Where do we pick?

Lions take care of business, another 4 win team out of the deadlock. Hopefully we can get some more help these next 2 weeks.

I'm not sure where the numbers came from saying we're #4. Either way, this NFL source has us as #3. Regardless, I think we'll have a shot at a good talent here, whether it's Stanley, Tunsil, Bosa, or Ramsey or Hargreaves. We're going to come away with a very talented player. The Titans may even win a game or two. Apparently, it looks like Luck will be out and that means the Titans will play the Colts without him. I hear Hasselbeck isn't too hot, either.

This coupled with a bad OL and a bad run game could well spell a loss for Indy, and a win for the Titans.

Edit: Strange SB Nation has the wrong SOS for teams for some odd reason. I checked ESPN.com and they have it the same as the NFL.com article. SB Nation says Ravens and Chargers have a .518 SOS but according to ESPN/NFL we have a .490 SOS and Chargers have a .510 SOS.

Well that was before tonight's game. After tonight's game the Lions win increased the Chargers SOS enough for us to remain tied with them at a .518 SOS. Chargers sit third still because according to SB Nation, not only do we share the same SOS, we have the same conference record and it came down to a division tiebreaker where the Chargers are 0-4 and we are 2-2, thus them remaining third and us fourth.

Honestly, I'm starting to think people don't really know how to calculate SOS and I think we should all just wait until the season is over and more legitimate numbers emerge. The data you posted earlier was the same as the data the NFL analyst used, which had us at #3 while yours had us at #4. You have to admit the disparity is a concern for validity.

I edited after you posted I believe but yeah I don't know what SB Nation is using but it's wrong. Plus all you have to do is go to ESPN, go to standings, then playoff standings and it shows the teams SOS when looking at the playoff standings. The ESPN SOS were the same as the NFL.com article you linked.

Also SOS is actually really easy to calculate if you know how to do it. I mean all your doing is going through the schedule and counting up the opponents wins and losses(with divisional opponents counting twice). I then use this site below to calculate the SOS percentage for me.

The Lions win over the Saints gave us some breathing room. I' hoping San Diego pulls off the upset against Oakland next week, I'm thinking Philip Rivers lets it all out after that final send off at Qualcom Stadium, I think they win one or if we're lucky, two games.

I think the difference in calculations when it comes down to SOS is based on whether you use the SOS of the 14 games so far, or if you include the SOS of the 2 teams we are yet to play

I'm not paying any attention to how we rank against the other 4 win teams based on SOS right now as it can and will change.

IMO best way to took at it is..... assuming we don't win another game, absolute lowest we will be picking is 6.

That article they post every year with the potential first round prospects for teams is so pointless. 99% of the prospects listed won't even sniff the 1st round.

Of the players they listed for the Ravens, I wouldn't take a single one with our top pick and there wasn't much consideration lol

Haha exactly. Of the ones listed for the no. 1 overall pick I've only seen 1st round grades for like 3 of the 14 or however many. I get it's just seniors listed but 90% of the article is completely pointless.

Although we are 3 right now, I don't see us falling out of the top 6-7 picks even if we shock the world beating either Pitt or Cincy!

Yeah that's true. The outcome of this game will play a huge part in where we sit in the draft.

Way to hold em off chargers! Let's go rivers I know you got some of that ol' country boy magic!

Man this is weird... I feel like the ravens and chargers have been a bit of a rivalry since 06 and here I am cheering for them... Smh.

Welp... To answer the title... 4th overall, thanks raiders

And watching them play there's no way they pass up OL help at 3. What a depressing day.

Go all the people celebrating the ravens win over the chargerschargers like it was something special to get excited over. Remember that if they pick a future hof player directly before us!! Just like the ravens pulled out a meaningless win In 1997 and missed Charles Woodson as a result. And ended up with Duane Starks. What a win that was!!

I believe even if we lose on Sunday and remain in the 4 win log lam, we still have a weaker SOS so we would still pick ahead of them barring us winning one or both of the last two games.

That is why you root for losing when you know hour team isn't making the playoffs. That win over the chargers looks real awesome now doesn't it!! I shook my head at all the delusionals celebrating that win and talking playoffs.

I always root for the team to win.  Studs come from everywhere in the draft.  If you want to pick in the top 5 every year, root for the Cleveland Browns.

Aside from Tunsil and maybe Bosa, there aren't a lot of top end guys in this draft I really want. I'd be okay if the Ravens end up picking 8-10 this year. There's some good value there.

I think the Chargers losing today put Tunsil 100% out of our reach. They could yet beat the Broncos and you never know until the game's over, but the Broncos losing isn't something I'm too keen to count on. Bosa still depends on the Browns passing him by imo, and you never know what they'll do.

If the Sailboats lose to the Lions (and they seem to have more or less packed it in tbh), I could see us picking 5th if we lose out. Stanley at 5 would please me, and if VH3 lives up to the hype it wouldn't be the worst spot to take him either.

were not passing the chargers though which is what we were hoping for. Also playing a division winner followed by another probable playoff team will certainly Jack up our sos

Look at Cleveland, the Browns finish the year playing 3 playoff teams, Seattle, KC on Sunday and Pittsburgh in week 17. The Browns chances of getting the number one pick is virtually gone as the Titans will have a weaker SOS by virtue of that. Leaving Cleveland at the mercy of a team like the 49ers trading up to number one to jump them for the top QB.

there is no reason to believe the browns are even considering a qb. The FO wants manziel, they think pettine is the problem and he will be getting canned and all signs point to them heading into 2016 with Johnny and mccown as their guys.
