The Good, the bad and the ugly vs Cardinals

Is it never Joes fault now?

I don't believe that's what people are saying.

No it just isn't always his fault like everyone likes to make out.

He had no time to plant his feet and couldn't take a sack there. He put it up knowing he had a 6ft 6" TE there in the end zone. Gilmore COULD have made that catch - I've seen other TEs make ones with way worse passes, but he didn't. He's young. I still like Boyle better for his fight.

Good point except for the ball was thrown a little higher than ideal but that's what Joe was trying for to give his TE a chance. I like Boyle too and I think the TE position as a whole has become a strength for the offense. The ball placement could have been better but The taller TE is supposed to jump for it.

The idiotic types of things that have happened to the Ravens this season are typical. Bad calls always seem to go against the teams with the losing record. In my opinion our secondary needs to go back to tackling basics of wrapping up and not giving yards after a catch. Can't tell you how many times I've seen defenders just trying to bump the guy out of bounds or take his feet out only to miss and have him go for a first down and beyond.

Our receivers DO NOT get separation (Steve Smith Sr being the exception) which limits Flacco's choice of where to throw and we need a better pass rush.

the touchdowns we gave up to Chris Johnson, that Browns rb, and Leveon bell displayed some of the worst tackling and containing that I've ever seen in my life. All the backs have to do is run to one side of the feild then cut back in the entire opposite direction and not only will all of our guys get faked out, but they will miss a few tackles and then be too slow to chase the guy down. No discipline and a lack of basic fundamentals.

Yeah where they break it down Flacco even says about it being a one on one match up with a short guy. He figured Gilmore would go up for it. He didn't. Like I said, Gilmore is only 2nd year so not trying to be down on him. Hopefully, he'll learn to go get those jump balls because sometimes, that is simply where you have to place the ball given the circumstances.

I don't believe the returner was down. I know very well he was down.

That too! Refs were a mess, but this team had its own problems that were still on display so whatever.

Well, they'll get "downgraded" which will hurt their chances at refereeing in the playoffs... that crew last night was abysmal.

"League sources told ESPN's Ed Werder that Torbert will not be punished because that call was determined to not be critical to the outcome of the game."

This article makes me sick~ to think that this crew will do another game is just beyond pathetic.

Really? It completely stole our momentum.

And what about not ruling Johnson down. I think 62 yds and 3 pts impacted the game.

The referees also missed a PI on Tony Jefferson. I know you're unlikely to get a call there in that situation, but I think Crockett failed to go up because he just got completely pushed in the back. There was pretty clear arm extension.

Overreaction.

I'd encourage said fans to remember what its like to have less-than-qualifed officials doing games, because it wasn't that long ago. And things were exponentially worse then than they are now.

They don't just have a pool of 500 guys sitting around waiting to take somebodies job.

I thought I saw that at first. Crockett raised his arms like he was expecting a call, but nothing.

That zebra crew was atrocious.

The call against Urschel took us from 2nd and 4 to 1st and 15 and killed our drive. We were moving the ball pretty well.

Also, Johnson'said forward progress was OBVIOUSLY stopped. That was probably the worst of the worst. ...AFTER that on the same drive, Mosley was being held big time on the TD play. Palmer rolled right, Mosley would have had him but he was held ..dudes hand was literally inside his shoulder pads.

I can't believe that they didn't overturn the Ross fumble either.

We would have won that game if not for all of that.

We didn't help ourselves much on the field either, but in an 8 point game the refs GAVE them at least 10...

In his defense, Yanda has a full fist of jersey on there...

It's more of a joke, but he got straight ppunched it looks like. You could probably call holding (lineman are taught to try to get their hands inside the pads) on every single play. There's no excuse to miss something that blatant

I'm done being upset over a clearly biased officiating crew. It's all good. I'm not even mad. We've benefited at times in the past and got calls to go our way because we were the home team.

That said, I do think these refs have it out for us. Please don't write this off and let me explain. See, we've been an undisciplined group this year and we've earned, imo, probably extra attention that comes from officials as a consequence. They're likely watching us closer because of our reputation and history of lack of discipline.

That's just how it goes sometimes and it's up to the team to fix this reputation.

How about the Ravens being able to play at home on Monday night?

Look back and count how many MNF games we've hosted? Yup.... NFL isn't biased?

Not exactly a great TV draw...

Never really seen Gilmore jump that much and tbh I don't like him in jump ball situations like we used Pitta. Gilmore is heavy and quite lumbering. Like Boyle he's better suited to receive the ball in ball in stride and then run over people.

Firstly, I wasn't responding to you.  Secondly,  I was referring to the referees performance in this past game as pathetic.  Pathetic is defined as feelings of sadness or a lack of respect both of which do not rise to a level of overreaction.  Thirdly, your straw man tactic in trying to divert the subject to something you would rather discuss verses the subject actually being discussed is old hat at this point, as no one was comparing these referees to the replacement referees in the conversation I responded to.

When you predict a team to lose and they do...there is nothing to vent!

On to next week!

Yup

Nothing surprising happened this week... Same story

No playmakers or consistency on offense

No pass rush and no discipline on defense

Touche, but what I really want to say is that I second your opinion about that officiating crew.  Get rid of them. There's guys in the wings with clearer eyesight.

And because of that it is easy at least for me to determine the outcome.

@FilmstudyRavens: Hurst allowed 4 pressures to Freeney on the last 7 snaps excl spike and penalty. Aggregate score for season is .52 @ravens @BMoreBeatdown

LOL, nice try...

If you are like the many people who think the officials should be fired (very prevalent solution on these boards), then by definition, you are advocating for replacement officials, as the act of firing an official requires them to be replaced by another official. As such, we've already seen how this story plays out and the end result, and everybody (the league, the players, the fans, etc.) are all 100% worse off.

You thinking this is a "straw man" technique is false in that regard, because that comparison, or in this case that proposed solution, is actually the most relevant aspect of the topic and has widely been discussed.

That is, unless of course, the entire topic is just about people identifying obvious or perceived problems without even attempting to formulate a reasonable solution to it, which wouldn't remotely surprising around here.

For the record, if I had my choice between using a straw man argument and presenting some of the solutions I've seen to problems on here, I'll take straw man 100% of the time. At least its valid.
