[News] Steve Smith Sr. Hasn't Made A Decision On Returning

39 posts in this topic

Steve Smith is a warrior and has more guts than most (like that overpaid Breshard). No one doubts his desire or competitive nature, BUT, there comes a time when all athletes have to move on. He is at that point. He will be 37 and the injury he suffered is enough. Hats off to him. No one will think any less if he cashes it in. The Ravens will be just as bad next year as they are this year. They are not even close. So, why should he return?

They need someone who actually can spot a healthy horse with talent for their expensive QB. They are in a rut when it comes to finding play makers. If they go to the well once more and put off finding a future receiver to join Breshad and someone with a bill of health for corner and safety it will only make the rebuilding process more difficult. They found Brandon they can find what they need they just have to get their act together. The team on the field represents the state of the front office. Ray has left the building.

STOP STOP STOP ! All this Steve Smith talk...We need to develop younger players and stop the patch work football schemes.

Well, the injury just happened a couple days ago, so there will be talk. But I get the point ... this is a topic for the off-season when we need to work out what our 2016 roster will look like.

In the meantime  ... we've got 8 opportunities to see what a flock of inexperienced WRs and TEs can do. Well be working on determining which ones are keepers and which ones are cast offs.

Hire Smith as a WR coach if he doesn't play. He knows how to play, maybe he can teach the guys how to as well. The ones we have now have no fight/fire in them; they need Steve's aggressive attitude to fight for the ball and not give up. Wish him the best, really hope he comes back (in some capacity).

It really sucks, losing Smith Sr but the game does go on.

Personally, I hope he rehabs well and comes back to help us out next year.

He's a class act and he deserves to go out with a smile on his face and a couple more records. He owes it to himself and the very least, we owe it to him.

Get well soon Steve and maybe, we'll see you next year?

Whatever decision he makes may derail the process of finding future receiver's. (i.e.) Pitta.whom is counting largely as an inactive player and roster spot. I primarily hope that he makes his decision quickly. If he decides to continue it would most assuredly cause Ozzie and co. to rethink his draft strategy and skew the matrix/dynamic. If Ozzie thinks putting blind fate into an aged rehabbing receiver is (best cap wise) to augment the current receiving corp it would put a huge roadblock as far as future acquisitions. This scenario has played out on numerous occasions. Holding onto aging vets and often injured player(s) needs be abandoned. For the risk reward is less predictable. The onus for such a decision should not be left to SSS. I love the heart (lion) of SSS, but his body must able and willing to go along. This off season should not be filled with subplot's, but real time draft/free-agent acquisitions. If SSS does come back I'd be inclined to the think that Ozzie would follow his stale pattern of expecting too much from him and expect the same level, if not higher production, while ignoring the obvious or anticipated rust/rehab effect. Sure, SSS ,maybe effective. But to what extent.  It's only been less than a week and already the org and fans want that cinderella swan song to play out. Enough of that.  If we haven't taken a page from the Micheal Orr (blindside) project, then shame on us. The only happy ending for me is a Superbowl win. If i want a perfect ending, I"d try reading a playboy magazine(starring Me..lol). Not the crime scene noel that's about to play out. It's already been seen that he's not exactly lighting up the scoreboard with the numerous drops in the redone/endzone. I think i counted 5.  I will say that if he's willing to take a much lessened role and the Ravens manipulate the roster to include maybe 7 receivers to the active receivers on game days then I wouldn't be opposed. But to put blinded/biased fate into a player that may already have reservations about returning would be a supreme blunder.

Dear Smith Sr,

I just wanted to remind you. You did not go out on your own terms. I feel you should take this time to truly think about it. Be with your family and recover, enjoy the time off the best you can. Heal well and come back the strongest you've ever been to end at least next season on your own terms. There is plenty time left Smith. Think about it. We need you.

Dear Harbaugh,

I can't really say it is valid to say this now but if SSS comes back with Suggs. Please take care of them the best you can.

Ps. Ravens for life

Whatever you decide Smitty, Ravens Nation loves you and wants you to be as happy as you've made us. You may have been a Panther most of your career, but you were born a Raven for sure.
