Also, when was our last sack?

As I understand, they asked for him being benched in his best interest - so he can have time to sort things out and get back on the right track (I guess mentally). So, it was kind of for him, not against him.

flacco turned down the pro bowl last season so he would not miss the birth of his son. i believe he was an alternate choice

I understand Torrey wanting to leave for warmer weather but I actually feel bad for him.. I wouldn't mind at all if we happened to miraculously trade for him. Oh and does anyone else have no idea what to do this Sunday? No Ravens football is a nightmare..

I guess I get it, but how does that "Help" him? demotion, sitting on sidelines watching, just knowing that they don't want you out there, even if it was meant to be helpful it kinda just makes it hurtful. I'm sure Kap is thinking that whatever it is he could just play through it. Now he doesn't have that chance.

I would agree - as, in spite of the W I still think our season is beyond repair - so why not use it to evaluate talent, right? Brown - while very probably nowhere near truly NFL-ready yet - has definitely shown potential in the pre-season, that would merit some further testing. adly, the WR's we got from the undrafted pool would typically last for one or two seasons: Deonte, LaQuan and more and more apparently Marlon Brown... all good for a season or maybe two, but spectacularly unable to progress beyond that point. That's why it could be immensely useful for Dan Brown to get tested as soon as possible.

Good for you. I wish everyone here was like you. Negs are negs. It just means someone disagrees with you. I hate it when people hold back in fear of negs. Go out on a limb. Say what you believe is right. Unless you attack a person instead of his action or opinion.

We can agree to disagree but we can never agree if we don't share opinions ;)

Maybe the time off the everyday buzz and the media attention may help settle things down...

Also, we don't know whether his demotion was because the players' request was heard, or simply because the coaches decided he's not good enough anymore. Might easily be the latter.
