The Good, the bad and the ugly vs Cardinals

327 posts in this topic

Same as every other week.

1- Trestman is not the guy.  So many dumb play calls again.  We get out of the huddle every play with less than 10 seconds on the play clock.  We once again didn't spike the ball in the 2 minute drill at the end of the game only to do a busted play resulting in a incompletion anyway.  We even had a play where Flacco rolls out to his right and every single receiving route ran to the left.   1 minute drill in the first half was head scratching again.

2-  We learned again that are cornerbacks play well when they play up at the line (minus Wright, more on that) and we are absolutely terrible at playing off coverage.  They beat us on off coverage every time.  What else is new.

3- We learned again that Wright is terrible.  He was terrible last week.  He was not as terrible but still terrible this week.  He shouldn't be out there.  He is going to get beat deep whether he plays off or up or bump and run.

I think it may be time to hit the reset button.  This is the most poorly managed team I've seen in a long time.  No logic in any of the offensive or defensive coaching.  The coaches have lost the players.  Time to make the moves.

Chris Johnson forward progress call was one of the worst I've ever seen, that's absolutely disgusting incompetence not to blow that dead when Brandon Williams held him at a dead stop. I would love to blame the refs for the loss but we deserved to lose anyway.

Not sure if I can watch any more games this year, I love my team but this is cruel and unusual punishment at this point. Clean house this offseason, cut Marlon, cut Trawick, beg SSS for one more year, fire Pees, maybe drop Trestman (let's see how he does when Perriman comes back), we need to blow it up and start over.

I really think the refs cost us big time in the game .

The Cardinals had virtually no calls against them .

They were atrocious early. That in eligible call against us was bs and changed the momentum, of the game at that point

Pees called a good game Imo

He did. I hate him, but I gotta give him that. He called a great game today.

Flacco and his back foot lobs have cost us in 2-3 games this year. Dude doesn't have it between his head.

Those guys in red in his face? There to tackle him. The O line had him running for his life all night.

They played. Can't complain about that this game. They came and they played.

Trestman - perhaps if we'd not gone run, run oh 3rd and a billion guess we have to pass on a few of our offensive series we'd have scored earlier.

Pees - when your defense is so completely lost you waste a TO, again, that is coaching.

But they played. They looked like a football team. Boyle's fumble really hurt us. Refs pretty much gave the Cardinals 10 pts.

Only surprise is that the loss wasn't by a larger margin. Don't think anyone's surprised we lost this one. Anyways, one step closer to ending this awful season.

I am not really mad. I mean at the end of the day non of the Ravens are paying my bills, and I have much more dire personal issues to deal with. I do find it odd that the coaches, specifically Dean Pees still have a job, but eh, oh well. On to the 2016-2017 Season.

Referees were terrible in this game...

Missed John Urschel reporting in as eligible, somehow, despite him facing the referee and Joe Flacco pointing at him. How do they miss something like that? That's, very likely, a loss of four points.

The referees somehow missed that Ross's knee was down on his fumble (a terrible call on the field, but an even worse review by the referees) and then call Webb for DPI when it was a perfect defensive play. They eventually score because of a pick route by Johnson. That's a seven point swing with the potential to be 14 if the Ravens offense had produced there, which is plausible considering they had good momentum before that "fumble".

Then, probably the worst call of the game, the referees don't call Johnson as having stopped momentum, despite him being held still for at least two seconds. Literally every player on the field stopped for two seconds, but I'm sure that was just sheer coincidence. Heads up play by Johnson, but a terrible call, or non call, by the referees.

And since I know one poster will likely have something to say about it, here's the video (watch 46-49): http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-miss-plays/0ap3000000566648/Can-t-Miss-Play-Runaway-Johnson. Then listen to the commentators and how they are absolutely  noncommittal in calling it either way, but notice how 22 players on the field just stopped moving.  That led to three points.

I am usually very adamant that referees are never the true deciding force in a game, but that's 14-21 point swing in favor of the Cardinals off of some very questionable calls and non-calls.

He threw A ball that Gilmore had every chance to get bit didn't. That wasn't on joe he couldn't take a sack and had no time to plant and his feet. Learn more about football

I wonder if The Mom Gene still thinks he is the next Gronk lol.

I thought defense played quite well for the most part but weird stuff kept happening in the game. The refs were bad in this game and I honestly would have liked to have seen Trestman take advantage of Givens speed more and those fake end arounds was just too much man.

You make a decisive throw. You don't lob it up like an idiot. That simple. Time for one more play after that. He didn't need to make that dumb pass.

Oh yeah? You're telling me you'd be able to sit in there and take that shot, but make a decisive and accurate throw in about a second? I'm impressed with your skills. Considered a tryout?

He was never very accurate to be fair. He used to get lucky sometimes or get receiver help.

Not hating on Joe, I love the guy. I'm just laying the facts.

id throw the ball to the stand behind the goal post a lil bit

You'd do that with a defender bearing down on you, potentially hitting your arm in the process? I'm impressed with all of you internet quarterbacks.

Not a good game by any means, but I was at least glad to see some heart this week. They fought hard and I can accept that at least.

Agreed. They played with a lot more passion and purpose. For the most part, it was one of the better games this weekend. Just couldn't get that W.

When did I say I could have done better? You don't lob the ball up in that situation. Flacco is getting paid like a top 3 QB and he makes mistakes like he's in the bottom third.

Let alone the for sure touchdown that he under threw completely in the first half. Then we had to punt the ball. I won't bring that up because somehow you will wrap your head around that it was a great pass. You are fooling yourself if you think the good QB's in this league miss someone that wide open.

Yeah insult to injury, we got shafted big time on the CJ run, he was literally being held at a dead stop by Brandon Williams and they didn't blow the whistle yet if somebody came in and hit him it would be 15 yds for unnecessary roughness. Haven't been so mad at a blown call in a long time.

The refs were the worst part of the game.

Also, Webb needs to go.

Also, Monroe is soft as charmin.

But even with all the mistakes, I'm honestly not too bothered, I was convinced we'd get blown out. I wanted to see effort and these guys gave it to me.

Losing every single game by 1 possession is extremely anomalous and there's likely no precedent for it. Like I said in the game thread, this has to be the most competitive 1-6 team ever. Only one team can win the SB every year, and since it obviously won't be us this year, hey, why not add a high draft pick to a team that's just missing a few pieces? I'm honestly at peace right now.

Trestman should have had something helping to passblock for Flacco. You know they were going to bring the house and Flacco couldn't take a sack in that situation. Or do the Kubiak thing and call a rollout. I've tried to defend Trestman before but the calls seem to be getting worse as the season continues.

You are just a fool if you think he couldn't have thrown that ball harder than that. Gilmore had no chance of getting to that pass either. You may need to get to the eye doctor.

No actually, I do know what I saw. He had to unload it he threw it high knowing he had a 6ft 6 tight end there. He also had to throw it quick to save as much time on the clock as he could. Not on joe. The other team gets paid too buddy, and they arep etty damned good.again.

I have to strongly disagree with anyone saying Joe lost us that game. For one thing even if we got the last-second TD the 2 points isn't guaranteed (AND that would have only made it OT), and the defense was worse than the offense.

Flacco doesn't sound happy about the final drive. Said it was very hectic and way too much communication.
