[News] Late For Work 10/29: Here's Why Breshad Perriman Isn't On Injured Reserve

138 posts in this topic

Aiken and Brown experiment?? DONE! It was DONE last year. Organization overvalued them. Brown cant get open and cant catch, and Aiken can catch but cant get open. Aiken is a reserve WR 4th at best.

Next year you try to talk Smith sr out of retirement, to go with Perriman, then you draft a couple studs Michael Thomas OSU,Josh Doctson TCU,Will Fuller ND,

ABoldin will be a FA WR next year - as will Travis Benjamin.... wouldn't mind adding either and the price should be right on both. Obviously... don't believe that either would be our # 1... but if Perriman returns (and assuming SSS retires).... singing either of these guys would mean that we could look at a OT in round one and pick up another WR in rounds 2-4... Perriman plus one of these two (or both) and a solid 3rd round draft pick (and there are some in this years draft) with Camp returning and Waller returning... We could look much better at WR next year! (assuming Perriman, Camp and Waller could stay healthy)... Heck maybe better add two VETS

Maybe Mcjacket or Bio will have an explanation for this one- Why would we add Jeremy Butler to the 53 man roster only to de-activate him? That move struck me as odd. Also please explain to some bloggers about the cap space next year not being a "spend free" spree just because we lose Rice's and other dead money. Thanks

you shouldn't encourage them

Peace in the middle east in my lifetime, flying cars, Perriman practicing, all these things would be wonderful, but reality??? Sigh!....GO RAVENS!

Monroe as trade bait? Are you kidding me? He's on the hospital bed more than he is on the field- also, I don't think any sane GM would give him the money that Oz gave for him- that's the funnies thing I heard all day.

Perriman? Same old story... The closest he's personally gotten to playing on the field is via Madden on Playstation.

Steelers have more players on IR, yet they have a better record with a backup quarterback- sounds to me that they drafted better, Oz?

It puzzles me when I hear Ravens faithful saying, "We'll never be a top tier franchise like some of these other teams until we make some major changes on this roster and in our front office." Ummm who exactly are these "other" top tier teams. I've heard the Packers, Seahawks, and Steelers being mentioned...Ravens-10 playoff wins since '08, Packers- 6 playoff wins since '08, Seahawks-7 playoff wins since '08, Steelers-5 playoff wins since '08...Amazing how quickly fans forget..

I actually feel like the Ravens are a little better with Hurst than with Monroe.....Monroe has never impressed me, there is a reason why the worst team in the league was willing to get rid of him.

There's nothing I've seen to like about Hurst, and there's nobody that thinks Hurst is playing better than Monroe when they are on the field.

The Jags traded him because they drafted a LT in the top 5.

SSS yelp rating is pretty generous IMO :-) The officiating seems to get worse every year and I'm not just talking about during Raven's games. Across the board they just suck the fun out of the game more and more.

We don't have the weapons to make teams pay for blitzing. It's that simple. Need receivers who will get open quickly, run the right route EVERY TIME, including hot reads, has good hands and makes plays after the catch. If you can't do those things, then you're going to be a liability rather than an asset and mistakes will be made when the QB tries to get the ball to you. The fact is, other than SSR, we just don't have the horses to make those teams pay for blitzing.  And one injured 36 year old isn't enough, because he's too easy to shut down underneath and at the front end of routes.  He's effective when we get Joe 3+ seconds to throw to him, and we don't really have anybody right now who is effective inside of that, which what we need to make teams pay for blitzing.

I'll admit that when the Ravens picked Perriman in Round 1, I was honestly very surprised. I had thought they would've either gone with Jaelen Strong or just traded back into the 2nd round, but if Perriman in fact doesn't play at all this season, and we get a good player in Round 1 this spring, it would essentially be like having two first round picks because we as fans have only heard the coaching staff talk about Perriman's abilities, we haven't really seen what he can do yet.

I believe the team should draft as though Perriman didn't make it back due to the possibility of re-injury. However, I believe a future pass rusher and cb are the biggest need if quality is available. Quality will have everything to do with the position drafted by the team in first two rounds.

sure we need to upgrade at receiver but when drafting in the top 5 you have to grab that LT or pass rusher. if they could trade monroe that would be fantastic

hurst is a quality backup who will improve but he is not a long term solution at LT. if he isnt traded we can only hope monroe turns things around

I'm not one of them, but sometimes mysterious promotions to the 53 mean that another team is trying to poach one of our PS players. The only way to keep him is to promote him to our roster.

Not to mention that all the other 31 NFL teams do the same - promoting players from the PS all of a sudden, without much of an apparent cause, then cut him...

These are things we, simple fans will never have a chance to really understand... lack of information.

Jacoby is a Raven for life. Never forget

He could go on returning punts and kickoffs for 6 all night, he would still be one of my absolute favourite players - or persons, rather.

Ozzie has shown he drafts first round WRs about as well as Cleveland drafts QBs. It would be foolish to use another first rounder on another Perriman clone just so they can keep each other company in the training room on game day. He should stick with the things in his wheelhouse -- defensive players, TEs (although we don't need one this coming year) and RB and acquire everything else in FA.

It's interesting to me that Torrey, Jacoby are having such lousy years on other teams. Probably should have just taken less $ in a system that works for them; it would be curious if we can get one or the other back at a big discount next year.

Don't want either back. Torrey is locked into the 49ers next season (no way you cut a guy with that contract after one season) and Jacoby is purely a kick returner, so its not a system issue for him, because kick returners are kick returners.

I'd never advocate a player take less money, and I have no reason to suspect that adding either of those two to this team currently would all of the sudden make us a legit contender. Got a lot of other problems as well.

Monroe has no trade value. None. No real point dealing him for a seventh, and I don't even know who would give us that given the amount of time he has not been on the field and in consideration of his salary. In other news Oher is looking quite good this year, so maybe we jumped the gun too soon on him.

The Titans disagree, and so do the Ravens.

No realistic person thinks Oher would be an upgrade on anybody we have, Hurst included.

Ain't that the truth?

Others are saying Steelers and Bengals, but with all that top tier talent, what exactly have they done with it? Neither team can win a playoff game. Our banged up secondary starting players poached off of Miami's PS (Melvin) and off the couch in Nov. (Gorrer) did better than that.
