[News] Late For Work 10/30: Steve Smith's Agent Not Convinced He'll Retire

49 posts in this topic

I am somewhat shocked that more analysts are picking the Ravens than I would have guessed at this point. I don't pay much attention to predictions but it's at least encouraging that there is enough confidence left in this Ravens team to believe we will break out of this losing funk. I am more than ready to see the Ravens come out on the winning end of things for a change.

West coast team coming East to play a 1pm game, and the Chargers are nothing special. Horrendous run defense, banged up secondary, and they don't run the ball that well. Rivers is averaging 57 attempts per game the last three games, which is an unsustainable offense for just about any team in the league (except maybe the Patriots).

If our offense plays well, we should win this game.

Dennis needs to think of his family first, it's hard to play sports with your kids when using a cane to get around!

@Ravensfan4life2010... Marlon Brown actually was actually projected by some analysis to have been a mid to late round draft pick if he had not tore his acl his final year of college ball.. and Kamar is actually not bad when in the slot... problem is more of the scheme... I find it as a real disservice to Trestman that he's calling someone else's plays... I think that's where the real problem lies.. let's be honest how comfortable can you really be if you have to drive somewhere using another person's car... even though you know how to drive... you are not sure of how the car will drive... therefore you hesitate when taking sharp turns... I feel Trestman should be able to use his own playbook...

If my car was a 2001 ford focus and the other guys car was a 2016 Lexis SUV...yeah, I might not mind so much.

is there anyone who believes Mike Florio is relevant?

Just Partriots wonks, but since he is so obviously a Patriots paid propagandist, go figure....

Had the Super Bowl in our lap last season and a very very very bad pass stopped all that! For all that blamed Torrey he paid you back and he didn't have to stop and turn to catch the Rock! Triple " S " will be back so he can get that ring with THE RAVENS!

For those of you who are saying that Trestman is way worse than Kubiak and should go - let's think of all the differences between last year and this year: 1) Their offensive line was amazing last year and is terrible this year. And they're not worse schematically, they're just not playing as well 2) How would Kubiak have fared without Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones (and Steve Smith for some games) last year. Kamar Aiken is a #3 receiver being asked to play #1 at times and Marlon Brown shouldn't be in the league 3) Because none of their receivers get separation - defenses are able to load up against the run 4) Our defense has been beyond terrible this year which exposes our offenses' biggest flaw - needing to throw the ball with a terrible receiving unit that can't get open. We have NO deep threat at all (hopefully Chris Givens will turn into one) Kubiak might indeed be a better offensive coordinator but even if we had him this year there's no guarantee that we would be playing at a high level on offense. Food for thought.

You can only go on history.  Kubiak has a history of producing 1000 yard rushers over his career.  To say we have the same line they just aren't playing as well reeks of they aren't playing as well IN THIS SYTEM.  Why, because we have a run blocking line who thrived in Kubiaks system and were not great pass blockers but with the play action, the 3 and 5 step drops, Flacco was able to get the ball out and not be as pressured.  Trestmans recent history is he did well in Canada, they hired him as a head coach in Chicago where they stunk and now he is in Baltimore and we stink.  Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.  Based on the drop off if Trestman is here next year I will be shocked and if he is here next year we need a new qb who can throw 50 times and win (Joe is 0-12 when he throws over 40 times), a new line who is better at pass blocking and 5 or 6 wide receivers because after Steve Smith we really have no one who can run routes and get open and that is a must for a Trestman system.

Steve Smith has made it pretty clear he is retiring. He wants to spend time with his family while they are still young. Keep dreaming about next year when we already cashed out of 2015. Man some guys are getting overpaid this year for what they have done on the field. Ozzie needs to reassess how to build a playoff contender with the new CBA and pass friendly rules. Why are we always at operating with no cap space? There are easy ways to avoid that, but Ozzie always seems to back load contracts and guarantee more money to guys who take paycuts leaving them on the hook for more money. Look at Webb and Flacco's contracts and you will see what I mean.

Hey, next year the NFL can screw us even more than this year. With a change in the scheduling we will play all eight division winners on the road. We will play the second place teams in every division in London. Also, Roger will find a way to take 5 draft picks from the Ravens. Meanwhile

the Pats will get the easiest schedule for the 20th straight year.

Didn't the analysts pick the Ravens to beat the Browns? Pitta who? I hope Pitta does the right thing and retire for his family and for his own health. What wouldn't surprise me is if Jacoby takes one to the house to show Oz what's up.

Thanks, Gary Davenport, but 'The Ravens Get A Break!?!?' I don't know, it seems like this 'Bad Joke' will never end! He must not have watched our games, this year, because this team and 'Getting A Break' are not usable in the same sentence, I don't think so. We're snake-bitten, for sure.

Regarding panelist picks..... Of Course Bettis picks against us. I was at the Cleveland game and the air was sucked out of the stadium.  Harbaugh should make the team watch the vid over and over until they protest. If we want to be on a win track it starts @ HOME.      We win or I burn my porch flag!!!!!!!!!  :sofa:

I wonder which alternative division teams we play in 016?      All you said can happen and if so Requote.
