[News] Home Stretch Provides Chance For Ravens Rebound

54 posts in this topic

I'm totally fine with just a 2 win season as long as they are both vs Pitt. Beating them twice and still getting a top draft pick is about as good as this season can get at this point. I don't think we need to try hard for Rivers to pick our secondary apart, but we might have to help the Jags out with a timely gaffe to help them into the lead.

I know I will be up in my section cheering my Ravens on just as much as ever this Sunday, but from the amount of tickets I've seen being sold on Facebook and other sites, we will truly see how fairweather this so called great fan base really is. I love my Baltimore teams I hate the majority of the fans around here, they are quick to turn on players coaches etc, and are truly spoiled by the amount of success the Ravens have had, But no need for me to talk about it you all will see come Sunday at all the empty seats and how quiet it will be at the stadium, I mean even the last home game, fans were sitting on their hands and leaving early and the Ravens were up fighting to hold on, RavenNation lol yeah ok. It sickens me how fast people turn on this team. Go root for the Skins or one of the other 20 teams that would love to have had the type of success the Ravens had so far.

Please no more quoting those previous records/statistics (in November Ravens are 12-2 in home games - blah blah blah). Every time this season we hear statistics, this team breaks them in a bad way. I'm not listening to statistics anymore this season.

Teams respond to crowd noise. That has been a strength in Baltimore in the past. However, the number of empty seats at the Cincinnati game and the mediocre response during the Cleveland game (both before we were 1-6) suggests that perhaps there are issues in that area as well as on the field.

I have observed the same, and while I wish this were not true, it is true about this fan base overall. The actual true fans that know how to rally behind their team are a much smaller number than the overall group that claims to support this team. Some say they support but then everything out of their mouth is so unsupportive. I'm just glad Flacco (and others) appear to not notice this, or else they might become hugely discouraged. Maybe not...just glad he's kinda unaware it seems the level of negativity around fans. I should try to be more positive of the fans but they are just so hugely disappointing. The actually team, I'm quite proud of them, their attitude and the fight in them. I know they've had difficulties on many angles, so for them to be so tough throughout this first half season is something Ravens Nation should be grateful for...but that's asking a lot considering many here think this team sucks...I for one don't, and will be cheering them on, and attending in person the Seattle game! :D

If you go back to some of my posts from the past couple of years I talked at nausium about Harbaughs coaching mentality of always doing just enough to win. Meaning, hanging on by a thread and being there in the last 2 minutes with an opportunity to win. I'll admit, my point wasn't helped by the fact that were still winning BUT I proposed the question at the time - what happens when they stop finding a way to win. Well here we are and Harbs coaching mentality has finally caught up to him, albeit because the talent on the field cannot find a way to win. When will our coaching staff learn to be aggressive for a full 60 minute football game? When will the players find a sense of urgency to play football for a full 60 minutes instead of the final 2 minutes? Enough with the "we're not giving up" enough with the "we'll get it straightened out" - YOU HAVEN'T YET and we are in in week 8!!!

Well, we won a Super Bowl 3 years ago, so that was quite an accomplishment for Harbaugh, Flacco and other players then. They found a way that year. And it's not like any football franchise just keeps winning the Super Bowl every year, so to have had won one in the last 5 years is good, and making playoffs is good. This is the first really bad year, so many good years this team made playoffs. Not all franchises can tote such a record thus far.

Ravens need to work on fundamentals. Still not seeing solid football on either side of the scrimmage line. Start by making little changes, then build on the successes.

Am I the only fan who doesn't want a rebound? 1st pick in the 1st and 2nd rounds could completely change our team.

I agree with you! If we are not going to make the playoffs why rebound? I would much rather have very high draft picks. The only 2 games left I want us to win are the Steelers and Bengals games b/c of the rivalry. High draft picks are more important than a widow dressing record.

I am not sure about this home stretch though Ryan. We lost to the lowly Browns here remember?

Don't remind me...lol

The Ravens typically turn it on in November, particularly at home. Under Harbaugh (since 2008), the Ravens are 12-2 in November home games, the best mark in the NFL. Baltimore has won 20 of its past 11 home games in November.

This season has proven that all of theses rah rah stats prior to this year, don't mean squat.

Although the optimism is encouraging, i'm not going to set myself up for disappointment again. Not being at home had nothing or very little to do with us losing all of those games since they were all lost pretty much the exact same way. The ravens just cannot finish games.

Our team will win out the remainder of their schedule and will go 10-6 and have a legit shot at the playoffs. Then January Joe will take over. Peter King will be seen as a prophet of the NFL. The odds may be against them, but they will BEAT THE ODDS! BEAT THE ODDS! BEAT THE ODDS!

The moment a fan makes a statement like this, they  :Dancing_Banana_Homer_by_zorkky: come with pitchforks!

I happen to think that having a top pick from between, say, #6 to #15 offers us a chance to nab a game-changer for the Defense!  This, while we wait for our $$$'s worth out of Perriman and Maxx Williams!

This season has shown that Webb's and Jimmy's salaries, then playing "small-Ball" with the $$$ on the rest of the Secondary - well, it ain't working!

Ravens Early 1st Round Picks:  Ogden (#4), Jamal Lewis (#5), Suggs (#10), Ngata (#12), Flacco (#18), Mosley (#17)...

Picks in the 20s... Elam (32), Oher (23), Perriman (26)

And we get lucky sometimes ... Lewis (26), Heap (31), Reed (24)
