Steve Smith Sr. The Legend

Glad to hear Steve is considering a return. If he does, we need co-star for him. Most times, he was the only viable WR on the field.

I think Steve should move to the slot. He's very effective there, plus there's no telling just how good he'll be returning from that Achilles injury at age 36.

I think you make Sr the co-star, whether that means drafting another WR high or taking another veteran off the waiver wire in the offseason. Put less pressure on Sr's body and make sure he doesn't get whacked on every single play because he's the only guy worth throwing to. Spotrac's pegged Victor Cruz, Greg Jennings or Pierre Garcon as possible cap casualties, and while he's playing out of his mind this year you never know what's going on with Larry Fitzgerald this offseason.

A little more on Steve's potential return:

Hopefully it's true. Nobody wants their career to end that way.

(and we need a proven WR on the roster next year lol)

Man ... I wish him well. Rehab that injury is tough.

This injury is sad .. but the small sliver of silver lining in that dark, dark cloud is that Joe is now going to have to use all of our guys and we'll get a nice sample of games where we get to see who is worth keeping and who needs to go.

Even with SSS (potentially) coming back, we're going to need one or more additions to this group. Hopefully, a couple of current players (including our 2015 1st round pick) prove themselves before all is said and done and we don't need to completely reconstruct the position.

Larry would be a dream come true. Fitz and Breshad on the outside with SSS in the slot. Sweet mother.

@JasonLaCanfora: Steve Smith leaning strongly to continuing his playing career. Will undergo Achilles surgery next Monday. Warrior wants to keep fighting

I've seen Peter King offer the same report. Even though it's speculative, that's such a relief to hear. I was hoping he'd have a similar reaction to Robert Mathis, who was considering retiring after his 2014 season before tearing his Achilles and wowing to come back this year.

Personally I think it's the right thing for him to do.  And I think his family would want it too.  Here's to a speedy recovery.

I just saw his contract details and I don't think he'll get cut this offseason since there's too much dead money involved this year. Garcon would be a decent addition though.

Yup, Pierre is definitely better than anyone we have at the moment so I would welcome him with open arms

I'm glad to hear the same thing. No way he wants his dream to end like this. Aiken also really seemed to step up so maybe he can be Felix next to Steve's Oscar.

I don't think his final moment on walking off the field will be him with a towel over his head.  No way is this the end for him.

I'd love to see Garcon as a Raven.  The guy is a competitor and would be good in the run game as well because he is a good blocker.  He has also played in the WCO under both Kyle Shanahan and Gruden.

Yup, he's had some solid seasons with Washington with some shaky QB play and had that monster season in '13 and he's only 29

I still can't believe we ended up getting Steve Smith on our team. That's a blessing I'm thankful for everyday, no matter how short-lived it ended up being.

It's interesting that Baltimore's two wins both came during matches that Smith was injured.

I wouldnt read too much into that but it is super interesting....

We lost the game he didn't play, though. Interesting, but meaningless coincidence.
