[News] Dean Pees: Jimmy Smith Playing Too Tentative

78 posts in this topic

Ravens have had a consistent guy that can cover man-to-man since Chris McAlister. Webb, J Smith, Monroe, all got paid and all of them are under achieving. I think Jimmy is overrated. Stop making excuses because Ravens paid him. If he is the real deal, be it healthy or not, he would have shown it by now. He is inconsistent, Webb injury prone, Monroe is soft. They are who they are.

I think I've just got on board the "Pees must go" bandwagon. Calling out our players is not the Ravens way.

Harbaugh did the same thing, so he must go too, bring in a new head coach with his own coordinators.

In an optimal world, we kick Dean out the door and get Pagano back

Let's hope this happens. I think harbs is a pretty decent coach, but he might be too loyal. Heck, we'd still have mattison had he not taken the Michigan job

"I hope Jimmy gets healthy and returns to the shutdown corner we all want. " I hope so Ravens are paying him 7 million next year but of course Ravens are paying part time Webb about the same.

Was he asked by a reporter about J. Smith's play?

When did Harbaugh call out a player by name? link?

Harbaugh said last year he was disappointed in the play of Tyrod Taylor. How the heck do you call out a guy who doesn't play?

It doesn't have to be by name, he got in Wright and Babin face on the sideline each game they messed up, but he didn't get in Flacco face when he threw game ending interceptions in either game. Why is it ok for him to yell at a new guy but a guy that's suppose to know better he doesn't. Then he talked about Wright looking in the back field during the postgame interview. If everyone wants to ride Pees don't forget the coach that road Billick's team through the playoffs once a quarterback was in place. He inherited a great team that only needed a QB, now the great team is gone the true colors are shown. We would have had 3 back to back failing seasons if it wasn't from Kubiak last year. My point is every year people call out coordinators and forget the most consistent let down, the head coach.

OH, Jimmy's "...playing too tentative",... that's what it is? That's what the Secondary's problem is?

So, Webb's cushion on 3rd Downs and the overall lack of teamwork in coverage 20 yards beyond the LOS are systemic problems indicating that the players do not know how to play together as a unit!   :o

Pees has a lot of brass saying anyone is playing tentative. What's our record for stopping anybody from scoring at the end of the half or the game? We NEVER gave up a lead before he got here. I haven't seen any creativity in our defense for years,

Does anyone remember the safeties playing rock paper scissors to see who would blitz?

I hear you. Hey Jimmy! Line up 10 yards off the ball and be aggressive out there!

I dont ever recall hearing Harbs say he was disappointed in Flacco's play, but he's disappointed in Tyrod's play.  That makes absolutely no sense, since Tyrod has never been responsible for winning or losing a game during his time as a Raven.

The headline is a little sensational. Harbs was actually fairly complimentary on Tyrod.

"We've been very happy with Tyrod, and we feel like he has a great future, but we have been a little disappointed how he's played in games certainly," coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings. "We feel like he's a lot better than he's showed. I know he feels that way, too. We feel like Tyrod's best football is by far definitely in front of him, but he's only got one year left with us, so we need to add a quarterback into the mix, whether it be offseason or in the draft.”

I can't argue with any of that!

We used to have a rep for the defense getting off the field without allowing much more than a couple 1st Downs and at the worst a FG!  Now, one never knows!
