Where do we pick?

941 posts in this topic

I looked at the schedule and a lot can still change with draft position. The Redskins are looking like they'll rest their players against Dallas, which could mean a win for Dallas and put us up the Draft order. Niners are playing a relatively hot Rams team, so that could go either way. The Dolphins play the Patriots in Miami, so we'll see how that goes with a team playing for nothing really. Jacksonville plays a hot Texans team, however, in Houston so that could very well be a loss. We'll have to see. The Titans play the Colts, however, in a game that could very well go their favor. They're both pretty bad this year.

Browns just played a close game against KC so they could also beat the Steelers.

There's still much in flux. I don't think we can get back up to #3 but I think #5 is possible and maybe we can stretch to #4. It all depends on us losing to the Bengals, which could go either way.

New England will be playing for the number 1 seed if cinci wins tonight. So go Denver... I guess.

Go Denver indeed. That's the ideal scenario for us imo since it should keep the Bengals playing for something.

yeah that too.

Edit* Actually I meant to say go cinci. That way New England and cinci will both have something to play for next week right? Or am I wrong?

I dont like Treadwell too much...

rather get Ramsey/VH3.  One of them definately has to fall to us even if we are @ 7-9 pick

Don't hold your breath, best 2 skill position players in the entire draft. Possible but not likely as of right now

As I see it, the Broncos winning worked out to be for the best for us. The Broncos winning means they share an 11-4 record with the Bengals, so either side could wrap up a first-round bye.

1) From a purely logical standpoint, we want to lose to the Bengals this week. I do understand the arguments for wanting to win and won't belittle them or anything, but they're usually along the lines of playing for pride. A Bengals side that still needs to win to have a shot at a first-round bye won't rest their starters, so they're more likely to beat us (and again, it depends on where you stand but from a numbers standpoint losing secures our spot in the top 10 where if we win we could fall as low as 13).

2) It's all a moot point since they packed it in for the season after beating us, but we want the Dolphins to win this week (it moves them out of the 5-10 logjam and gets them behind us in the draft order, and the Patriots losing is always a win for freedom and justice). Their best shot of winning is if the Cheetahs rest their starters, which they might actually consider now that they've got home advantage wrapped up. But that's kind of a moot point since I don't think Belicheat will rest his starters (maybe at half-time if they have a big lead?) and even if he did I don't see the Dolphins winning.

3) The Broncos losing would have opened another avenue for the Steelers to get a back door play-off ticket. It would rely on KC and Pitt winning, and the Broncos and Jets losing (so the Chiefs would sneak the division title and the Steelers would jump the Broncos for a wild card spot).

Does that make sense? There's a lot to take in there, but ultimately I think the Broncos winning does a lot for us.

Ok... so where do we stand draft pick wise? What is the range of the highest we can pick if we lose and the lowest we can drop to if we win tomorrow? We head into Sunday with the eighth pick, so I imagine somewhere between 6-12, maybe 13.

I think the best pick we can get is 4, but don't quote me on that lol.

Thought I saw somewhere on Twitter that it was guaranteed 6-10, but I could be misremembering that.

If we lose, we'll be picking between 3rd and 8th. If we win, we'll be picking between 8th and 11th. But picking 3rd means the Chargers, Cowboys, Sailboats, Dolphins and Jags will all have won. I could see one of those sides winning, two if we have a good day, but all five might be pushing it when at least two of those sides clearly packed it in a long time ago.

It's a matter of time before a site like ESPN adds a draft order machine like the playoff machines we see now.

So we just have to hope Broncos, Redskins, Rams, Patriots, and Colts lose. Honestly, some of those are very likely to happen.

I'm always rooting for the Patriots to lose. Sadly the Dolphins and 49ers seem to have given up weeks ago, so I'm not expecting any favours from them. The Jags beating the Texans and the Cowboys beating Washington are both up in the air and very possible. We'd need a bit of luck for the Chargers to win, but that's not out of the question (I'm still upset at how they lost to the Raiders).

What surprises me is how low our SOS is. I guess the Steelers, Browns and Bengals losing last week gave our schedule another five losses just like that.

My gut tells me we'll beat the Bungles and end up just out of the top 10. Such is the destiny of the Baltimore Ravens. But even an 11-12th pick in the first round should net us a starting caliber talent.

Yep, we were going to be at 8 after that game no matter what happened (unless they can draw, in which case I suspect we'd be at 7).

And we all buy Jags jerseys for when they face the Texans next week.

I'm late, but my brother got me a MD Jags jersey as a joke once for like $10....

I read somewhere that even with a win, the Ravens have a 99% chance to have a top 10 pick

Probably because of SOS. It's also very unlikely all the teams ahead and behind us lose and only we win.

Let's all hope for a Titans, Browns, Chargers, Cowboys, Niners, Dolphins, and Jaguars win today! Lol

Once again, the provisional draft order after the 1:00 games.

1. Tennessee Titans: 3-13 (.492 strength of schedule)
2. Cleveland Browns: 3-13 (.533 SOS)
3. San Diego Chargers: 4-11 (.525 SOS) **
4. Dallas Cowboys: 4-12 (.529 SOS)
5. San Francisco 49ers: 4-11 (.550 SOS) **
6. Jacksonville Jaguars: 5-11 (.471 SOS)
7. Baltimore Ravens: 5-11 (.504 SOS)
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 6-9 (.483 SOS) **
9. Miami Dolphins: 6-10 (.475 SOS)

10. New York Giants: 6-10 (.492 SOS)

11. Chicago Bears: 6-10 (.546 SOS)
12. New Orleans Saints: 7-9 (.508 SOS)
13. Philadelphia Eagles: 7-9 (.513 SOS)
14. Detroit Lions: 7-9 (.538 SOS)
15. Indianapolis Colts: 8-8 (.500 SOS)

The Dolphins win (which I'll straight up say I'm thrilled to be 100% wrong on) jumps us to 7. The 9ers have the Rams while the Chargers take on a Broncos side playing for HFA. A win from either would see us jump another spot in the order, and the bright side is that if the Chargers lose it means the Cheetahs lose the inside track in the AFC race so that game's win-win as far as I'm concerned.

With the Dolphins win and Ravens loss, this puts us at #7.  With the 4:25 pm games yet to play, we are locked in between #5-7.  We should be rooting for the 49ers and Chargers to pull off victories.

The #5 pick would be a nice consolidation for this tough season.

A couple slots higher in each of the rounds will be extremely valuable.

The 49ers could absolutely pull off the win over the Rams, so I'll remain kind of hopeful for that one.  I don't expect the Chargers to beat the Broncos, but I also didn't expect the Dolphins to beat the Patriots.  I'd be happy if we can climb one more spot.

I hate the Cowboys for not winning today. Come on man. All you had to do was win. I hope we trade ahead of Jerry or even he takes a QB.

Go SD and Niners! Get us a better draft pick please.

Not many players at our pick at all. Trade back and take Treadwell.

With the Miami win it looks like we're picking 7th as of right now, I believe Jacksonville still ahead of us on SOS.

Time to root for SD and SF, we would likely pick ahead of both of them if they managed to win.

Yeah, [screw] the Cowboys.

Still doesn't change it. At #7 I don't see nany elite players.

Because we already know who is going to be picked 1-6...

The Rams always bring the heat against their divisional rivals and the Chargers are useless (not to mention that early score from the Broncos). But just like you, I didn't see the Dolphins winning (and Peyton's starting for the Broncos) so you never know what will happen until it happens.

But even if the worst pans out, #7 isn't a bad place to be picking at all.
