"Lots of articles on opinions what's best for ME!! The season isn't going as well as #ravensnation would like but I'm not interested in being traded to a "Contender" its week 7 not the Superbowl you can't guarantee anything in this league but I know when I left #panthernation I wanted to be a raven because I was born to be @Raven!! I'm happy right where I am. Winning a Superbowl would be fun but what makes us play this game is the work we put into it day after day leading up to Sunday/Funday I'm not coming back what's in the past is in the past !!!! #agent89 is black/purple #playlikeAraven"

I was scrolling through my Instagram and saw Steve just posted this. I'm really happy we have a guy like him on our team. It's rare to find a person with so much heart and dedication. I also think that last part means this is his last ride. Merge this if you want by the way, I was just throwing it out there. What do you guys think of his post?

Since when does Steve Smith read the forums lol. The only thing I seen about him being traded to a contender was the thread someone made that Steve closed down himself. Anyway, so glad to see he has so much passion and energy despite our 1-5 start. I just wish everyone played with that much passion like he does.

did anyone actually think he WANTED to be traded? smh.

I would say that there are some here that did...  hence how this whole conversation got started.  It's ridiculous.  What's even worst is that it's grown legs...

Ya' know JO...  I would say that this stuff does make it to the Castle... No doubt in my mind.  It just seem awful funny how things that come up here make their way to the pressers.

And, yes, Steve shut it down, (not literally of course) by answering any question that any of us had about the topic.

I really think Steve Smith's influence is making Kamar better

I hope he helps all of our receivers mature as much as possible by the end of the year. I want them to learn Steves physicality and toughness. They have the skills, just not the emotion and heart.... Yet

I'm not surprised by that cause you Mods are always telling us posters to be mindful that the players families "may" frequent these boards from time to time.  I believe that they do in their down time and just don't post.  Or may be they do!  Lol!  It's both curiosity and human nature to know what others think and are saying about you in reference to your gameplay and how you do your djb even though you don't know them or would never meet them.

Well in that case:

Steve Sr! Please stay one more year! Give us a chance to get you that ring you deserve!

i just heard tonight some reputable (but cant remember name) worker out of cbs sports was talking about reading the forum today on 105.7 the fan.

mainly talked about the reaction to carson palmer throwing for 800 yds against us in the cardinals thread, but still cool he mentioned this forum on talk radio.

That literally fired me up....man.... I hope he comes back

Me too, but do you think he will? I interpreted his comment that he's "not coming back" to mean he won't be back next year. Maybe I misinterpreted it, though. Very possible. I've been trying to figure out a topic for a paper I'm writing and came here to take a break because my brain's fried.

Anyone else interpreted his comment differently than I did or who could give me some better perspective?

Didn't Boldin say something along these lines as well?

Yeah, he did, but Boldin didn't actually say he was going to retire at the start of the season, either. This is also week 7, and not the offseason.

he could've meant " I'm not coming back to the panthers" bc he referred to Panther nation and then went on directly to say "what's in the past is in the past I'm black/ purple" etc.

Who knows what he meant, whatever he decides I will respect. And I wouldn't fault him for changing his mind either. A lot can change in that amount of time.

That's a good point. I'd love it if he stayed one more year as well as many others, but that's one less year of his family for him. It's tough, but whatever he decides is the right decision.

The ravens should have traded a round1 and round2 pick in 2005 for SuperSport. He always played like a raven.

Steve Smith, Brandon Williams, Yanda, Will Hill, Gillmore, Lawrence Guy seem like the only active guys on the roster who really want to WIN.. So disappointed in our team's overall attitude, too much dead weight, too many guys that just like being in the NFL and don't REALLY leave it all on the field.

The SSS situation kind of reminds me of the way Tony Gonzalez went out. The Falcons were out of playoff contention very early in the season due to their terrible defense. Gonzalez was still playing at a high level. He had the option to be traded to his former team (Chiefs) if he wanted, since they needed a TE, and they were making the playoffs. Gonzalez chose to stay with the Falcons and retire at the end of the season.

Sounds a lot like SSS.

You may be onto something. That certainly does make sense in terms of context.

Yeah, we'll have to see either way.

I would add forsett and juice to that list. As well as nick Boyle.

SSS has made it clear that he wants to watch his son play next year. I heard that his son is looking at Hopkins as a college option. It is possibly easier to be able to watch his son if he went to Hopkins but I still don't know if that would have SSS reconsider retirement. I would love SSS to give the Ravens 1 more year but I fully understand if he does not. Have loved every moment SSS has given us as a Raven.

Agreed, I would add all 3 to the list. I mean it is the NFL, clearly everyone wants to win to an extent, but it's sad how we only have a handful of guys who REALLY want to win. It shows in our record, injuries hurt us no doubt, but the 2015 Ravens are soft and I really didn't expect that coming into this year.

Not many did. The SB predictions cursed us. We play better when people say we will suck going home into the season. People will claim(I saw this coming), but they're wearing pessimists and quite frankly, a dead clock is right twice a day.

I hope SSR returns. He makes WR a diminished need and we wouldn't need it as much. I honestly think a WR Corp of SSR, Perriman, and a guy like Garcón is good enough.

Hate to say it. But losing Breshad screwed us. We could have used his speed big time. Even if only as a decoy.

And for those who say, " I saw this coming". Utter crap.

I just wish Oz would have drafted SSS coming out of college. SSS has heart he knows how to compete. He has become one of my personal favorite all time Ravens.

Me too man, SSS has given us his blood, sweat, and tears in his short time with the team. Really wish we could watch him in purple and black for longer... knowing Steve I think there's a good chance he comes back for one final year in 2016. I just can't see him walking away after this type of season, he's too competitive.
