Browns Trade Rumors

23 posts in this topic

No, the Ravens aren't currently discussing with the Browns and it'd honestly probably be pricey to get a player from them, but the Browns are apparently discussing trading Kruger, Mingo, Mack, and Thomas.

Would have to wonder if the Ravens would kick the tires on any of those guys.

Thomas is one of my favorite players in the NFL. Such a beast

I've always been a fan of his as well. Weren't the Ravens trying to get Mack in the past? Wonder if the Browns are dumb enough to trade one of the best offensive linemen in the league to a divisional rival. I don't think Thomas is a possibility though. We've invested a lot in Monroe.

The Browns drafted Manziel in the first round to answer the stupidity question. The fact that they've had like IDK 10 first rounders over the past 5 seasons and they still suck speaks MOUNTAINS over how stupid they are.

I'd want Mack or Mingo

Good point. Wonder what it would take to get Mack though.

Mack was apparently the back up plan to Monroe, but the transition tender made it near impossible. A trade now would be the only way to get him for a reasonable price because once he opts out with the Browns, he's gone

I'd would give up a third rounder next year for Mack, and a 4th and 5th rounder this year plus Zuttah.

Getting a potential franchise center is worth it. Plus it makes the interior untouchable.

Agreed. A franchise center can make all the different in the world for an offensive line. And Mack would fit Trestman's inside running scheme very well. A third rounder plus a late pick next year and a player is worth it.

Hate to break it to you but we don't have that kinda cap

Don't need an All-World center... its not a requirement to win in this league (particularly when you have to pay to get that). Zuttah's been playing just fine.

I'm good with that.

Agree with other sentiments... only one that makes sense is Mingo due to the price tag. We're certainly not in a position to be inheriting lineman who will cost north of $8M next season.

I doubt they trade Thomas anyway.

Alex Mack would be nice, but he turns 30 this month and will command a high price tag to re-sign him. I know if he becomes a free agent, we may have the cap room to compete with other teams but will lose out. Much rather go the Cowboys route and build the O-line through the draft. Maybe put Urschel at G, then take a Center in next year's draft at a cheaper cost.

Or, I'd just keep Zuttah, since I think he's been doing just fine. Still has three more years left on his deal at very manageable salaries ($3.5M each year).

Mack isn't going anywhere, he said it himself. In fact he ensured he wasn't going anywhere as he put in a no trade clause in his contract. He will not waive it prior to the deadline.

That clause, Mack wrote, “was included for a good reason: I’m not leaving my teammates, coaches and Browns fans while there is work this season to be finished.”

Rumor going around that Denver is offering a 1st for Joe Thomas. Elway is going for it all

I just read that Browns asked for Shaq Barrett as well as a 1st round pick but Denver said no. Was from NBC Sports, not sure what they're like reliability wise.

PFT usually gets their stuff from reliable NFL insiders though they can be sketchy at times.

I just don't know where Denver would have got the cap to fit Thomas in the cap.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the reason Denver turned it down was because the Browns wanted 2 first round picks.

He's worth a first and a second at absolute best. Can't give 2 1s for him

Browns lucked out. They would have taken two steps back with trading Thomas. For Denvers best case pick 27? Even with a later pick it's a horrible decision. I love seeing the Browns fail though so it would have been fun to see.
