[News] Late For Work 10/27: 8 Crazy Things That Have Happened To Ravens This Season

117 posts in this topic

I dont get it I thought your ankle counted as down, did they change the rules? Should Ross have been down by contact with his ankle/Knee area touching the ground as demonstrated in this game: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d814828c9/Austin-down-by-ankle

I really don't see how these things can be reviewed by the ref under the hood and "New York" and be completely missed unless there is some conspiracy or they just dont care to know and follow the rules.

Never thought I would see the Ravens in the running for a #1 draft pick. Yes,we have the worst record in the league but I still don't believe we are the worst team. Refs played a role in the outcome last night and I am sick of seeing refs influencing the outcomes of games with bad calls like last night and throughout the league.

Lackluster play at critical points in each game has cost the Ravens each game they've lost. The players display a lack of care as to whether they win or not. Just last night the Cardinals running back Johnson was able to score while the Ravens defense could have stopped his advance, but only ran half speed to catch him. That is just one example. Too many times this group has just had no motivation to win. I think the refs have joined in with the players in helping the team lose.

Can't imagine why Marlon Brown is still playing on this team. Smith, Givens, Aiken, Ross and the TE's should be enough. It looks like Boyle was a steal in this draft. He could be our #1 TE.

I am not one to point fingers at the refs all the time, an honest called penalty is fine with me, but even with the Ravens making the mistakes that they make, some of these decisions and calls by the "pro" refs are beyond angering....... Why aren't they held to the same standards as the players? How can they keep making horrible calls and get away with them, week after week, not just for our team, but for all teams? Although they sure seem to target the Ravens most often..... Sorry, I know many will not agree with me on this and so be it, but it is getting really ridiculous game after game.... :(

This disaster was in the making since the superbowl. We lost the majority of the starters, then came injuries and then Ozzies non aggressive off season moves. Ravens missed the playoffs after the superbowl, only made it last season because we got help then this mess. There was too much trust put into starters and below average players that soon as we lost one or two key players the entire team is falling apart. Why does it seem there's always a 10yd gap between our corners and the receivers. Missed tackles, no pressure on the qb. And we have receivers that I swear were serving hot dogs just a week ago. Biscotti has to be watching this circus act and doing his best not to run head first into a wall. If this season isn't a clear sign that real aggressive changes need to be made then Ozzie is on that good stuff. If it wasn't for Josh Scobee this team would be 0-7. Let that sink in.

The refs certainly put the Ravens in a no win situation when they failed to blow the whistle after the tackle by Williams. There was absolutely no reason for failing to blow the whistle 3 seconds after Johnson was stopped. Johnson's forward progress was clearly stopped and every player on both teams stood around, knowing the play was over. Harbs and fans are correct. If any of our defenders would have hit Johnson 3 seconds after Williams had him on the ground, flags would have been flying everywhere for a late hit. The refs were pathetic last night.

One week we blame the offense, most weeks we have blamed the defense. Just waiting to see more useless roster moves this week instead of looking at the one common denominator in all of the ever-mounting failures of this season: the coaching staff. If there isn't a major shakeup at the end of the season, I'll really have to wonder...

But the #1 pick goes to the team with the worst record, not the worst team. So, getting the top pick without being the worst team still beats having a later pick and being the worst team ;)

I know Flacco isn't surrounded by amazing talent, but his deep throws this year have been off. I can remember in the Denver, Oakland, Cleveland, and now the Arizona game where Flacco missed a open WR deep for a TD.

I realize that the #1 pick goes to the worst record. That's why I made the point that I don't think we are the worst team. Our games have been competitive and close. Will be interesting to see where we draft but I think we will not be in the basement record-wise when all is said and done. I still see a good bit of fight in our players and I can't conceive of anyone in the Ravens organization tanking the season on purpose at this point, or ever.

When players and coaches don't do their job well they get fired. When Referees don't do their job well, the league turns a blind eye? If referees aren't disciplined how will they ever learn?

I am really tired of all the talking heads saying that this group or that group cost us the game.

But of course it is never the officials. BS. The officials cost us this game. Stop kissing the NFL

butt and be honest (which the refs are NOT). Also, I am really sick of hearing how headsets go out

in the final minute of the game. BS BS BS

Marlon Brown`s hands are made of rubber...anything that hits them, bounces right off.

Yea, I always vouched for Marlon Brown, but his production has really been going down this season. That one drop he had last night was just him being scared to catch the ball.

Anyone see when Marlon Brown dropped that pass from Flacco. Coach Harbaugh put his butt on special teams on the very next play. Now that was good coaching.

The NFL is big business, big money at stake. So why does the NFL still have part-time refs who are sometimes clueless, damaging the integrity of the game? It is time the NFL ups the standards and have full time professionals paid well enough that this is their only focus and vocation. The NFL needs to  increase the level of accountability and competence of refs, hold refs to the same high standard demanded of everyone else involved in the sport. Week to week, refs are sucking the life out of this game with bad calls and the NFL has literally dropped the ball on upholding adequate standards and consequences for refs.

Well the refs will never be disciplined unless Kraft says to. Look on the bright side there are only 9 games left to think about. If you take them individually there is only 9 days left in the season. 1 more week to go until the bye week and that could be very exciting. Guaranteed we won't lose, but maybe there will be changes, probably not.

Anyone see the hit Upshaw put on #20 during that punt return where Jeremy Ross SUPPOSEDLY fumbled.

He just expressed all the frustration that was in me on that hit. Now get somebody to help him!! (In my Ray Lewis voice) Great job by Upshaw!!!

8 Consistent Things that Keep Happening to the Ravens! 1. We keep giving up 27 points per game 2. We keep making opposing QBs look great 3. We keep making stupid penalties 4. Giving up big plays on defense 5. We continue to struggle getting off of the field on 3rd down. 6. We continue to struggle to get to the opposing QB and get pressure on them. 7. We continue to make poor excuses and give lip service after the game. 8. WE CONTINUE TO LOSE!

"Scobee angers Snoop Dog" :D you just can't make this stuff up. I needed a laugh cause after that stupid ref job last night I'd rather cry. Yes it's not because of refs we are 1-6, but on other hand...so many dumb ref calls have cost us dearly when we just need a break man. We...had...this....game...legitimately. Cept for dumb refs.

Yeah too bad he waits for a guy to be on the ground to hit someone. If you watch him on the replays in pass rush situations he gets stood up immediately and is completely ineffective

Not sure why people are calling for Marlon to be cut... he had one negative play last night... he turned to go up field b4 putting away the ball... other than that he blocked who he was supposed to on run plays... he ran his clear out routes to get Smith open underneath...think he caught 3 of 4 targets... No one talks about Joe constantly under throwing receivers... Chris beats his man deep but has to slow down to adjust to the under thrown ball... if Joe puts it out front like he's supposed to.. that's an easy score.. not mad J Ross either... he had the ball high and tight... the ball was ripped out of his grasp... he wasn't doing n.e thing crazy with the ball... like our season he just caught a bad break...
