The Arthur Brown thread

I wanted Manti Te'o that year.

The only silver lining I see with Art Brown is that we probably never would have drafted CJ Mosley if we didn't draft Brown in '13.

Huh? Why? If anything it would've made it more likely.

Before this gets locked or whatever let me explain why I made this. The only Threads related to Brown were either crazy talk about moving him to OLB or irrelevant ones like him being IR'd last year. Given this guys contract is almost up I figure people would want to talk about him.

Why is it so crazy to try him at OLB or even Safety?

Cardinals Deone Bucannon SS playing LB at 6'1 210 and he went up and up with Osemele.

Giants Nikita Whitlock FB playing DT 5'11 250.

Both of them are making plays.

the season is already over why not experiment and test players.

If he could play Safety or OLB he would've already played safety or OLB. We've had crappy safety's ever since Brown got here and we'd rather have washed up players like Babin and rookies like Smith play OLB over Brown. He's not a pass rusher. Edited by Cillmatic

Might as well put Brooks at WR while you're at it. Might honestly work Edited by Cillmatic

I would like to see this but I don't think Pees has the creativity for it

We could really use Arthur Browns athleticism, this defense is slow. Either way he should have some use given to how slow we are defensively.

Agreed.  Its not like we are 6-1 and he is behind two players in rotation.   At this point he could play free safety.

I don't really think FS would make much sense, but making him into a hybrid SS/LB seems feasible. Like Deon Bucannan, Shaq Thompson, or Jamie Collins when he first started. A hybrid LB/S allows you to switch from a base defense to nickle without having to change personnel.

Sadly, it looks like we drafted another 4-3 player to play in our 3-4 defense. I wouldn't be surprised if he got cut/traded, went to a 4-3 team, and did well as an OLB.

They need to play him somewhere, its laughable to trade up and draft a lb in the 2nd and then not play him for whatever reason. Why even keep him then?

AB needs to be getting reps next to Mosely period. That will be the only way he develops. I have seen what it looks like with both Mosely and Smith trying to cover TE's, and it ain't pretty. AB has more speed than both of them. Maybe at least get him in on 3rd down, see what you got. I mean why wait for next year, when Smith is gone?

I agree. AB really must be a scrub in the coaching staff's eyes to not see the field at all. We are really lacking speed (most notably Smith).

They played Orr instead of Brown AGAIN. It's official, Arthur Brown is a bust, cut him this off season. Another bad Ozzie pick of the 2010's.

Smith is actually outplaying CJ right now so are we tanking?

we talked about this idea last year if he could cut it I'm sure he'd be out there. I'd like to see what we have but I think something is up to that good coach's doghouse

Smith is signed for next season and has been playing well.   He would only save the team around 2.5 million to cut him next season. I don't see him going anywhere.

If both Daryl Smith and CJ Mosley get injured he will play.

If he is not worth even playing they can cut him and sign an udfa in his place and actually play the guy.

Mosely's banged up and Smith is starting to slow down.

We should rotate Brown in just to keep those 2 fresher and healthier.

Especially on obvious passing downs were Brown's speed might prove useful in coverage.

Thats what I say, at least get him in on passing downs, we are getting shredded across the middle....I mean for goodness sakes, the guy is a 2nd round draft pick, at least see what he can do...its not like we are going to the sb this year.. .get him on the field, this really pisses me off that he is riding the bench

Jacoby becomes a Charger perhaps thinking that he only has to face his old Ravens 1x this season and now he becomes a Steeler and have to face them at least 1 more time.  Bet he's saying..."Damn!"

Interesting contribution to the Arthur Brown thread, but I'll bet he enjoys playing us. He has a lot of friends on this team, so it's probably nice to get to see them all again during the season.
