67 posts in this topic

Just watched that 20th anniversary video against the Cardinals. And it just reminded me, damn did we have a hungry defense! with playmakers across the board.

The Steelers losing yesterday felt good for two reasons.

1.because they lost

2.because it got the Chiefs off of our backs in the race for Joey Bosa

Wouldn't get your hopes up on this one...

Our secondary hasn't been the same since Graham left.I think Ozzie was hoping Arrington would play the way Graham did but that hasn't worked out.I think the reason our DB's from the draft have been failing is because of the coaching.Elam was never used the right way and I remember Pees admitting that he put too much on Brooks plate before he was injured last year.

Let's not concern ourselves with any other team losing unless it's because we just beat them. We're in a rough spot right now but let's not sink to being haters and taking pleasure in others misfortune. We're better than that.

Don't you find it kind of creepy that what Steve Smith's minor child is posting on twitter is the lead story? Don't we have a game tonight?

At this point it's not even hope. Our schedule is tough, our secondary is horrendous,we have very little if any pass rush and we lack playmakers in the passing game. We're more than likely going to get that top spot unless we beat JAX(who we struggle against even when we're good) in the head to head.

Treatman is gone. A complete offensive failure. Enough of Smith...Smith...Smith already. As a trade he is worth a 6th round pick, period. There is a reason the Panthers got rid of him. Very good player but not any longer worth the headache. Success followed quickly. Ravens top flaw...we make to many players great before they earn their first stripe. Which leads to disappointment after disappointment after disappointment. Tough season, it happens. We can't keep replacing most important coaches year after year and expect success. It's all finally caught up to us. Well we now have 10 months to straighten it all out. Sounds good. Go Ravens....give the Cardinals a good game tonight and surprise the country.....again as we usually do.

Flacco and Trestman slow transition: Easy. Flacco doesn't believe in Trestman's leadership. Trestman has no real credability despite being a HC. I believe the entire offeinsive unit feels that way and it's in the results. The oline has decided they will lead the way through an improved running game because there is simply no belief in the passing game. You want a coordinator who exudes confidence and Trestman doesn't at all and isn't a run first believer. Kyle would have been a better hired!!!

So what? We watched the Steelers lose yesterday! Now what will they and the rest of the NFL world watch us do tonight?

They will watch us do what we do best---Shock the world! Not a soul believes that we will win tonight, but we will. 31-24 Ravens

Sad to say, our defense is no longer feared. Not exactly sure what the problem(s) are. I definitely think we somehow need to rebuild from coaching to play makers.

I will tell you exactly what I and Flacco feel about Trestman and how he operates. When we went for the two point conversion that was a screen pass to Forsett and the defense sniffed it out and Flacco threw it to the ground, when questioned about his options, Flacco responded that was the only receiver in the play. That tells you all you need to know about a Trestman offense. When we were kids and were scribbling plays in the dirt their was always a second option for the QB. Trestman did well in Canada but has been a miserable failure in the NFL. Take a look, we have exactly the same offense Chicago had last year and the same record. Trestman is unqualified to be an OC in the NFL. His team has no confidence in him because they know he isn't qualified.

I get that SSS left Carolina on bad terms, but he'd be crazy not to be open to a trade to a contender. Why end your career on a low note? He has to be just saying that for Ravens fans' sakes. Really, you don't think he would go to the Pats, Packers, Broncos if he got the chance? Be real.

Over the years I see great WR's available in later rounds of the draft which we (and other teams) passed over. Maybe Perriman will be the stud we drafted him to be but since he's not on the field, we don't know how dominant he will be. Watching guys like Diggs become playmakers make me downright envious.

At present, SSS is the only worthy WR on this roster. A lot of vets, if put in that position, would be all up in the faces of these young WRs and would be visibly showing frustration. He's not complaining about finishing his career on a team that appears to be heading for a losing season.

So exactly what headache is he causing us?

I just don't get where all this trade talk is coming from? If you want to give SSS one more chance to play in a super bowl start winning games for Pete's sake! For anyone who chooses to play lights out, if we can get the whole team to do just that, we are not done yet! Haven't there been teams in the AFC South that had a chance at play-offs with .500 record? That will never happen up north, but if we can get above .500 there is always a chance. Teams got to play in January with 9-7 records before. So Ravens suck a little right now. Too bad. But they haven't lost hope yet and don't sound defeated so it's disloyal of fans to do so until January football becomes mathematically impossible. Great to hear that Steve is loyal. It's sad he might go into retirement without a bang and a flash, but I really appreciate his spirit and attitude towards the Ravens. No way he'll go back to Carolina, they're doing okay without him and from a certain moment, he wasn't a good fit. Well, he is here. If the Ravens had a spirit animal, it would be Steve Smith.

Now, I am in no way in denial over the state of our secondary or that the offense hasn't been as flashy as we would like it to be - too many throws that are off and drops by our WRs. However, here's to hoping to the good things helping to the rise of the phoenix from the ashes. This season. Not sometime indefinite in the future, near or far.

the two most impactful things to this year's downturn?

1. Joe's sloppy mechanics relative to last year with Kubiak;

2. the impact of Suggs' absence bleeding into the time required by an otherwise average secondary to cover passing attacks that are better than they are.

Both things could be covered up in this year with coaching, but the coaching itself has been sub-par and quite frankly, looks lost and bewildered.

We're so concerned with fixing the secondary but we don't realize that given the timing of Suggs' injury, it's gotten impossible to mitigate the impact he brought. The closest analogy we have is the first 6 games of 2012. Back then we had Haloti, Kemoatu, McPhee, Art Jones, and Kruger to keep the pressure on by committee. Not for nothing but 3 of those guys went on to sign lucrative mega-deals elsewhere. The other 2 are Haloti and Kemoatu, who retired. This also doesn't mention that we had two coaches on the field in Lewis and Reed to cover up some of the shortcomings.

Now?

Yes, we're putting decent athletes out there. Not making light of their talent. But there's a vast difference in football IQ and situational awareness, and this is becoming obvious where those two things count the most, late in close games.

Still see 4-5 wins this season at least, so I don't suspect we're getting the first pick. My guess is around 4th or 5th.

And my statement was more in regard to us drafting Bosa, because I'm not convinced that's the route we will go. He's not really ideal as a 3-4 edge rusher. He's versatile, which helps him, but I doubt he would do very well as a 3-4 DE/DT.

I was hoping for the Ravens to draft Diggs... he would have solved 3 problems in one pick.. He can play the slot... he can be a return guy... and as you can see he takes the top off of defenses...should have picked him up.. but happy for the guy... I have a feeling they were hoping Camp was going to be that guy this year..but he can't stay healthy..outside of not drafting Diggs I really like our draft... Davis, Boyle, Lil Buck, Z Smith, Waller... Mad Maxx

A friend pointed out over beers yesterday that:.....Both the Colts and the Ravens were accused by Mr. Kraft for having something to do with the Brady Deflate gate thing......both teams are uncharacteristically struggling at the bottom this season while the Patriots are undefeated.......what did you do this summer Mr. Kraft? Let the conspiracy theories begin!! GO RAVENS!

Article above seems on point except for the statement that Jimmy Smith is not included in the failures of our secondary. What is everybody seeing that I don't. He is getting beat by just

about every receiver this year. He and Webb are the same. We paid them for one good year. I

rank him a borderline bust.

I feel like this could be a trap game for Arizona, call me crazy but I feel like Special Teams/Defense will be a factor in this game%u2026This has Justin Tucker written all over it 3-4 FG game, a return for a TD, and offense gets 2 TDs too%u2026 not to mention- ARZ has had trouble scoring in the RedZone- we do well defending in the Redzone forcing FGs. 26-20 Final Ravens Stun the world, and Piss off the nation that bet against them expecting them to get blown out.
