Is John Harbaugh on the Hot Seat?

I don't believe the team lacks discipline, however they are starting some guys who just aren't good enough normally to be on this team. Lack of talent and experience I believe is the head of that snake. Also, these guys aren't Ravens. They are warm bodies to fill a uniform for the next month or so.

I think it's exact opposite. The team has tons of talent but they absolutely lack discipline. Poor tackling technique ( not wrapping guys up etc.) way too many dumb penalties , coverage mistakes , not taking proper routes to the ball, not containing, and not looking for the ball...it's obvious. They lack some of the basic fundamentals. That's why the patriots are so good year in and year out and they don't have that much talent. They have no starters that were first rounders. Their whole o line consists of udfas and rookies. Their whole team pretty much is guys who were plucked off the street...but the one common dominator is they have discipline..and it shows. That is what wins you games. Not making bonehead mistakes...not turning the ball over. They hardly ever fumble or throw interceptions. They actually catch the interceptions that come their way. God I hate them. But yeah Execution and discipline- the two biggest things we have lacked this year and the main reason we have lost so many games. Edited by January J

I think its both lack of talent AND lack of discipline.  I am sure between us we can point to examples of both.

These are all purely fan base perceptions though and there's no evidence they are shared by upper management, who are the only people who make the decision on whether or not Harbaugh is retained:

1. Correct, it led to FANS questioning this. I can assure you that the organization isn't questioning the handling of it, because they are the one's telling Harbaugh all the information he has, and possibly even what to say.

Completely fan perception and has no bearing on some phantom "trust" issue that Bischotti/Ozzie have with him, because they probably knew this information before Harbaugh did.

2. By all accounts, Steve talked his way into the lineup. Frankly, it wouldn't have made sense to sit him. He had already announced his retirement, so what exactly are we holding him out for? Another season that he said he wasn't coming back for?

Frankly, this is a non issue, because no reasonable fans think this way anyway. Didn't hear a single fan at any point in time saying "hey, we should shut Steve down for the season and rest him up for... retirement". If anything, Harbaugh's actions may have directly led to Steve coming back for another season, which would be a good thing.

So realistically, this is a plus for Harbaugh, not a minus.

3. This one is particularly ludicrous given that the whole concept is based on hindsight and "what if" scenarios that we already know didn't happen. Joe didn't get hurt any further, and we know this, so questioning the "what if he did" scenario doesn't work two years later. You said yourself "knowing what we know now", but this was 2 years ago, and 2 years ago, we didn't know what we know now.

Baseless.

Speculation can lead to firings... except speculation from fans has never once led to firings. They are not important to the decision making process.

So you're saying that if we end this season and next season with losing records that "Speculation/perceptions from fans and players can't lead to firings...never once?" Really?

I think he's safe. Keep in mind the reason Billick was fired was because there was a sense that he had lost the locker room. Harbaugh has made sure that hasn't happened in his case. I do expect a change in the coordinating staff especially offense.

what makes you believe the locker room is not lost....

   same boneheaded penalties

   same boneheaded expressions

ohhhh ,,, the injuries

I can't speak for anyone else, but it probably has something to do with all of the close games. This team never gives up on themselves and that is probably a credit to their head coach.

See the Miami Dolphins for an example of the reverse.

the majority of those close games we were in fact winning and it fell apart at the end, this may get a pass in 1 game maybeeee 2 , the fact that the games are close is all the more reason to question the coach or coaches, I am not advocating he gets the boot(right now), I am real honest at saying I have never been a fan of his, but the word accountability means something to me, He is a special teams coach, so he get a pass,,,,,,,,,,,, again

If there is another Harbaugh thread, forgive me.

Since Harbaugh has been here, we haven't had a bad season like this. I often wondered how Harbaugh would respond to it. Would he let the team fall apart, lose the players, or would he take charge and lead the team through it?

I think by now, we can safely say that we have our answer. Harbaugh has stepped front and center for this team, kept the men motivated and focused. The fact that this team with this roster (on the field) is in contention to win every single game is a testament to the job that he and the rest of the staff have been doing.

I love the aggressiveness, going for it on 4th down ect,, He is giving some young guys a chance to step in and earn a spot for next year, and he's holding everyone accountable..the team is still playing hard. That is all we as fans can hope for, for the team to play hard and compete down to the last minute every week. They have delivered on that. Job well done Harbs.

I questioned Harbaugh some after the sticker thing and the Perriman situation, but he's clearly got these guys motivated to win and never quit. That's on the HC and maybe the stickers work. Lol I don't know what to say.
