The good, bad, and really sad, Week 8 edition

Oh on another note, I love watching Harbs getting fired up when a young player makes a good play like Hill's pass breakup against Gates. That was really cool to see.

Not many I'd imagine, what he do? Like 20 snaps?

How ever many every other series equates to.

He alternated series with Arrington...

I don't understand why Pees keeps putting Arrington on the outside. It's really not his strong suit  at all.

Commitment to putting Webb in the slot.  They clearly want him there in nickel sets.

It's a WIN guys!!! sure at times it was ugly and at times it was nice but a WIN is a  WIN... I hope SSS is fine I know he has to rehab but he has the drive and will power to do it. I just hope he decides to come back and hold off on retirement that being said I am so happy he has been a part of the Raven family for the last couple of years.

Better question, did he actually cover a STARTER? Keneen and Steve went out pretty quick. Wright was likely covering back ups in his limited snaps. Nothing to write home about.

That's understandable but Webb even if he has slowed down a bit is still a better outside corner than Arrington. Wright did play better in this game but The Ravens need another outside corner bad right now and i'm not sure if Tray Walker is ready

Yep.  He was on Keenan Allen a few times in the first half.

Not gonna lie, I was actually pretty impressed with him.  On the drive where SD had to punt out of the back of the end zone, he held beautiful coverage on 3rd down.  He did exactly what he was supposed to by pushing that WR towards the sideline and limiting the areas to throw.  I saw him getting a lot of props, mostly from Harbaugh, on the sidelines after that play.

I was going to say something to that effect, and mention that exact play, but you beat me to it.

Maybe Harbaugh did the right thing by throwing him under the bus after the SF game. Not that it's something I'd advocate as a standard form of practice, but different players respond to different forms of motivation and teaching in different ways, and maybe that worked for Wright.

I loved the way Flacco kept plays alive today by buying time with his feet. Our o-line seriously needs to get it's poop together.

I usually hate to single out certain players, but man, James Hurst is awful.  Ingram hit him with a nasty bull rush multiple times, and he couldn't handle the speed rush either.

Am I the only one in panic mode because of SSS missing the rest of the season and Marlon/Kamar will now be our number one? Ozzie seriously can't expect a run to get into the playoffs with Flacco's starting WR's.

The Good: I'm critical of Trestman but I think he called a good game. He just needs to stop being so conservative and get players involved more often.

The Bad: Defense again not shutting down opposing QBs. I'm not sure what happened on the play where Floyd was wide open for a 70 yard TD, but that was a critical 3rd & 10.

Ugly: The officiating. Good lord, Kyle Arrington didn't touch the guy and got called for PI. They really didn't want to give us that safety. Being at the stadium, I was waiting for a manure chant when they were so bent on not giving us a safety. So the RB stopped waiting for a hole to open, Officials rule forward progress was stopped? Yet Chris Johnson gets tackled to the ground and his progress wasn't stopped?

Really Ugly: Feel so bad for Steve. He doesn't deserve to go out like this. I hope Steve reconsiders retirement just so he can go out on his own terms next year.

On the positive side, maybe we will see. Ore of Ross and Butler, bc I definitely have seen enough of brown

Not sure if it's been mentioned earlier in the thread, but Joe seemed to put more zip on the balls than he usually does imo. More low-arching laser shots and less balloon floaters that are 'easily' intercepted.

Nice to see Joe play an INT-free game for a change.

think it's bc he had more time to plant his feet, had good protection for most of the game

Reading some of these "we should have lost so we can improve our draft position" posts really make me wonder sometimes.   Really disappointing for a team's fans to act.

The Good:  Nice to see Kamar Aiken step up today.   I'm not sold on him until after a couple more games, but it doesn't matter at this point.   He is the #1 receiver on the team.   We have no choice now.    Also nice to see the offensive line for the most part give Flacco time to throw.   Notice he was stepping into throws today?  The line gave him time.  Crazy what happens when the team around a QB also begins to play, the QB benefits from it.

The Bad:  Other than the 70 yarder to Floyd late in the game, the defense did the best it could and didn't break this time so I can't seem much bad there.   However, Marlon Brown continues to prove why he wouldn't make 31 other teams.   And the refs are just so horrible they really are making the game difficult to watch.   Unnecessary roughness for tacking now?   Seriously?

The Real Sad:   Thank you Steve Smith Sr.   This isn't the way you wanted to go out I'm sure.   And it's probably the one loss the Ravens simply will not be able to overcome.   I have enjoyed watching you play.     Oh, and I'll put the refs in here too, just because.

Good: We won!

Bad: Steve Smith done for the year and maybe his career.

Sad: Fans upset we won because we hurt our draft position. Smh

I thought Joe played great throughout.

The team played with desire for the second straight week and hope it continues.

I am beginning to like buck Allen. Impressed by his receiving out of the backfield and run after the catch.

I thought Trestman liked the tight end? Like to see Maxx targeted....once.

Asa Jackson is finally starting to earn a spot.

Before Steve Smith Sr. was hurt, Kamar Aiken had 1 catch for 3 yards. He finished with a career-high 6 for 62.

Don't know what that's about. Guess Flacco just doesn't like Throwing to Aiken or he's just liked into his first read most of the time. Either way, it's weird.

Nice to get a win!!!

Will Hill is the one guy on the defense that plays like a Raven.  We need more guys like him on the team.

Good game from the offense.  I liked seeing Flacco get all the receivers involved.  Givens looks promising.

Sad to see Smith Sr. go down.

I don't think anyone is expecting a run to get into the playoffs.   Just enjoy that all the games have been pretty exciting to watch.

Ok, we'll see if it's cute and funny when Flacco gets sacked so much because his current WR's can't get seperation.

First off, you mentioned playoffs. Secondly, its been proven that Flacco locks in on Sr and others can in fact get open. Flacco just loves himself some Sr.

Good: Flacco's hands -- reaching out to one hand the ball on Urschel's errrant shotgun snaps

Bad: Gillmore also left the game with an arm injury.

Sad: If Gillmore's injury impacts or prevents him from playing. We might have lost our 2 most productive pass catchers today.
