Where do we pick?

looking past red flags with our first high pick I. a long time could make a bust that much worse. I like Ramseys swagger a well but I think there are bigger red flags than that, like a lack of range on the back end

you really think so? I think he has the range to play fs hes very long and is a track star. Is it his decision making cause i feel like he should be fine to play the position maybe not immediately but he shows natural ball skills. His freshman tape showed him timing hits perfectly as a safety and knowing to avoid hitting the head. Check it out. He was on a national championship defense as a freshman and they put him in a hybrid safety/nickleback roll (which our nickles constantly get burned) a position which requires a rangy athletic player. They basically just let him roam the whole feild and let him fly around and make plays. I could see him as a perfect fit for that roll https://youtu.be/iqrc1revsNM

all the plays he makes is close to the line. You just don't see him making plays deep, it just makes you wonder how effective he would be in a single high type of role, which is what we need, is Ramsey another will hill? Because his film suggests that he is, he may appear better but similar nonetheless, I question what role he fits in. If itcomes down to him or vh3, I'm taking vh3, if itcomes down to him and ogbah, I'm taking ogbah, there is no mysteries or question marks there because we know what they're gonna bring to the table and they can just play, rather than carve out a niche

Anyone know what this loss and losing all the other upcoming games does to our draft location?

Our SOS has been absolute pants so far (which is a good thing in terms of draft order), so atm we're in a pretty good spot compared to other 4-8 teams - but I'm not sure how long that'll last with sides like KC, Seattle and Pittsburgh coming up. I'm still waiting for the weekly SB Nation article about the draft order, which will be more definitive once the round's actually been completed, but losing today has us in pretty good stead draft-wise.

Idk, their front office wants to see Manziel play some more. They might move the GM away from drafting a QB this year, they'll likely be drafting Bosa, he's the only play that makes sense for them.

actually i disagree. the browns have had more number 1 picks in the top 5 than any other team over the past 7 years. they have so often chosen the glamours prospect.

they need to find a QB as manziel is not the answer.

here is the good news. i am pretty certain we can get a player this board wants.

bad news...

we still need a lot more help in getting more cap space to truly be competetive enough to get to the SB

If we had 20/20 hindsight to see that this was a lost season before it began, it would have been awesome if we cut Webb and Pitta, eating all of the dead money at once (in addition to Ngata and Rice's dead money). But that's hindsight for ya :D

If the Cowboys beat Washington tomorrow/today/whenever you're reading this, we'd slide up to 5. Otherwise though, that's not the best order from our perspective imo. Our top-tier players would likely be plucked pretty thoroughly by the time our pick rolls around and we'd be in a pretty poor spot for trading back. Also of note is that our SOS is creeping up so there's still a bit of room for sliding. Mind you, VH3 would likely be available at that range so we couldn't complain too much about coming away with him.

But had we won today we'd be 13th in the draft order. Yikes.

Not going to happen, Redskins are playing at home and they are undefeated at home this season. So I think we are safe at 6 this week.

I can't complain too much @ 6... assuming we stay there.

Pretty sure we're losing these next 4 (SEA, KC, PIT, @CIN). Hopefully those other 4-win teams can salvage their pride or whatever :P

I think if we lose out we have a pretty good chance of picking in the top five. I think every four-win side has at least one more win in them (we'll see if that includes us. Stranger things have happened than us upsetting KC or Pitt at home), and that doesn't factor in the three-win sides at least being competitive in their games.

Looking at the final 4 games (SEA, KC, Pitt, @CIN) there's a good chance we go 0-4. Which means we probably won't fall further than #6 overall. I could see us getting into the top 5 by the end of the season, I think a few teams ahead us will win at least  1 or 2 times with us realistically losing out.

Hopefully we'll get a shot at Bosa/Ramsey/Hargreaves

Bosa

VH3

Stanley

Tunsil

Ramsey

We're getting one of them. I think Cleveland goes Lynch, and his career then becomes ruined because.. They're the browns

Titans will take Tunsil. Mariota is going to get killed otherwise

Chargers would probably take A'Shawn Robinson maybe(hopefully. We all know if he falls to us Ozzie will take him, and even if he was a beast, I'd start calling for his head) or Ramsey. They can't stop paper and they need a DT.

Cowboys I have taking VH3. Another Corner would do wonders for that defense.

Jags take Bosa. Bosa and Fowler could turn into an elite rushing tandem.

That leaves us with Stanley, Ramsey, Ogbah, Treadwell among others. People I'd be okay with. As long as we stay in the top ten

Cowboys are all over VH3/Ramsey, definitely will take one of them. It's too bad Romo went down, he would've easily got them a few more wins. The good news is we would hold the tie breaker against Dallas based on strength of schedule (as of right now) so as long as they win 1 more game and we lose out we'll get to pick before Dallas takes a DB.

How do jags pick ahead of us?? Jags beat ravens.

They have a weaker strength of schedule, so their opponents (including two games against the 3-9 Titans) collectively have fewer wins than our opponents. Sadly our SOS is going to keep rising over the next four weeks.

True, but I think the fact that we will in all likelihood go 0-4 down this final stretch will put us in prime draft position even if our SOS increases in the process. A few teams ahead of us will win some games, the only teams that I see losing out that's ahead of us are Cleveland and Tennessee. I think San Diego, Dallas, and even Jacksonville are good for 1 more win this year. Top 5 will have some messy SOS tiebreakers but I actually like our odds as of right now.

I don't follow the Titans, but I thought Lewan looked good at LT last year. Did he regress?

I think there's a chance Stanley or Tunsil will be around at 6. And Ramsey. Also, the Browns are likely the only team of the bunch ahead of us that want to draft a QB. There's still a great chance for the Ravens to get a great trade from a team wanting one of the top QBs of the draft.

On the Titans, I actually think they go defense in the first round. Their offense isn't great, but it has put up decent numbers. But they badly need playmakers on defense. I think they get Bosa or Nkemdiche.

Yeah, he was the other one I was thinking of. Take whoever falls between Stanley and VH3 and wait to see who falls on day two.

If the draft were tomorrow, I honestly don't think we'd be able to swing a trade with a team wanting a QB. We'd be looking at the Saints and 49ers who could realistically be going into the draft with the express aim of walking out with a franchise QB. Maybe the Rams as well. I like the idea of playing the two off against each other, but from the perspective of NO/SF a side like the Titans or Cowboys would make a more appealing trade partner so they can move further up and secure their QB earlier - especially if the Browns do Browns things and open the draft by taking Lynch.

After doing a bit of lurking on the Browns forum, it seems the Lynch bandwagon is already starting to build momentum. You can't make this stuff up.

Yeah, I'm not too big on the Titans either but my feeling is they could well be looking to trade back. Stansil/Tunley would be nice but probably not worth a high pick to play anything other than LT, Bosa's a questionable fit and they have Orakpo and Morgan already (albeit I'm not sure of their contract situations) and VH3/Ramsey/Kim D would feel like a reach at #2. I need to spend some time on their forum because I'm struggling to get a read on them atm.

Yeah, losing out is really the most reliable way for us to land a pick in the top five. Just that our current position in relation to tiebreakers shouldn't be taken at face value (I know I know, says the guy who runs "if the draft were tomorrow" hypotheticals every week).

if we somehow land tunsil or stanley i'd like to keep KO. Our identity would need to be our Offensive line. Tunsil is such a good run blocker. Would make us an epic running team with such good blocking TE's
