We get on Ozzie's case for not finding a leader like Ray to take over his leadership duties. 31 other franchises weren't able to find a leader like Ray for the 17 years he played. There is no replacing Ray Lewis. He's a once-in-a-lifetime athlete and if you were able to watch him play live you should consider yourself lucky.

The True Ravens mystique that you can't teach Coach Harbaugh and you lost it when you attempted to rid the locker room of Strong personalities. The General McArthur speeches can't take place of the Raven General Ray Lewis because those words aren't Harbraugh's. They have to come from the Soul. It's ok to change the Culture but don't lose the Raven Spirit. Namaste.

Lewis spoke to the team in the locker room before the game, delivering a speech about what it means to be a Raven. And the message resonated in a big way.

"I think I had goosebumps until the second quarter," tight end Crockett Gillmore said. Several players talked after the 29-26 victory over the San Diego Chargers about the impact of Lewis' visit.  Most of the players on the roster wasn't in Baltimore when Lewis' emotional retirement tour culminated in a Super Bowl XLVII victory, and there was clearly a sense of awe and appreciation for the franchise's greatest player.

"I grew up watching Ray Lewis as a kid, and you just watched his speeches on TV and you were jacked," nose tackle Brandon Williams said. "So him right there in person, everyone was just popping out of their skin to just go out on the field and make one of the living legends proud." "I think that it gave us that little rally that we needed as a team," wide receiver Kamar Aiken said. "We rallied off of it to be honest."

^ Well, well, wel!  Imagine that!

So, am I reading that correctly- the Ravens can't win without Ray Lewis pumping them up? What happens in a few weeks when this day is long forgotten? Will we still be the team that can't close out a game?

Naw man!  You read that Ray Lewis inspired them.  I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.

The influence Ray Lewis wielded on and off the field as a Raven is remarkable! When he spoke with a passion only he could, time literally stood still.

Greatest leader in the history of sports as far as I'm concerned, I'm ready to go run through a brick wall. Ray isn't just once in a generation, he's once in a lifetime. There will never be another Ray Lewis.

I haven't heard that sort of passion and conviction in our locker room since he left, right now we are a team without a vocal leader. Flacco is never going to be that "rah rah" guy, he leads by example. But I think the team, especially the defense needs that type of presence that Ray brought. Nobody can replace Ray, but somebody can step up and inspire this team to be great. I really hope it's CJ, I know he's still young but I want to see him evolve into that vocal leader for the team.

I just watched Ray Lewis pump up the squad and I couldn't sit down fist balled up and almost lost it! But like I've been sayin Joe Flacco gotta stand up and lead this team! It belongs to him and him alone! Let's honor Ed Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeed next week and Jamal Lewis the week after and Peter B. And so on! Need some of them 96-2000 Ravens also whom laid the blueprint of what it is to be a Raven! The players that helped groom Ray Ray! Rob Burnett Anthony Pleasant James Trapp, Cornell Brown to name a few! LETS GO!

Leadership in the NFL is extremely undervalued, because if it wasn't, then Ray Lewis would be paid more than Joe Flacco every single year he suited up!

If this team listens to what Ray Lewis said, they need not worry about losing Steve Smith. Ray Lewis, greatest player to ever play the game in my book.

Well said. Although you know the QB is automatically going to make the most money out of all the players.

The Best WR to ever wear the Purple and Black: No. 89. And he only played 24 games for us. No one brought more guts and played with more passion that Smith. Such a pleasure to watch. We need to draft more guys that love the game like SR. Thats what Ray and Reed were all about. Thats how we win SB's.

Crazy how Ray said in 2005 he had an injury, therefore the Ravens leader being taken away, but that this team has a leader in Joe Flacco, and to rally around him. Then what do you know, Steve Smith is out for the rest of the season. I really think that Ray has a very special relationship with God.

Can't imagine how this team would have taken this SSS injury if Ray had of never came today and been with them, and more importantly, gave that speech.

Couldn't have came at a better time. This team needed to see, feel, and hear what a real leader is.

Ray Lewis talks so powerful when giving speeches, a person that doesn't like what he says is a person that envy him, that's the only way a "Ray" speech can't be heart felt. He crushes you into a humble reality with the same force he busted up Mendenhall with.

Ray Lewis is a once in a Generation type Man. Rally behind his Message. Keep it with you, and come back to it when times get tough. Motivation and Leadership can be present, even when the Leader or Motivator is Not. Harbs should make "Family" be the motto for the remainder of the season.

You don't need to be a Ray Lewis to be a leader. Flacco has his own style and if he tried to be anyone else it would be phony. Go Ravens.

But that's the thing....NO ONE is saying that Joe Flacco has to be Ray Lewis bro!   Of course he can't be Ray or inspire like Ray!  But where is the fire and the passion?  Not necessarily from Flacco but the ENTIRE TEAM?  Some one has to step up and say..."FOLLOW ME!"  Ray Lewis did that when he played!

Man, that speech had me and my wife ready to jump up off this couch, lace'em up and run through my living room wall!

Just imagine if you was on his team every game. I watched this at least 10 times. I might need a CD with Ray Lewis speeches.
