[News] Game Recap: Cardinals 26, Ravens 18

21 posts in this topic

Arizona delivered the knockout punch when Josh Brown found the end zone on a four-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.

I think you mean John Brown. Josh Brown kicks for the Giants.

Taking my Ravens-related frustrations out on policing grammar! That's when you know it's time for bed...

Unbelievable!!

Why was givens not playing almost every snap? Why do we wait till the fourth quarter to run an up tempo offense.

The referees in the league must hate the ravens because maaaan the calls are beyond bad! Where are the coaching adjustments? Trestman gets creative for a quarter or two an then the other two quarters he's can Cameron.

The last serious at the end of the half almost made me scream. One minute left with two timeouts an we run a play an then call a timeout just to throw a check down pass to the rb. Can somebody tell me why buck Allen was ballin but he wasn't used enough. I need a drink!!

Many fans here have said it and I've said it, and I'm hoping now that it was re-affirmed over and over by the national commentators on a national broadcast more and more of us get comfortable admitting the God's-honest reality of the situation.

1. When massive chunks of your salary cap (your playmakers) are either on IR (Suggs 4mm 2.8% , Pitta 6.2mm 4.4%) or are chronically injured and missing games (Canty 1.7mm 1.25%, Webby 9.2mm 6.6%, Perriman 1.58mm 1.15%) it's hard to compete.

2. Then you add in those three massive chunks of dead money we're suffering because of Rice 9.5mm 6.8% (really it should be 12mm cuz it costs us 3mm in Forsett to replace Rice) and the unavoidable parting with Ngata 7.5mm 5.35% and Jacoby 2.6mm 1.9%, and you've got another hand tied behind your back.

That's more than 30% of our cap that won't suit up for us this year or struggles to suit up consistently for us this year. That's before you dive into the strategic importance of those guys in our gameplans on either side of the ball.

3. Then you add to that the phenomenon that we went literally 3 years ago from being one of the oldest rosters in the league to one of the youngest now, and it's another incredible challenge for teams to overcome immediately. As Gruden pointed out, we have the youngest TE corp in the entire league and a starting WR corps consisting of career journeyman Aiken and an undrafted player in Marlon. Credit Joe Flacco for keeping us relevant.

Any one of those things in isolation would be sufficient as an explanation (dare I say 'excuse') to explain why a team isn't winning.

But consider that we, unlike any other team in the league, are cursed with all 3 of those things simultaneously. And yet these coaches (yes, Dean Pees included) keep trying to make the best with what they have and compete game in and game out in close contests.

Not a single coach or player on this team will state these things during the season. Self-pity is not in the Raven organization's DNA.

It's our job as fans to be fair and honest though. In 2015 we were dealt a crappy hand and we're trying to make the best of it we can.

This may be the best 1-6 team in NFL history.

Trestman needs to go.. The exact same play call starting the game and coming out at half, a full back pass in the Flat. Even Gruden knew it was coming. No reason Flacco should only be throwing the ball two times down the field all game.. I feel bad for our team, Trestman sets them up to fail..

This team is hilarious. I just laughing so hard. This team is a joke and stupid that aIl I got to stay. Trestman and Dean Pees are funny as well making bone head conservative calls every week and to put the icing on the cake it's the same replica of the end of the Denver game. Joe throw off his back foot to Gillmore and intercepted at the back of the end zone. It's the same stuff happen over and over again every week. Aren't we tired of this crap it's time to get serious and I mean serious get some anger in these players. Don't worried about the playoffs because that's over now it time to win football games.

The Ravens lose every week because the opponent makes big plays and the Ravens don't. Flacco has Givens wide open for a long touchdown and underthrows him. Aiken and Brown hardly have to be covered. Webb and Smith play 10 yards off the receiver and look scared to death. We don't get takeaways, but give up plenty. Frankly, this team expects to lose which is why it always does. Steve Smith is the only one who plays with the guts of a winner. I put this on the coaches. "Play like a Raven" is a thing of the past.

have to hope a season like this leaves a sour taste in everyones mouth and with the addition of better players and coaching changes they will be much better next season. flacco looks uncomfortable for some reason. not sure he and trestman are clicking. cb's play too far off the receivers. defense does not scare anybody and we have  no home field advantage this season. hope we finish in the top 2-5 draft position and do not sustain any more injuries the rest of the way.

We also lose because down the stretch, we either make huge, stupid penalties to stall the drive, or turn the ball over and kill our chances. The team now has a culture of how to lose games, instead of how to win games (all close, mind you) like we used to have. Team needs a major jolt.

offensive play calling is so inconsistent and after another slow start they wait until late 4th qtr to spread things out. start the game with that urgency for once. no excuses but the refs were awful and harbs looks like he is about to have a mental breakdown

Thank you for a dose of reality that isn't shrouded in negativity. We may be down this year, but it won't be forever like some teams.

It looks like we'll have some high picks next year- Ozzie usually doesn't mess those up.

Let's get them next year and play for pride for the rest of the year.

I just can't believe we're 1-6- that's usually Raiders/ Redskins territory, but it is what it is and hopefully we'll be able to turn this around next year with stronger drafts in the future.

Trestman's play calling is way to predictable. I think its time to call it a year. 10-6 was the ideal number. but with 3 division games left (2 on the road) and a game with seattle i dont see us going on a 10 game run. best would be 7-9,8-8 finish.

yay! sensible people on the message boards!!

my favorite part is "Credit Joe for keeping us relevant" because that is exactly what's happening despite popular belief.

Still blows my mind that a fan base that has had to root for Kyle Boller, Elvis Grbac, Trent Dilfer, Chris Redman, and countless other not-good quarterbacks still doesnt appreciate good QB play when they see it, even if it is during a near winless season.
