[News] Ravens React To Steve Smith Being Out For Season

38 posts in this topic

I tore my achilles this past July. I'm a lot older than Steve (google "61 custom rebuild"). Best to take as much time as the healing needs, but despite what they say, I believe you CAN come back stronger from that injury, so long as you don't let the surgeons mess it up. I went without surgery, no boot, just basically walking it off, long walk. A little better each day with still a long ways to go. He could be playing again at some point in 2017, but game one is probably not wise. During the down time he could work on staying loose and regaining the muscular balance that you lose doing conventional training, and come back feeling like he's 25 again. Age is just a number that means little.

It really sucks to lose Steve Smith in such a manner an to think he may retire in bad taste, but SSS knows what best for himself and if he goes then i thank him for what he brought to our Ravens, but now maybe we can really see what our other receivers can do and maybe a star will come to shine. I really hope to see a lot more out of Givens, Ross and Aiken.

I remember a billion years ago when Eddie Murray went down and out with an injury and the rest of the team picked up the slack. They won a lot of games with him out. Just saying.

Its very sad when you loose a guy like "Triple S." His competitive ways on the field, the emotion he plays with, the heart, the toughness, that comes with number 89 is a huge loss for our team. This hurts in more ways than just loosing a WR for a season. He was Joe's number one target, and now he's gone. We've been through a lot as a team this season, I don't know how you overcome so much adversity. What's even more sad is the fact that now we don't have a #1 receiver. Who do you put in Triple S place. We are really hurting now. I hope we can do something about finding someone to fill that spot.

I hope you get better Steve Smith Sr., you are one hell of a guy and player for this team. You will be missed bro.

Now I'm no doctor, but if I'm not mistaken didn't Monroe have a concussion. Since when does it takes a month to come back from a concussion. This guy is straight up trade bait. This is the thing that bothers me. You already see that we are decimated by injuries, and your starting LT will not even suit up. C'mon Man!!!

He recovered from the concussion and came back. This is another, different, injury.

You don't need to be a doctor to understand a couple things about concussions 1) not all concussions are created equal and recovery time can vary greatly and 2) in the NFL a player doesn't get to say - I'm a tough guy ... I can play ... there is a protocol that must be passed. If you don't pass it, you don't play, no matter how "tough" you are.

Sidney Crosby was out 11 months with a concussion. Justin Morneau was placed on the 60-day DL for a concussion. I'm sure there are countless other examples of lengthy absences due to concussion.

No doubt, it is frustrating that Monroe has been missing so much time, but you gotta leave the concussion injury out when you talk about his lack of commitment.
