Where do we pick?

Mosley needs to do some DB coverage training in the offseason, kind of like how Gilmore was doing OL drills in his free time over the spring/summer.

If we could get our guy in the top 8 and then trade back into the back end of the first for Myles jack or jaylon I'd be pretty damn excited. I don't favor one over the other either- I'd probably be equally happy with either of the 2.

Myles jack was originally my favorite but I've really started to like jaylon as of late too. Got a feeling that Daryl smith might hang up the cleats after this season - so why not plug in another smith right behind him. One of the guys paired with Mosley will be pretty beast. Esp if we somehow managed to nab bosa.

So do we want the browns or niners to win on Sunday? I think it's pretty safe to say that the Browns are destined for the basement and will hold a top 3 pick regardless. I guess it makes more sense to hope for a niners win to help clear out the log jam of 4 win teams. There's no way the Browns are winning 3 games.

I would say sf. Browns will likely pick #1 overall anyways. I do believe Rivers and Mariota are good for a win or 2. The ravens could hope to pick #3 overall!! Let's hope Tunsil falls to us!! My opinion he is worth trading up for. My opinion he is the future best left tackle in the NFL. He is a cross between Duane Brown and Jason Peters and plays with a nasty mean streak!! Tunsil round 1 and Boyd/Thomas/Doctson round2 completes a formidable Oline and offense that can control the ball as well as line of scrimmage, hit the big play and strike fear in opponents in many ways.

no way that Jaylon smith lasts till the end of the first, doubt jack does either.

And?

And Mosley looks more and more like a bad pick. Don't make the same mistake twice with a high first round pick. In a trade back scenario, it becomes a little more interesting because Jack and Smith are both very good talents, better than Mosley was coming out.

Still, there are other positions that need to be addressed, like WR,CB, OLB, OT and this positions are historically harder to fill with later draft picks. The Ravens have a unique chance to grab an elite talent at a position that elite talent rarely falls outside of the top 10.

Only guy I really wanted over CJ was Cooks at the time. At the time I was upset because I thought Arthur was going to be a good player, but I thought CJ was a safe pick with a high ceiling. And if you play the hindsight game the only person that went in the first round after CJ that was better was Verett. Clinton-Dix isn't that great(he's not horrible either), Pryor is very eh. Dee Ford has literally done nothing. Bucannon was a good pick now, but he wouldn't have really fit us.Benjamin is a good WR and al, but honestly CJ is a better player.

Yeah no. CJ has his flaws but I don't think it was too early. Because while he has his flaws, he does do some things REALLY well. Better than your typical thumper. I mean, haven't they given him the green dot, which has the mic now? He has a high football IQ, and recently has been on fire. Sure he's been bad in coverage so far, but he actually can improve there. He has the athletic ability and the IQ. And he looks to be the leader of the defense. Worth the 17th pick to me. If he had gone in the top ten, then yeah, I'd agree with you. But he went around the place I thought he would. If you tell me you have the opportunity to get a potential leader of the defense(and it appears he's taken charge), who has a high football IQ, plays the run really well, can potentially become a good coverage LB, and in addition to this is a good blitzer. That to me is warranted in the late teens. I'd call that a good pick which it was.

Now if we took Jack or Jaylon at like 8, that'd be a massive reach. But at 19 or 20? I'd be okay with that

Don't lie, you wanted Marqise Lee

Trading back in to the late teens and taking an ILB isn't the worst idea, using a top 5 pick (I believe we are currently #4) would be terrible. I still think there will be good players to take where we are drafting and even if we trade back there might be better options as well, especially at WR.

I wanted us to trade back and get Lee if Zack Martin wasn't there. I was wrong. I loved Brandin cooks but I didn't think we wanted another smaller WR to pair with SSR. Sadly we didn't get Cooks but we didn't exactly get screwed.

I would love love LOVE Myles Jack on the team if we traded back to the teens. But honestly, I'll take VH3, Ramsey, Bosa, Tunsil, Stanley, and others.

I think we get blown out this week. So maybe we drop a little more.

What a weird year

Pretty much how I see it as well. I actually think we will be competetive this week, but still lose in the end. Seattle's offense is predicated on being able to run the ball, and stopping the run is what we do best. Also WC team playing early on east coast rarely goes well for the WC team. We won't score much, but I don't think they do either.

Still waiting gabe

Who are the big 5...Bosa, Tunsil, Ramsey...? At least 1 QB will go top 5, so take Stanley or Treadwell. I think Hargreaves has a good  chance to be on the board when we pick too.

Bosa Hargreeves, Ramsey, the two tackles (in no particular order obv)

I don't think a QB is going in the top 5. I think the Browns forcing Pettine to give in is basically their way of saying we don't love the QBs in this draft and want to see the guy we do like.

So Treadwell?

I definitely could see Jaylon Smith being the top prospect on the board for the Ravens when they pick. Very talented LB.

Obviously questionable on the overall fit in the 3-4, but I have Smith as one of the best overall players in this draft.  I love him a ton as a player.  I just don't know if I like him here as an ILB.

How often is the defense in a straight 3-4 though with all the sub packages?

The nickel is definitely heavy, and I think he might be a fit in our new 3 ILB package in nickel situations, but I still have questions.  I don't mind a guy that isn't a perfect fit for every down, but if I'm taking a guy around the top 5, that's when I start to question it.

that would be a dream scenario. I don't see us retaining KO but if we did and somehow nabbed tunsil our running game with buck forsett and west would hit another level. In result the play action would start doing wonders for joe and prrriman , Boyd and Aiken will be able to do some damage. Would still be worried about the defense in that case though but atleast Jimmy should be healthier and in better form.

or they want to give him one more shot so they will know whether or not they should move on and draft one. Edited by January J

Yes. I really like both, but Jack probably needs more time to adjust. His time at UCLA was spent in a nontraditional LB role.

I just don't want Jaylon Smith unless we're committed to getting a new dc who calls a 4-3 with lots of mlb roaming and Tampa 2, he just strikes me as very scheme specific. I'm just not sold on the idea unless we can assure ourselves that he is the guy we build around

Well here's a question that might be worth looking into. Can Jaylon Smith be moved to an OLB in our system? He was after all recruited to Notre Dame to play OLB in their system. He lined up close to the line of scrimmage on many occasions and every now and then was split out to cover someone. He was a Freshman at the time, but is it not beyond the realm of possibility that he could be an outside guy for us that mainly rushes the passer and plays against the run? Heck I know that sometimes I've seen Suggs drop into coverage, once in a blue moon of course, but still just a thought. Also I'm new here and am a huge Ravens, college football, and draft nut.

What are our chances of getting Boyd in the second round?

There'll be a first-round talent (or at least a guy who's been given a first-round grade in this class) available with our second pick. Boyd's the current popular pick to drop because of his previous DUI and his lack of elite speed, but if he isn't there someone else will be. Doctson, Coleman, Dural, any number of defensive players. SOMEONE will be given a first-round grade before the draft and then fall to the second, and while specific players are hard to really call this early, there's every chance it could be Boyd.

The ravens should trade their round2 and round3 pick for the proven Stud Michael Crabtree. He is not getting payed to much to afford and he is a proven elite playmaker with gamebreaking speed as opposed to guys from college like Boyd Treadwell Doctson Thomas and Dural.

He did, Raiders would be on the hook for a ton of dead money if they traded him now.
