I am excited to see what he can do.  We can rush him from a couple different spots along the defensive front.  Excited to finally see what Urban can do!

I don't think he's officially activated. I'm pretty sure there's a window, maybe two weeks, after he starts practicing that the team has to make a decision on whether or not to activate him. I doubt he's guaranteed to play this week unless they actually do make it official early.

Antwaan Barnes, another guy who looked good here that fizzled when gone.  I still couldn't believe they traded him for nothing when Suggs was the only real pass rusher on the team at the time.

 

On topic, at worst Urban adds to the rotation and keeps other players a little more rested  At best, he plays like a rookie Terrell Suggs and gives us another dynamic pass rusher who will help Doom out and thus help out the secondary

Being removed from the IR-DTR list and being cleared to practice is not the same as being activated to the 53-man roster. We now have a time frame in which to make a decision (and I just looked it up, it's three weeks, not two). He can be added to the 53 whenever during that timeframe, I believe.

I think the headlines/alerts might not be clear. According to the article on our front page:

"Second-year defensive end Brent Urban has been cleared to participate in a brief walk-through practice Monday.

Urban has not yet been removed from the injured reserved-designated to return list, but can now begin practicing. He now has a 21-day window to practice before he must be activated or placed on season-ending IR."

I think this next three weeks (or sooner if Urban gets activated ahead of time) is kind of like the last week of preseason, where those on the bottom of our roster are competing to not be the guy who gets cut for Urban. It seems clear Urban will get a spot on the team, if healthy.

Thought the same when I got the notification. Thought it was weird that they'd activate him before he even practiced, but it looks like it was the wrong choice or words.
