Jeremy Butler promoted to active roster

Yep, glad we're moving on. I predict less Marlon and more Butler and Waller.

UPDATE:Nevermind

Interesting choice to go with 8 WRs on the roster, even if 1 is Breshad Perriman who may or may not be a real live human being.  I know WRs are severely underperforming, but it still seems we could use depth elsewhere.

I agree and it would have been better if they promoted one of their outside linebackers but maybe Butler just been tearing it up in practice or something.

I worry butler may be even worse than Marlon. Now it's no secret that I thought VERY little of marlon brown and while everyone was predicting his breakout, I was predicting a season where people finally realized he sucks... But I saw even less from butler in the preseason than I saw from brown, and I believe brown only played one game! Butler looked pretty horrible.

Yeah dude. This WR group has been flat out disappointing. Completely failed to live up to the hype.

were still trying this whole retread thing. The exact definition of insanity is what we're doing with our wr corps, repeating the same methods and expecting different results.

I'm ok with it for now, it's about time we EVALUATE what we have in house, rather than force feeding Steve smith until he gets broken in half. We don't need to play vanilla anymore, we don't need to forcefeed one guy, we can spread it out and try lots of new things now with no pressure, see what truly works best, and if we need to field Jeremy butler to better evaluate, then I'm all for it

Yeah we got to stop this. We've got to be aggressive with these WRs, I'm tired of WR being a problem year in and year out. If Breshad doesn't play a snap, then I want us to act as if he isn't even on the roster. Quite frankly to your point, I don't know why we keep doing what we keep doing at WR if it doesn't work.

Butler's hands are a lot better than Marlon's. I'm not expecting Butler to take anything by storm, especially will Ross taking advantage of his opportunities, but I do expect to see Butler making the catches Marlon has been dropping all season if given the opportunity.

marlon dropped what.. 2 passes all year? His problem has never been his hands. He actually has pretty dependable hands for e most part, his problem is that he sucks horribly everywhere else, no speed, no burst, no quickness, no route ability, no awareness, god awful body control, God awful ball tracking, and is incredibly bad at the things a 6'5" wr should be good at lol

I've seen him drop atleast 4- and quite a few other times I've seen him in the wrong spot or just giving up on his routes. Frustrating the heck out of me. I like this move. Might as well see what he can do.

I agree with everything you've said except Marlons hands being dependable. I don't know the stats but, if he has only dropped 2 passes all year, has he caught one yet after those 2 drops ?

Butler's biggest issue is probably the same as Marlon's, which is separation.  Fortunately for him, he's better in a lot of areas - playing more aggressive, coming down with contested balls, etc.  I'm honestly not sure if you can be any less productive than Marlon with the number of snaps that he's had, so it's worth giving Butler a shot to see if he can do more.

If Butler has a fairly good game tonight without any drops, I wouldn't mind seeing him taking Marlon's spot indefinitely. What good is a 6'5 frame when you don't know to use it?

Butler is inactive tonight.  It might be a case of someone trying to poach him off of our PS and us not wanting to lose him.

I read on BR.com that he's eligible to play tonight?? They promoted him and then deactivated his spot for tonight's game?

Yep.  He could've played but we chose not to dress him.

Butler not playing he's inactive in this game. I guess maybe The Ravens wanted to add him to the active roster because a another team had interest in him.

It's kind of a funny coincidence if you think about it.  Harbuagh was with the Eagles under Reid who refused to get a big time WR for the Eagles for years except for one year with TO.  Now Harbaugh and Ozzie seem to be doing the same thing with either an inability to draft a true game changer at WR or refuse to pay the money to sign one.  Probably nothing to this but a funny coincidence nonetheless

I guess it's better to go with the young guy Waller and keep developing him than to bring somebody up from the ps who might not even be on the team next year. Would've liked to see if butler could provide a spark to the wrs, but it's all good.

Once Perriman returns and Brown returns to top form the ravens WRs will be quite formidable!! and light up the scoreboard. That will give the ravens 3 pro bowl caliber WRs and...... lolllllll I can not finish this with a straight face.

well I guess I should say before this year, the only thing about him that was dependable was his hands, if his hands got on the ball then h always pulled it in, he was incapable of doing anything else though lol
