A day in the life of Joe Flacco has never been an easy one !

Joe is one of the coolest cucumbers out there.

This guy takes everything in stride and doesn't blink !

Also to John Urschel, Great job filling in ! I'm sure you knew the mathematical odds of all your snaps being perfect, were slim to nill.

Still you stepped it up and didn't get beat up the middle. This, I think was more important than all your snaps being perfect.

I think a week or so of practice will remedy this.

His horrible snaps distracted from the fact that he did a very good job blocking. You'd think that they would make sure the backup center would know how to snap the ball.

Urschel taking unexpected snaps is just another twist and turn to this crazy season. Thankfully, Joe Cool was mentally ready to scramble for a wayward snap though and Urschel can focus on snaps during the bye week if need be. This season has more unforeseen hurdles than I ever could have guessed. Admire the persistence of the players to keep fighting and for staying positive.

Who is the backup center normally? I know it isn't Urschel on the depth chart but if he is the spot replacement center shouldn't he be used to taking these snaps in mock practice? It is called being prepared for any situation.

I thought Jensen was the backup center but I don't think he was eligible. When Urschel is filling in, like he had to at practice for KO while he was injured, he wasn't getting the snaps on the practice team, Jensen was because Urschel was working in the starting guard position. Urschel as the article stated, didn't play center at Penn State though he did work at that position as well. I think he served a dual purpose allowing them to keep fewer linemen but center was never his position, it isn't with the Ravens, and he just filled in because he could. He will now get more snaps at center than at guard and he will be prepared for the next game in two weeks.

Did you not watch the game? Urschel played lights out blocking! If the cost of going from the starter to backup C is a few slow shotgun snaps but the protection is still there...I call that a win!

Side Note: I really hope that Oz will give Robert Meachem a call now!!

I don't call that a win at all, considering the slow shotgun snaps were so slow that they are costing a good half second on the timing of the routes and the play to begin with.

I don't care how well you block at that point. You're throwing off the entire play with those snaps.

Urschel has been a great find! He is solid at multiple positions and really could start if we needed him too. He is clearly not Yanda or even KO for that matter but then again who is? He is however an NFL G and has shown his versatility and intelligence. We are lucky to have him here!

I think I respect Flacco more and more this season. He hasn't been perfect but when you have one steady target who just got knocked out for the season. If he can keep on pace and slow the INTs he could stat wise still have the best season of his career with no true support compared to the "elite" QBs. More than his play he just has great character and this story proves that. Respect earned...

Think a defensive player in the QBs face throws off the entire play more. Or worse that defensive player putting the QB on his back.

Hm, if he works on those snaps, we might have a Matt Birk 2.0 on our hands in the middle of the o line. Good blocking plus brains equals better protection for Flacco, who seems to struggle with reading blitzes and could use the help.

Far from guaranteed to happen, obviously. How about an errant snap that causes a turnover... think maybe that's a problem?

Blocking is priority #2 for a center. Priority #1 is getting the ball to the QB accurately and on time.

Additionally, you also wouldn't want to be judging how well Urschel does by just how he blocks his man. Remember, that half second slower that his ball takes to get there is a half second more that the edge rushers (who aren't being blocked by Urschel) have to get to the QB.

He's indirectly causing that pressure without even blocking them.

Flacco and Aiken absolutely BAILED Trestman out on that last drive. They were already in field goal position, and yet despite every one of Urschel's shotgun snaps being lollipops, they decide to go into shotgun AGAIN, which leads to a botched snap, a sack, and a loss of 10 yards, being pushed out of FG range, and then Joe HAS to throw out of shotgun. Thankfully Joe threw a good ball, Aiken fought through contact, and drew the PI, or we were headed to OT instead of walking off with a win.

That one Writer said my man was snapping Lollipops to Flacco that was funny.. I salute him for knowing he was messing up, he's not afraid of the man in the mirror

I was worried that those floating snaps that Flacco had to reach for were going to throw off the timing of the passing game, but Flacco was still extremely sharp. He did an excellent job of neutralizing what could have been a disastrous situation.

In the long run, I'd rather have a good blocker with snapping issues than the other way around, for the simple reason that bad snaps should be easy to fix, but if a guy can't block, you're not going to fix that over the bye week. I could go out there and snap the ball accurately. I don't think the Ravens would rather have me starting at C than Urshel though.

He shouldn't feel so bad.  I was watching the Colts @ Panthers game and a red zone miscue with center snap to Luck was really bad.   BTW: The AFC championship  playoff team looks out of sync on Offense. They are 3-5   We have a goal marching to .500.   When its all over and If we fair better than the Colts, then the pain of this season can be less.

Zuttah has been so dependable; taken for granted and recognized for his value when he is not able to play. He just doesn't miss playing time. And he seems to me to be the kind of teammate that will be right alongside Urschel, as much as possible. Hope his injury isn't long term.

That is REAL.  Successful starting centers require repetition and audible awareness as well. The last minute of that game was static but luck prevailed.   When I was at the Browns game and we had to settle for a FG instead of the TD the crowd became numb.

I lay the blame not on Urschel, but on Harbaugh. Your "backup" center needs practice to get it right. A real coach would have had him prepared, yet, here he was, thrust into a close game,(Gee who could have thought it. Apparently not Harbaugh.) He was not prepared, obviously. I like Urschel. He will replace Osemele next year and will do just fine. Later he will move over and replace Zutta. He is a keeper.

Dude has a bye week to figure it out. Probably will write a mathematical formula that perfects the ball rotation, grip, and trajectory on a shot gun snap revolutionizing the center position.
