The Good, the bad and the ugly vs Cardinals

Maybe so the C can make his adjustments without worrying about watching the clock as well.

Yeah, honestly, I have no idea where that comes from, but it's not just a Ravens thing. I'd have to ask someone what the reasoning for that is, but I'd imagine that could be a factor.

I happen to know of a potential center on the roster who's a former Rhodes scholar and current math genius. :D

Add pass catcher to his resume...

OH WAIT nobody saw him declare eligible even though EVERYONE WATCHING TV DID

Still perplexed that he missed that...

Huge difference between 3-0 and 7-0. Awful

yup.

if the qb does not say it or points out the wrong person chances are the C will not adjust or call the wrong protection.

its starts with the QB identifying it.

its why guys like manning , brady and rodgers line up fast and use the time to do those fake snaps to see who jumps so they can identify whats going to happen and tell the C so he can make the proper calls.

Thanks, this was the answer I was looking for

Knife in the heart is the replay... he clearly did declare. Cost us a lot.

Two of those three guys have had the liberty of a single OC for more than a year at a time, though. You can rest assured that each package of plays has been tailored to Brady's and Rodgers' (many) strengths and are flexible to handle a number of different situations. Plus, the comfort level is there to allow for both Brady and Rodgers to line up quickly, read and adjust before the snap. Flacco, by all accounts, is having a hard time even getting his receivers and TEs lined up.

I'm not saying Joe has the football IQ of two of the best QBs of all-time (three, including Peyton). But his discomfort in this new offense is a big contributor to our inability to get prepared earlier in the play clock.

How's Urschel sound...?

In all honesty, I'd look into kicking Zuttah over to LG and putting in Urschel at center next season. Zuttah doesn't exactly handle larger defensive tackles well and he does have experience at LG.

Doubt it happens, but it would be nice.

Could be a possibility, depending on what happens with KO.  Zuttah was restructured so I doubt he goes anywhere.

The right guard tapping the center isn't terribly uncommon from what I've seen across the NFL. Now, it could be I'm only seeing it with the play clock running down, but I'm honestly not remembering that well.

Yanda did it with Birk and Gradkowski, too.

i think both are connected.

clock running down so a tap to snap it.

makes alot of sense.

i just hate us being in that position cause it gives the defense an easy way to jump the snap.

its probably why our guys get beat so bad at times.

mixing up the snap is what can make the defense jump offside.

something we rarely see our offense do.

someone needs to speed things up after a play, either flacco calling and going to the huddle or trestman calling plays in quicker or both.

we could have been flagged for delay of game a few times lol.

Tony Lombardi over at RSR also had a good article a while back about Flacco's cadence. That's another thing the "elite" (again, truly sorry) QBs seem to do very well; after getting lined up early in the snap count, they have the flexibility - especially at home - to audible out of a bad look, snap the ball quickly to try and catch the D napping, or attempt to draw the D offsides. It'd be nice to see Joe vary his cadence a bit. Granted, at this point, something as subtle as that is akin to slapping a band-aid on an arterial bleed, but just something I read and happened to agree with.

like the commentators said it all adds to what we are seeing on offense.

when you barely use the same guys each week stuff like this is bound to happen.

its why i feel expectations should be lowered cause neither the offense or defense had the luxury to have the same players on the field for a good amount of time.

cant really expect both units to be top 10 with all the turnover we had.

Also : what's with jarbs meowing about those phones? Radio broadcast kept bringing it up. Please don't tell me that's an excuse for our offensive fail

I don't disagree with the argument that you need to build chemistry with a core group of guys. However, there's a fine line between working out the kinks and "the definition of insanity" with a few of the same receivers we keep running out there. Aiken has shown some bright spots here and there (though he had a pretty lackluster game tonight). Marlon Brown, on the other hand, has gradually convinced me that he has next to no redeemable characteristics.

Again, I think it's a balancing act. You want to build chemistry. But you also don't want to try and jam square pegs into round holes. At this point, I don't even think Marlon Brown belongs in the NFL. I'd rather mix in Givens, Ross, or even Butler while there are still a handful of games to play and next to nothing on the line.

think coaches like brown due to his size and his run blocking skills.

think he should be used more on intermediate routes crossing the field rather then these short passes.

i dont think butler offer much and ross and given each bring a certain skill set as well that on suits a particular goal.

we have to many guys who can do 1 or 2 things and only 1 guy who can do it all.

thats what is limiting us the most.

its makes you predictable and harder to build chemistry with the constant subbing.

The problem with Brown's size is that he never uses it. He should go in the Guinness Book of World Records as the shortest 6'5" human being alive. Also, heart plays more into effective run blocking than size - just ask Agent_89. :P

Same story different week. We only lost by 8 pts. This team's close but doesn't close games. It'll change. Someone's getting fired no later than this offseason.

The good, the bad, and the ugly lie from within!!! DEAN PEAS is the curse of our down fall!!!! His bend but don't break philosophy doesn't cut it. He wants to have the best redzone defense but has the WORST regular defense! That's NOT how the Ravens play and that doesn't represent Baltimore in anyway!! PEAS is coaching our defense to play 10-15 yrd off the ball as a corner on a easy 3rd and 5. Giving up easy passes and CAUSING our defense to be hurt constantly. You can't stay health by making full speed tackles from 10:15:20 yards off the ball. Get in the face of the WR and tackle them the second the catch the ball!!!!!  When Peas was with the Pats there defense was god awful and he brought that to Baltimore. In all reality the offense has gotten a little better every week. Meaning I could tolerate Trestman since they're putting up some pts!....I ALSO thought signing Dwight Freeney a day after T-Sizzle was out for the season would be the best pick up. NOPE they sign some BUM practice squad player! Who we cut after his, WHAT, second game? Also picking up some 3 string crappy Miami player? I don't want Harbaugh gone! But he needs to do what needs to be done and put his foot in some butts and motivate! Get LOUD! Put some FIRE in these players! Taking a year off; in my book' is a let down to everyone who represents RAVENSNATION!!!

Offense was very creative at times.

Had some great raven like calls on defense.

This game was just filled with drive killers, dropped passes penalties under throws and even bad calls.

Ravens just don't have any playmakers. The WRs Corp is laughable. The secondary is nonexistent. Just a below average team.

Well I have found one group related to football that I hate more than the Cheatriots. The zebras. I guess Brady was right. Harbs does need to read the rules since they seem to change between games. A guy is down and you can still take the ball as a fumble? A guy gets tackled and he can get up and run for additional yardage? Weird rules.

To follow the thread;

The good-the game was exciting and we were in it to the end

The bad-the crooked cheating referees

The ugly-the crooked cheating referees

dont forget the bogus "push" penalty called on asa jackson after the fumbled punt. like harbaugh said after the game, there was about 20 - 30 pushes on the field throughout the game tonight.

and that awful PI call on webb down in the red zone early in the game. just terrible, terrible calls. just let the guys play.

Im not exactly sure if its the one im thinking of, but there was a PI call and it was the correct one, i think it was web too....He had his right arm hooked down.

he had the back arm slightly hooked but its a newer rule they implemented. hooking that back arm. and it looked like an extremely loose grip.

another rule to make the NFL high scoring, entertaining, and rack in more money. but stupid rules like that cost games and its flat out detrimental to the overall quality of the game imo.

ANOTHER Brilliant signing by Ozzie.

Considering that Monroe was one of the better left tackles in the league  and didn't have any health concerns back when he was a Jag. Yeah it was good idea to sign Monroe. Ozzie had no idea all of sudden he would have issues with health. That's just something a general manager can't predict but you be crazy to say it was dumb move at the time to not get him re-signed.

On the Floyd TD there was one receiver not lined up correctly.

The cards o-line had multiple holdings on Dumervil.

Regarding the last play: If you can't catch it you gotta get OPI. You'd better lose 10 yards than giving the ball away. I don't get why we don't see that more often from WRs.

I knew we didn't have a chance when we got called for an illegal formation on Urschel after his catch. Replay clearly shows him making the eligible signal to the refs, who then say be didn't report as eligible. Even Gruden was shocked by it, and that says a lot.

Then we get 8 penalties to their one in the first half. Which was so Bushleague it was almost funny, as they got away with anything they wanted, while we got called on several phantom calls, or just outright favoritism. Look at Asa Jacksons flag for the personal foul. Both he and the Cardinal player were pushing and shoving but be was the only one called. Bushleague.  Brutal.

Yea this i dont get and nothing can be done about it sadly.  I guess John will send in the complaints and the league will say, my bad.   cool.

Honestly I don't think Flacco is happy with how this offense is run at all. Given he actually had some criticism this week - I'm even more certain. He needs to speak up to Harbs and get Trestman gone if it just doesn't work.

On top of this , our headsets mysteriously went out on the final drive last night making if extremely hectic .
