Loved Ray's message to the team today!

I just love Ray. It's a universal message too. Bad things in your life do not define you. How you handle them does. Let's use a true example here.

A few weeks a go, a friend near and dear to me passed. I was down for about two weeks. I didn't let that define me. I just had to pick myself up and get on with my life. As much as it hurt, she wouldn't have wanted me to stop. I miss her. But that and other things don't define me.

Adversity does not create character. It shows it. Today, no matter the "they had backups" thing. We showed that we have heart. We need to keep fighting. Even without a top ten pick, there are good players in the upper half of the draft.

great speech. love me some ray lewis.

and i dont care what our teams record is, or how much "fla(cc)k" he gets from the media.

joe flacco is my quarterback. dude was stellar today, especially making something out of nothing with those awful snaps. flacc is the man. love watching him play. so calm in any situation.

People say that these speeches mean nothing but the team played better today than they have most games this year. The defense looked more aggressive to me and that was before I knew he gave a speech. I know people gave Ray flack for his comments on the leadership of this team, but I think he was right.

As much as i love this speech, and as much as i love ray. It really highlights our team right now, we won we are on life support, i even question that. But the fact that he has gotta tell the team to back flacco, when he even isnt on the team anymore, this speech may very well be a double edged sword. Basically how i feel the players took it was one of two things, they think that ray is right we arent done, lets rally around our captains and go on a run. OR they feel like the principle just showed them up in the auditorium for making fun of the chubby fat kid who crapped his pants. You get the message in the second part..., as much as we love ray and respect what he has done for this organization. You cant help but wonder if the players appreciated the speech as much as we did. Context people, i hate acting like a downer, but this speech could do more harm than good in the long run.

Ray Lewis and Harbaugh has energy some of the players needs to match.    I wish some of our players had the kind of passion and energy Ray has.

You can say 'oh he isnt like ray he is this and that'  Well Im looking at the team now, and for the most part, it looks empty.   I see no future for them in 5 years.

If you want to be great then its time.  This is the time to show up,  bc next year, many of these players are going to be gone.   Show the fans your worth.   Give us hope to be excited about anything.    Time is NOW

I remember posting before Week 3 when we were 0-2 how it might be a good idea to have Ray visit the team.  I knew if we had continued to lose another game our season would most probably be over.  I also knew if we had him on the sidelines or at the least in the locker room, there was a good chance things may change.  Other posters didn't think it was a good idea saying the Ravens needed to figure things out for themselves.  I don't think some fans understand the value this man possesses.  Check out--'Ray on the Sidelines'--Oct. 21

Ray is on another level when it comes to the intensity and passion he brings to the game of football.

Well, to me, Ray Lewis will always be apart of this organization and team although he is not physically on the field anymore.  His statue is out front of M&T so that presupposes that he has been given access and granted liberties with the team by Bisciotti that most people don't have.  Then, I guess it all depends upon how you see it.  It didn't look like Joe or any other players had an issue with Ray saying to back Flacco..since he is their leader!  To me, it was simply Ray being Ray saying..."Follow me!"  In this case..."Follow Flacco!"  I just don't get why so many people hate other people coming in to talk to the team to inspire them to play better.  I don't get that line of thinking at all!

Yeah looks like some people were stuck in Egypt on that one.

lol did you see Maxx Williams bruh? He was about to explode lol. I kinda wish we got a panaramic view of the locker room.

It would be neat to see if this game/speech is another one of those "switch" games for Flacco. The loss to Denver during his Superbowl season comes to mind, when he was face down in the dirt. That was the last time we saw Flacco down, he was a man on a mission from that point on.

yeah flacco usually plays best when his back is against the wall, and thats really the most a fan can ask from their players. everyone expects him to lead vocally but hes a leader in his own terms. he shows up when we need him to perform no matter whats going on around him. always cool and confident, thats how he leads. he doesnt buckle under pressure and his teammates notice this and rally around him by simply doing the same, staying calm and doing their jobs. this, i believe, is a MAJOR factor why we are within 3-6 points every single game this season. win or lose, we dont give up. this has a lot to do with flacco and harbaugh at the helm. sure, we can say ray lewis had a slight hand in the win, but he was not on the field for one play today.

if any fan or analyst still comes out to this day and claims flacco is not a leader, they are simply foolish imo.

was proud of our guys on offense after the great SSS was sadly escorted of the field. cant wait to see perriman in action. and i hope SSS comes back for one more season.

Baltimore Ravens are forever Lewis' team; they are his brotherhood and his family. If Michael Jordan is mortal God in Chicago, Ray Lewis is mortal God in B-more.....

you are looking too much into it man. our team is filled with young, inexperienced players, and people we picked up off the street. Ray was basically saying to those guys "this is your situation and its [profanity deleted]ty, but understanding the situation you are in, and putting in the time by following, studying, and rallying around the experienced guys like flacco will only make you better and succeed in the long run". i have absolutely no idea how that can do any harm at all. if a player wasnt into it or paying attention, it still wont do "harm". again, no idea where you came up with that idea.

mostly all those players mustve been listening and you can notice this simply by observing rays body language and tone increasing throughout the speech.  it was a great motivational speech, but thats pretty much it. he wasnt throwing anybody under the bus at all or vice versa. and to think it was just a gimmick speech before a game (in regards to your second example) is flat out silly.

'Ray on the Sidelines'--September 21

Ray's pre-game talk to the team seems to have resonated in the players, especially the younger ones. Max Williams looked ready to jump out of his skin and if Crockett Gillmore said he had goose bumps til the 2nd quarter, I am confident that many of these players will be remembering Ray's inspiring message for a long, long time going forward.

Absoulutely!  The man (Ray Lewis) has a statue of himself doing his iconic "squarrel dance".  C'mon now!  For anyone to think that he wouldn't have access to this team's FO, Coaching staff and players from time to time is idiotic imo.  Ray Lewis is FOREVER connected to the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Ravens are FOREVER connected to Ray Lewis.  I love it!

The few players that spoke about Ray's visit LOVED IT!  Haters going to always hate...that's what they do!

Better (not vertical cell phone) video of the same speech. Powerful. The players said it affected them. There's something to it. There will never be another Ray Lewis, that's for sure. Something about him...

Of course there is!  And, you are so right B!  There will NEVER EVER be another Ray Lewis.....glad he was a Baltimore Raven his entire career and went out with 2 Championship with and for the city!  Whether you love him or hate him or are extremely tired of seeing or hearing him....HE'S OURS!!
